I first heard of the Dicota brand right before heading to CES this year in one of the random emails that get sent out. When I checked out the website, I noticed a whole slew of accessories in their "Built for BlackBerry" line and was excited to see them in person. After meeting with Kevin, he promised to send me a few of the products from Dicota so we could review them for all of you. First up on the list is the Dicota Flexi case.
The Review
I use the BlackBerry Charging Pod with my BlackBerry Bold 9930 so a case that comes off easily is a must for me. The Dicota Flexi case is perfect in that respect. The case is made of a semi-transperant impact resistant flexible plastic (TPU) with a cool zig zag print on the back (adds a nice little touch of texture to the case too). The case is such a tight fit that it adds essentially no extra bulk to the device. I've dropped mine several times on everything from hardwood to concrete and my Bold still looks as good as the day I bought it.

The back of the case has a zig zag pattern and perfect fit cutouts for the camera and flash.

The right side of the case fully covers all the buttons.

The left side provides easy access to your 3.5 headset jack and microUSB port. The case sometimes needs to be readjust around the headset jack as you can see in the picture above.

The top button is recessed and can be a little difficult to push. This is actually a good thing since it is less likely to be pushed while inside a pocket.

Nice case. Does NFC work through it?
By the way, I love the buy button on right on top. I don't know if it was there before and I just missed it but it makes it easier for me to just get stuff.

Not 100% sure because I just ordered my first set of NFC tags and haven't gotten a chance to play with them yet. I would contact Dicota and ask them. They're CS is awesome!

Looks like a poorly executed copy of the BB OEM Soft Shell case. I've got the bottle green and it looks brilliant on my black 9900.

i have a 9930, and i experienced more than once that i try making a call, the device connects so other phones will ring but all my audio is muted i cannot ear the phone tone, neither from the ear speaker nor from the speaker phone. i always have to restart my phone. please any tips on how to kill this bug???

I had the same issue with my 9670. Could possibly be faulty speakers. You may want to take it in to have it looked at.

I personally think it's a bug having not noticed it since ive upgraded my os the solution I had as soon as you make a call just press any number key and it will unmute itself

Why do so many of these cases have the small slit of a cutout under the flash? What is that there for?
Kerri Neill Feb 15, 2012 at 7:29 pm
I've wondered that exact same thing!

+1
Could it be because of a speaker?

I think that is where the noise cancellation mic is located.
Mathrin Feb 15, 2012 at 9:13 pm
After watching a Bold 9900 teardown video, that is, in fact, where the noise cancelling mic is located. I don't know how important it is to have the slot there as the cases made by RIM do not have this slit. I would assume that it doesn't hurt to have it there.

Plenty of TPU cases for more reasonable prices and don't even do that moisture thingy and they're all over eBay.
