Twitter and LinkedIn apps for BlackBerry 10 updated

We've been waiting patiently for updates for some official apps for BlackBerry 10, and today we get a treat as both LinkedIn and Twitter have been updated for BlackBerry 10 devices. Both updates bring some new features that should make users very happy. I was hoping for a Facebook update to go along with them, but I guess that one's not quite ready yet.  You should see the updates available in BlackBerry World within the next 24 hours, so if you aren't seeing them just yet, don't panic.

Twitter New Features

  • Doing more on the Compose Tweet Screen – With Twitter v10.0.1, an enhanced Compose Tweet Screen allows you to take a new photo or add an existing one, add your location, and offers a shortcut for “@”.
  • Composing Direct Messages – Twitter v10.0.1 makes it easier for you to compose a Direct Message from the “Me” tab within the app. Viewing Direct Messages from your contacts is also available in the BlackBerry® Hub.
  • Edit Profile – You can now edit your profile picture, header, and details from your BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
  • Conversation view – You will see the full conversation history when clicking on a Tweet.
  • Improved Image Viewing – You can now view pic.twitter.com full screen images, as well as pinch to zoom and pan images from the Tweet details. Also, you can view full screen profile pictures from other Twitter users.
  • Deleting Tweets – You can now delete your own tweets from any screen where your tweet is displayed. It’s as simple as holding down on a tweet and selecting the trash icon.
  • Block and Report as Spam – You can now block and report users as spam.
  • Enhanced Menu – Twitter v10.0.1 allows you to do more from the timeline, with new options to “Quote Tweet” after selecting “Retweet” as well as “Open Tweet” to view the tweet details page.

LinkedIn New Features

  • LinkedIn Messages – LinkedIn v10.0.1 allows you to quickly message your connections from their profile page.
  • Enhanced Job Search tools – With LinkedIn v10.0.1, you now have access to view, search and save jobs that are ‘Recommended’ for you.
  • LinkedIn Today – Choose the LinkedIn news that matters the most, by filtering the news by Industries you are interested in.
  • Better Image Viewing – LinkedIn v10.0.1 provides full screen viewing of LinkedIn profiles for an enhanced visual experience.

Great updates! Now come onnnnn Facebook!!!

If you DONT see a Twitter update in your UPDATES area then just tap the Twitter App in Blackberry World, the button on the top will give you the "Update" option.

Got the linkdin update and the CB10 update (which means I can now post this comment.) however no Twitter update yet, even by searching for the app and checking the green button up top to see if it says 'update'. Really glad to see that there's an update coming for Twitter though, the last version was shockingly bad.

Just downloaded the linked in and new twitter updates. This is what twitter should of been. Nicely done! The full profiles views and it just seems more like the m.twitter.com. I used that more as the previous version is not a good app to me.

Go into the BlackBerry World. click on the "All" on the bottom left Then click on my world then tap on My Apps and Games. Go to Twitter and Linked In you will see a button that will say update. This is the manual process to update them versus waiting on the notification.

Tweetmarker. Please, for the love of everything holy, can someone make a BB10 Twitter client with (working) Tweetmarker support.

While we're on that note: why doesn't Twitter have something like Tweetmarker built into their own service?

  • Reply

dzbeebo Mar 7, 2013 at 3:04 pm

The twitter update is great... already a major improvement on the initial release... now we need the next update to give users the ability to see if their tweet was favored, retweeted, etc.

Posted via CB10

  • Reply

Fatz_z Mar 7, 2013 at 3:29 pm

in the tweet details screen (tapping on the tweet) you can see the number of retweets. I don't know about favorites though.

  • Reply

Joshuacms Mar 7, 2013 at 3:08 pm

Strange, seems to appear one at a time, got LinkedIn, hopefully twitter will appear next time, on a related note I've finally got my os update available on o2 uk... just got to get wifi

Only thing missing is Tweet Marker support and it would be the perfect Twitter app for me

  • Reply

Thinking that the US delay might have been intentional or at least fortune coincidence. It gave BB chance to polish apps, add more and clean up the os. They need to execute perfectly, the rest of us are used as guinea pigs.

  • Reply

irwindersra Mar 8, 2013 at 8:06 am

I totally agree with this. Whether it was intentional, or just a coincidence, I think it gave them the much needed extra month or so to polish the device, apps, production, for the most critical/judgmental market release.

Samsung Galaxy S4 coming out next week, before the BB10! (United States) 8 core processing power! Dual-core phones are outdated!

  • Reply

tre10 Mar 8, 2013 at 6:31 am

That's the launch, not the actually phone release and besides UX is as much software as it is hardware. BB10 doesn't need 8 cores. We have computers for that itch ;)

  • Reply

irwindersra Mar 8, 2013 at 8:08 am

It's the announcement of the s4 on March 14, it won't be available for sale until probably some time in April. Don't get it twisted bro

Hoofreakinrah-the Twitter update was much needed & is much appreciated! As grateful as I am, it would be good if we could have the option to post tweets to our BBM status' again.

I got the LinkedIn, CB10, & N4BB but no Twitter. As OP said - could rake a day. I can wait, I'll probably be sticking with my Plume sideload anyway.

Facebook really needs fixing. Photos don't rotate, shows my old posts but not new ones. So I use the mobile browser on for that.

CB10, & the updated website, look great. Good work CB!!

Update on #BlackBerry10 software updates - most will be available by end of next week with a few coming in later in the month

I have had about 4 software updates pushed through on my phone from Rogers. First one was a big update size, the next 3 have been about 1mb in size.

Nice to see an update though with some fixes. At least it is somewhat usable now. Prior, I was avoiding twitter completely cuz I hated the app so much.

The LinkedIn update also addresses an issue where links in a LinkedIn Group forum discussion entry will actually launch the browser into the appropriate link web page, etc. And Reader helps when the pages font is not big enough.

Very neat - go to a Group, select a discussion forum, select an entry, tap on the link and voilà!

This did not work in earlier versions.

I'll be counting on ubersocial once they do release a native application.

Until then, I'll be tweeting via identica with the ubersocial android application port once it is released and optimized for blackberry 10. I would give the official twitter thing a try when I get my Q10 though. :)

Edit: HELL YEAH for linkedin.
