BlackBerry Torch 9800 owners will be happy to hear that OS 6.0.0.570 has leaked for their device today! If you install this one be sure to swing by the forums and let us know what fixes and findings you discover. As usual, be careful when updating your device and be sure to make a backup before loading this one up.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

I haven't even downloaded it yet. I'm just poking fun at those who with every leak invariably claim all of these benefits with absolutely no way to substanciate them.

Interesting, I just got an Email from RIM stating my device has a software update not 30 minutes ago. Of course the Emails don't state WHAT device so no idea if it is my Torch, or some older phone I no longer use.

Same here. It appears to be for the Torch, however, it doesn't state which release it is, which I find a bit frustrating.

The email is for .526

They rename the files I do not like that have to be careful with files like it, why do that no need now I don't know if it is something else.

I hope all the people will let us know when they are downloading the update. This is far more useful information than findings of the new OS. Oh, if you can't download it now, please tell us why you can't download it as well as when you will be able to do the update. Also, when you do get to sit down at your computer, please update us as to when you are downloading it.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The only thing that annoys me more than people say they are downloading...are people who tell other people not to say they are downloading...do you really think they are going to listen? Then again I don't expect you to listen to me either...

What about the people who tell us they are annoyed about people who tell us they are annoyed about people who tell us they are downloading? But, then you have people who are annoyed by people who are annoyed by...

:-)

Side note: I DL'ed the new OS. The only item I've found is that, for some reason, when I click to go to the app screen sometimes either no apps are listed or not all the apps are listed. It's an easy fix, I go back to home, then back to apps, just an odd bug I've seen.

I am downloading now too, I couldn't download it before because of X, but I can do the update now for which I'm sitting at my computer this minute - did I mention I'm downloading it now? You're welcome.

I wonder how this one compares to the last official OS. I haven't upgraded the OS on my or my girlfriend's Torch since v6.0.0.486

I wonder if this one will be worth upgrading to

cant see much difference at this early stage as not interested in the im apps but still no fix for crackberry

Browser respond better to multi touch and way better then the one before!

Edit: not only browser the whole OS

Whats the deal with the file name? Its a very unusual name as most of them are simply the name of the phone followed by the os....this one is called UYBB6.0_9800

hey do u think having the leak version is better then having the official? just wondering if i should upgrade my phone or not

just because they say that it's a leaked os, that doesn't mean that it's bad or its not good for the device. When you install a leaked os, it just means that it was certified from the carrier and came straight from RIM (Blackberry).

Personally i have installed many leaked os on my devices, whether it was curves, bolds or torches. I never had any serious problems with leaks.

I think it's actually beneficial to have these leaked os. This way the consumer can have the choice to put the absolute latest build on his or her device and if the consumer is experiencing some lags or glitches in their installed build, they won't have to wait for their specific carrier to release an official os.

This way, you can put whatever you want. My advice is go for it and if u don't like or it doesn't work as well as the previous build, u simply go to the previous build.

yes i kinda understand cause i use to dl leak versions of os6 for my pearl 3g and some of them seem laggy and stuff but then when there is an official i just stop dl leaks but yeah sometimes it is better i dont know and now that i have a torch i dont see any updates and im strill debating if i should start dling leaks again

I'm troubleshooting now. I'm not sure what happened. It was working fine for the first ten minutes or so and then when i did a battery pull, I've been stuck in a recycled reboot mode. Pretty frustrating at this point because when it was working, it was great. Very smooth and responsive. I'll keep you all updated as soon as I get anymore information.

I went through my entire night in reboot mode. Going back down to the latest official os and trying the new leaked again.

As of right now, it's been a nightmare.

Pros: The browser seems faster, even smoother actually. The icons as bookmarks are new for me (maybe not for some of you but I just updated from OS .246 to .570... Late I know) yet the font size on most pages have grown a little from ll font. Apps seem smoother, not so much faster though. Color scheme on dial menu on top are now all white instead of colored (not sure if this is a pro but it looks nice)

Cons: web pages seem to not be centered, they leaned toward the left more making the pages have space or so much a lot of room on the right side of web pages. Freezes a bit often but not for long period.

Overall better

i just updated to the most recent update on my Torch. Now what I am seeing is a little bit faster phone. i opened up the camera and it came up faster with no hesitation. The browser seems a little faster but nothing real huge.
Now what i have found that is wrong or messed up is the facebook that i am using is the Beta version that just recently came out. I need a key to get it configured for use due to Beta version. This particular OS build does not allow the paste feature for the Facebook. I am supposed to copy and paste this code into the Facebook but the paste function is not working.
This happened to me before when the Actual ATnT build came out. I had to restore to a previous version in order to use my Facebook.

I will have to go backwards until there is a fix for this.

after youve copied the keycode go back to the fb app the instead of pasting thru the menu push in the tracpad and itll will give u the option to paste

hey razor213 you dont have to go back to the previous facebook version when it asks for you to copy and paste you must use the trackball some updates require the trackball or bb button ok.

I DL'ed the new OS. The only item I've found is that, for some reason, when I click to go to the app screen sometimes either no apps are listed or not all the apps are listed. It's an easy fix, I go back to home, then back to apps, just an odd bug I've seen.

I have hit the 24 hour mark, so far so good. Everything is smoother and snappier, the browser, just slightly. I will see if like all 5 series updates it remains this way after 6 days, that's the point where they usually crap out and my phone works like shit.

As for the browser, it's been a very long time since OS6 and webkit have been released, why on earth can Rim not make this browser performance at least equal the now old browsers of it's competition? It really is the singular major flaw in my Torch. It has by far the best UI of any phone but it's fluidity, speed and rendering is just the worst out of the entire industry. Rim, is it really that difficult?

Suxs! I use Opera mini 6 more than the default browser. The browser is the only true complaint with my Torch so far. I keep hoping for a fix but I just continue to be disappointed. This is the reason i've been thinking of experimenting with another OS (android). I love BlackBerry but I'm jus now beginning to lose patience with RIM. They say they want feedback from Bberry users and so the berry community screams better ENGINE UNDER THE HOOD, BATTERY LIFE, BROWSER, UI and what do they do? They release new phones with the same battery/specs as older phones, browser in leaks and in new official OS's half the time are not even as good as older versions. And honestly, why not at least attempt to improve the music player/speakers, and broaden the target audience. Just wondering. Anyway, I'll continue for now to download the leaks and HOPE RIM hears me and those who echo my sentiments but we all know the defintion of insanity, and I don't plan on being a representative for the illness.

All went fairly well but on install the bar hung between the track pad and back button for about 5mins then finished.
Its started its restore of back up all went ok till last item video loader (1of1 item) left it for about 15mins then pulled the plug.had a notification saying to do a backup restore via DM.That worked.
Few apps needed restarting eg.permissions etc.
Browser is quicker and my pages are central to the screen scrolls and zooms quicker it seems. One thing it does do now which i had problem with was using WiFi on my home router, using BB app world and the browser wouldnt download very fast if no network connection zips along now.
One issue i have had since the last 2 updates is the camera,if there is a light colour against a shadow eg flower petals the light colour is almost white. The white balance seems to be out and i cant adjust it.Grrr!

just dwnloaded and installed, everything seems to be working perfectly, dont really see a difference yet from the previous one. ill keep u guys updated

Changes: -when charging the lightning symbol flashes
-broswer seems more faster and responsive
-main menu seems more faster
-overal phone lags less (did not have to convey as much restarts as last time)
-huge improvement in battery (lasted whole day on single charge)

Bad: -browser does not seemed to be centered properly
-some icons seem to come dwn along when scrolled dwn on the browser
-transitions on main menu aren't as smooth as previous version
-when clearing the log (alt+lglg) the log seems to be out of scale and the words seem to be out of the screen.

Overall I'm liking this update and would recommend it.

I find this to be a slow version everytime I go to bbm it hangs for about 2 seconds. I will be going back to a older version os tomorrow.
