ColorWare now ready to customize the BlackBerry Q10

By Bla1ze on 31 May 2013 12:33 pm EDT

Just in case you don't really fancy the black or white color options for your BlackBerry Q10, the fine folks at ColorWare have now announced they'll gladly go ahead and set you up with pretty much any color you want from their over 45 choices. In addition to the colors offered, you also get to select your finishing options where you can choose from solid and metallic, as well as matte and gloss, provided you don't mind some additional cost added to the price of the device for their services.

Jason Sobotta, VP Business of Development stated, “We’re excited to offer another smartphone to our collection, especially the Q10. It features the classic keyboard that so many customers are still using. Plus the new touch screen gives this classic phone a modern update. Whether it’s for business or personal it’s a great phone for staying connected throughout the day.”

I've always enjoyed the work put out by ColorWare but at the end of the day, cost is always a factor, and I can already hear everyone asking "How much?" Right now, it's a device only purchase and if you're looking to get your device colored more to your liking, you'll be looking to lay down $1100 along with a 7-10 day wait for the device to arrive. With that though, it's important to keep in mind that ColorWare maintains the 1-year warranty and the device you receive from them is also fully carrier unlocked. Anyone going to jump on this?

Keys should be red too.

I like the black keys with the red phone, but the little chin piece below the keys should be black as well. Go to the site and design one this way, it looks a lot better.

I like the Black Keys too - Anyone up for some "Gold on the Ceiling?"

Oh wait, wrong thread...

I didn't go to the site but yeah that probably would look better.

Different!! CoolM

The price...

Posted via CB10

Interesting. But damn that is pricey. Is it just GSM versions theyre selling? Or CDMA versions as well?

Just thinking ,could a 3D printer do the job?

Great business, but the price is a bit hefty though. A price somewhere between $800-$900 would have been better.

for the love of god - somebody should put this post down! Its looking yuck!

Love the idea, that red looks really sharp. That said I have issues with paying more for a paint job however professional or durable that costs more than the device.
I'm thinking to compare, a car that costs $20,000 then being told if I want it a different color that it would cost an extra $80,000.

Yeah...I would prefer $30 for a phantomskinz and call it a day.

Heck at $1100...I would rather add another 9 Benjamins and getting the 24kt gold Q10.

Posted via CB10

Yes, shocking to me. Plus you'd have some disposal value as well.

Posted via CB10

They should offer customization only as well. And needs it to be waaaaaay cheaper. From the disassembly videos on the net, its not really an arduous task to change the housing.

Yup I'm with Jedi! You might as well go gold!

Posted via CB10

I would do it if they would just send parts. Only need battery door and back cover. Hell just a battery door in a customer color would be fine with me.

At $1100 it's a steal. I think I'll order a dozen right away.

Seriously, a paint job that costs as much as the entire phone? Thanks, but no thanks.

$1100? I can buy another Q10 with that price and still have some left over money...

yeah right*

Holy jumping jesus, I was pretty stoked about this till we got to the 1100 part :-/

color ware is the OG. Thanks u guys!!

Posted via CB10

That's cool, not 1100 dollars cool.

Posted via CB10

Folks, this is for the Hollywood elitists who just have to have, fer sher, some color coordination. Since it would be easy to sync your devices, I can imagine Hollywood stars wanting to have matching gowns, shoes, and Blackberry's on the red carpet. What's $1,000 to them? Nothing.

Damn I could buy a laptop with that

For 1100 I believe they give u a q10 so the paint job costs like 350 minus the phone price.

Posted via CB10

We understand this. The fact still remains that this is a pricey paint job.

Posted via CB10

Yes it's still very pricey; but clearly a few posters thought it was just the paint job that costs $1100 and didn't realize that they got a phone as well.

Posted from my Z10 via CB10

They only do the Q10 and Iphone...wth!

Posted via CB10

No joke. Didn't they used to do a ton of different devices?

I could get my car repainted for $1100!

Sent from my Z10!

I like it. And I think red with black keys work myself.

Posted via CB10

OMG! Just read that price! Ridiculous IMO. But it looks nice (not $1100 nice!).

Posted via CB10

A stack for a phone. Mite aswell put another grand and get the gold q10

Posted via CB10

Now that is sexy right there!

Wow, those are hot. I'll be buying a few fooo shooo

Posted via CB10

Nothing for the z10 Aye.

Posted via CB10

I wish I were rich

Whoever pays that kind of money should be slap with a z10...seriously

Posted via CB10

I would love to do this but that price...

Posted via CB10

I've always loved CW, they do an amazing job. Back in the day when they started out, I used to have them do some custom jobs for my export customers to whom price was no object. Those were certainly the days....

That's legit.

Posted via BlackBerry z10

too much...Phone will be switched every 2 years or sooner now...spending $1000+ but the , depreciation will go down fast.

Z10 needs some love from colorware!

Mr Z10

Do they have options for the Z10?

Posted via CB10

Crazy cost for color. Even if it's a quality paint is that worth an extra $500? Nah....nice idea though.

...dat price.

Posted via CB10

So this is just a paint job? I thought they make their own replacement pieces

It's good to see that different customizations are available for Q10. Would stick to original black, though.

Wow wow its nice but too pricey in this hard time

Posted via CB10

What the hell is with the price???

$1100 for unlocked Customized Q10 no contract.

Do the math, not that far off $200 to $300 custom job.

The back of the phone looks exactly like a Q5.

Micke Prag

Wow, it's what a Q10 LE Developer device would have looked like...

Posted via CB10

I just want the side STEEL part red... can i do that

I bet you blackberry themself will add color soon to the model when sales begin to slow.

$1100.00? Sounds reasonable. Btw anyone want a 9900 blackberry. It comes with a myriad of colors by a future renowned artist, my 6 year old! The colors are water based, and done by hand.
Limited time offer! Only one available. If you're willing to pay $1100 for this other place, I'm sure you'll see the value of this once in a lifetime offer.

Posted via CB10

That sounds like an amazing deal, sign me up! If you'd rather I order a custom from ColorWare to just swap straight up, we could do that as well.

Sweet, I'm getting an exclusive.

U could buy the best airbrush and compressor for less than 1100 and have money left over. 1100 for a paint job is a joke. For something that takes about 4/5 hours max not including dry time

Posted via CB10

Ahh it's 1100 including the device. So about 400 for the paint. Not to bad I guess

Posted via CB10

gold rush

And they warranted it for a year. If you were to do this yourself and had hardware issues you'd be out of luck.

Posted via CB10

I guess if you want to be different why not..

Posted via my Z10

If 1100 with free shipping international then it ain't bad..

Posted via my Z10

I hate blackberry q10 like z 10
