BlackBerry 10 SDKs - On the road to gold!

For BlackBerry 10 developers, having the right tools in place to create the best apps possible is highly essential. Thus far, RIM has done a fantastic job with not only creating but also releasing the tools in a timely manner. The work isn't done yet though and they still have a few things to deliver. Luckily, all the SDKs and plans are still on track and here is what developers can look forward to over the next few months.

In addition to all of that fine goodness, RIM is also starting up the BlackBerry Got Game Port-a-Thon. If you're a developer, it's time to load up on some Red Bull and fire up the tools -- it's going to be an exciting next couple of months. If you're looking for some further details, make sure you check out the BlackBerry Dev Blog.

BlackBerry 10 SDKs - On the road to gold!

btw, you know... the countdown timer on the mainpage makes january 30th seem so far away : (

I agree, it does make it seem like forever.

I'd like to see a mobile nation app make it to all the OS's, bb10 first of course

I would like to see this too since it would make it nicer to keep track of all the sites and would go well with the passport idea they are using.

What if we don't see Skye but we see BBM Video Chat that works with Skype so if you have a BB and BBM and your friends do not you can still video chat? Skype would be nice but this would work for me as well.

i really want skype-chat as well

there are quite a few apps i want/need, and others im really interested in

but for messaging/communication i really need facebook, whatsapp and skype on my phone

Those apps are independent of RIM. The developers of those apps decide if they want them to be on BB10. If they aren't, it's NOT rim's fault.

well, that's pretty obvious
im 100% sure RIM tries/tried everything to get skype on BB 10, if it won't be supported...then fuck you, microsoft!

facebook confirmed, whatsapp obviously will be supported as well

so, please microsoft... don't be stupid for once!

I agree. I think it would be in Microsoft's best interest to have Skype on BB10. How valuable does RIM consider Skype on BB10? Enough to give MS access to BBM? That would be a very interesting situation. What affect would that have on Apple and Android, if any?

The owner of Skype has a badly received phone platform that is competing with RIM. Microsoft will do Skype for BB only when they admit that Windows Phone 8 is a turkey. That could take some time. (Pride, flying monitors and chairs).

Does anyone know what "Gamepad" is?

Edit: From BerryReview "RIM is adding Native API’s for HID Gamepad support – In other words we are talking Bluetooth joysticks!" Sweet! That's what I was hoping it meant. So many games would be a lot better with a physical gamepad.

It's raining BlackBerry goodness! Wonder if the Dev Alpha will get an update along with the SDK as well ^_^

And delays will have the media pouncing on another failure to deliver. If these dates are not guaranteed, RIM just bought itself a world of hurt. As it stands with 30 January 2013 as the official launch event for BlackBerry 10 the deadlines are turning into drop dead dates for everything surrounding BlackBerry. They have 2.5 months before announcing public availability of the new devices; seems an eternity in the technology world and to keep the minds of potential buyers engaged. If there is no marketing beginning in early December we face BlackBerry PlayBook redux. Just saying...

Our company just bought a wack full of PlayBooks today.
Everyone just loves them. They are so excited ..... I don't think that they will be able to sleep tonight.

My brother-in-Laws firm purchased 15 a month ago which surprised me as he is an Apple guy. I asked him why and he said I tired of paying too much for $hit that breaks. There you go.

Once BlackBerry OS 10 and the next-generation smartphones are released I will start using the BlackBerry 10 SDK. Hopefully, the BlackBerry PlayBook gets BlackBerry 10 within a few months at most of the release of the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
