Clear-Coat for the BlackBerry Bold 9900

More and more I see people giving up those bulky cases and leaving their BlackBerry Smartphones completely naked, completely unprotected. With an unprotected Smartphone you are just asking for it to get damaged. Remember, that phone you’re holding is worth about five hundred dollars, so isn’t some sort of protection worth it? Now, if you’re still choosing to go without a case, I recommend taking a look at the invisible Clear-Coat full body protection for your BlackBerry Smartphone. Continue reading to see if the Clear-Coat protection for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is for you.

Features:

  • Protects your BlackBerry Bold 9930 or Bold 9900 against scratches
  • 100% Clear - does not affect the look of your BlackBerry Bold 9930 or Bold 9900
  • No bulk! Less than 1/100th of an inch thick Ultra-strong
  • Easy to install
  • Full body protection
  • Works with touchscreens

Installation

Installation of the Clear-Coat for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is actually quite simple, well at least the process. The installation process consists of 8 steps. The step that I found the hardest was getting the pieces of plastic to sit exactly where they are needed. Coming from someone with ‘Smartphone OCD’, this is a very important step. If there is one thing that I have learned during installation, it’s that patience is key. If you rush the installation of the Clear-Coat, you risk the chance of having air bubbles and various other defects in the plastic.

The Good
  • High level scratch resistant Fairly easy installation
  • Low cost
The Bad
  • Doesn’t offer much for drop protection
  • lowers screen sensitivity
The Bottom Line

As devices get thinner and thinner, we as users are far less likely to want to place a case onto our phones, as cases add unwanted bulk. With Clear-Coat for your BlackBerry Smartphone, you are providing your device with full scratch protection but only limited drop protection. I found the installation process quite easy, but some may find the use of liquid during installation a bit daunting.

The Clear-Coat protection is definitely worth the price. It not only allows you to feel protected without the use of a case, but also offers a bit of smudge protection for those touchscreen-based devices.

i would have taken the back cover off first. I would be too afraid to put water anywhere near the back!

Looks good. When will it be available for purchase from the Canadian Crackberry Store?

Not sure, but we have amazing shipping rates to Canada from our US based store. When in the Canadian based store click the link in the top right of the page. That will take you into the American store. Then go back to the post and click the link again, or use the search in the US Shop CrackBerry Store. :)

What's the difference between this and Invisible Shield or any of the other skin protectors? Is one more recommended than the others?

I just bought a brand new phone, 0 seconds of use, original plastic still on it, for $300. You can't tell me that phone is "worth" $500. It may cost that much if you buy it from RIM, but its not worth $500.

jyrbain, your phone is not worth $300 either.

Hello,
Just wondering how many clear coats come with the package?
Is it easy to take off?
How is the sensitivity when moving your fingers on the screen?
Does the holes on the side line up properly?
