The New York Times
By Bla1ze on 30 Jan 2013 04:25 pm EST

Hot off the press (no pun intended) this evening is the release of the New York Times app for those lucky enough to be picking up a BlackBerry Z10. The app provides top news articles free of charge, or users can subscribe for further content, such as video and slide shows.

With deep sharing integration, sharing a news story is only a few screen taps away. Like thousands of new BlackBerry 10 apps you can share via e-mail, SMS, social networks and BBM just to name a few.

You can catch the full press release below along with the download link.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The New York Times ( today launched a news application for BlackBerry® 10, which delivers the latest news and award-winning journalism of The New York Times, designed and formatted for optimal reading for BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

"We're very excited to have The New York Times bring their news app to the BlackBerry 10 platform at launch"

The new app introduces a refined interface that incorporates native BlackBerry 10 features, such as the intuitive BlackBerry flow as well as a compelling design and layout.

The New York Times app includes more than 25 sections news, information and opinion, videos, slide shows, graphics and blogs. Notable features include offline reading, cross-platform article save, breaking news alerts and a full set of share options for articles and multimedia across social media, e-mail and the popular BlackBerry® Messenger (BBMTM) app.

The app offers in-app authentication for subscribers for a streamlined reading experience. Non-subscribers can access the Top News section for free and can purchase digital subscriptions within the app for full access.

Denise Warren, general manager, and Senior Vice President and Chief Advertising Officer, The New York Times Media Group said, "The native functionality of this new app makes it easy for BlackBerry 10 customers to uncover the layers of content available on and share that content for a seamless and rich mobile experience."

glad to see the new app for sure

Why haven't they given us a playbook app as well?

Development for PB OS is as dead as BB7 and lower. Maybe even less so because once BB10 replaces PB OS on the PB no devices will be running the OS, while RIM will support BB7 for lower price phones for some time yet

Until we get blackberry 10 on the playbook.
Development for apps for blackberry 7 is NOT DEAD either.

As soon I get my bb10, I'm gonna down the nyt app and read all the bb10 hatred articles that they published, lol.

I know right. For all the crap they stated about BB and then they make an app for Blackberry's flagship.. what a buncha hypocrites

Pogue wrote a very long, mostly positive, review in today's NYT.

Lol and you can't buy the phone in NY, or anywhere in the US until late March! Very useful! RIM stock is taking a beating after the announcement. BlackBerry's official slogan should be "Just Wait!"

We need BB10 on the Playbook now so we can get in on these new apps...

Throw those of us who bought the 'development device' a bone here!
