Indian BlackBerry stores giving away free microSD cards pre-loaded with movies for new smartphone purchases

By James Richardson on 24 Nov 2012 02:05 pm EST

Over in India, where we know that BlackBerry sales are huge, it seems that the the RIM Premium Stores in Delhi, Gurgaon and Mumbai are now offering an added incentive to get consumers to purchase a new BlackBerry smartphone. Customers will be given, free of charge, a 4GB microSD card with two movies pre-loaded. There are a choice of films for the good people of India to choose from including:

  • Bodyguard
  • 3 idiots
  • Rowdy Rathore
  • Paan Singh Tomar
  • Remember The Titans
  • The Rock
  • Prince of Persia
  • Pirates of the Caribbean 4
  • Gone in 60 Seconds

The word on the street is that this offer will end on January 31st - which is just when BlackBerry 10 is announced. Could this be a quick marketing ploy by the Indian RIM stores to shift some BlackBerry 7 devices before the new platform goes live?

Either way - not a bad idea - perfect for Christmas.

Good marketing..Only 600 million cell phone users and less than half are feature phone users..Imagine all switching to smartphone users withing next 5 years. WHo will win ?? The BB7 for low income people and bb10 for medium to rich people..RIM is well positioned to leverage this. Unlike Apple, made for only developed countried and rich peopple..

Move to India and then go to a RIM Premium store (either in Gurgaon, Mumbai, or Delhi) and buy a new OS7 device. Then move back to the States.

of course, being from the US, your only choices are;
Rowdy Rathore and Paan Singh Tomar

I am visiting India right now...can tell you that BlackBerry is alive and well in Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore.
