Vodafone Germany Releases OS 4.5.0.37
The time has finally come for us to begin waving Farewell to Betas and Hello to Official Releases. Vodafone Germany has released OS version 4.5.0.37 on their website for the BlackBerry 8800, 8310, 8110 and 8100.
It's always recommended to wait for your carrier to release an OS upgrade, but if you're a CrackBerry Addict and just can't wait to get your hands on 4.5 it will install on smartphones of the same model from another carrier (mandatory disclaimer - proceed at your own risk). The files have multilanguage support, so you can of course choose English. And if you're on the old Pearl 8100, the Pearl Color Trackball software is not compatible with 4.5 so be sure to remove that before installing the OS.

i've seen that theres already an OS 4.5.0.42 beta on the market, but does anyone know what extra functionallity this OS adds? or is it just ment to be more stable?

I don't recomment you guys doing the update. I am the blackberry pearl 8100 from T-mobile and it's going slow it took me about 2 hrs to make it work and right now i'm stuck at the loading menu.

I am going to try it on my old 8800, if it fails I will just rest the phone. Nice to have a second berry to test things on :)

Does the 8310 work for the older 8300 Curve? I am using the beta .37 now with my 8300 and it works fine. I think I will wait for an update on AT&T before I move from the Beta to the released version though.
caesarsj Jun 18, 2008 at 2:20 am
yes it works fine and i have no problems with it...

come on 8320 release!!!!
r3g Jun 13, 2008 at 11:37 am
seriously, lets have it!!!
wezra Jun 13, 2008 at 11:08 am
I assume that since the 8800 doesn't support Wi-Fi that this update will not work on the 8820. So it would seem that as much as I would like to update my 8820 I had better wait (most likely when H--- freezes over) until T-Mobile issues their official updates.. if they ever do!

Ok i have a 8820 too. Live in the Netherlands, have Vodafone as my carrier. I really cant wait, i wanna upgrade so bad. Do yo really think my berry will crash if i do? I'm about to do it but i dont wanna f*ck my berry up haha. Tell me should or shouldn't i?
Crackberry User 8320 Jun 13, 2008 at 12:10 pm
#1 will this OS update work on the 8320 ???. It is shown only for 8310 but I guess Vodafone does not carry the 8320. If anyone knows please do share.
#2 I noticed there was already a beta version name 4.5.0.37 so my point is what is the difference, why would they name a beta and an official release the same??? It is the same version, does anyone have any sources to confirm this.

Do we still need to delete the vendor file for this 4.5 OS?
pepsijunky Jun 13, 2008 at 2:05 pm
I just upgraded and it is nice. Video, some nice improvements. I am a fan, pretty easy, delete the vendor file, takes some time but it's worth it.
SurrealCivic Jun 13, 2008 at 3:22 pm
if your vendor isn't vodafone germany, then yes you need to delete the vendor.xml!
Guibs Jun 13, 2008 at 3:25 pm
No 8830 version.... *sigh*

Wow this upgrade when smooth. If you are using the 8100 from T-mobile there are going to be some errors your going to get. I had some issues with my "faves" not showing up but i did a refresh faves. I also got an message with the following text
From: 4700
WV11D!
SI=E6ler5TLOhSUNAv...........Dg--St=(600,"Session Expired")
Don't know what it's though. Also the Windows Live messenger does not work at this time it says "Service not enabled for this handheld." :)
So far i think the upgrade is ok. Here are some updates you should be getting.
UPdates for pearl 8100 T-mobile
My-faves (Bigger icons)
Windows Live MSG (Not Working)
Yahoo Messenger (working)
AIM (Working)
Youtube (Working-Data plan)
Wallpapers
T-Zones (Browser feels much better)
and a few more things.

a little confused as to how to install it it just brings up the desktop manager how do i upgrade the OS itself
Anonymous Jun 13, 2008 at 7:55 pm
All you have to do is download the OS and install it. When your done installing the update it should ask you if you want to open the Desktop manager click yes. Plug in ur Blackberry and the Update should pop up. Follow the steps and don't don't unplug it while its doing the update.
:)

Im having a reboot issue. After installation of the 4.5OS, after about 10 minutes the pearl restarts itself, and takes about another 8-10 minutes to start up.. Also Opera wont load up.. It tries to install and once it does the phone restarts and never saves the install....

I've had the new OS on my 8310 for at&t and it is awesome, here's some of the goodness:
1) Video Capture
2) New blackberry browser, similar to Opera Mini
3) Improved e-mail, more like html viewing
4) New L Theme
5) Address book, font, various other small improvements
It's just better, and it seems to be running very smoothly on my 8310.
I did try the 8100 4.5 on my other phone and it DID NOT take well. Had to downgrade. So there are risks involved. If anyone wants to do it, I will throw down the info I have on it.

Have anyone tried 4.5.0.37 on T-Mobile Curve 8320?
Thanks

I have put this in two machines that both run vista. When the program is installed you can not find it on your computer to run it. Where did it go?
cnit Jul 1, 2008 at 9:14 pm
I have vista too and had the same problem. Had to do a search and create a shortcut. :)

I'm just wondering how stable this "official release" actually is as the betas have reached .42 and counting.

Installed this on T-Mobile 8100 and had rebooting issues as long as I had my microSD card installed. Without the SD card it ran well. Anyone else have the same issue ? Any suggestions on working around the SD card issue apart from taking it out of the phone and losing it coz of its size.
verbal11 Jun 27, 2008 at 1:58 am
I reformatted the SD card and the rebooting issues went away for me.

I'm currently trying to install this on my 8310. I'm on the second to the last step in the Application Loader Wizard, which is "Wait for device initialization." How long does it take to initialize? The hour glass has been turning on the BB for at least 10 minutes right now.
How long should this entire process take?

Hi, I downloaded the new OS. 4.5(37)from Vodafone Germany to my 8310. It downloaded fine, BUT.. I don't see any difference in my emails (like an HTML format) and when I play my videos the button to fast foward now advances the video to my next video in line. Why? Also my browser shows no difference like someone mentioned that it is like Opera Mini? Can someone please advice me on some of these issues? Should I have downloaded the 4.5 (44) OS? Would appreciate help
