Chive On now available to download from BlackBerry World

Chive On

You may recall that we told you recently that Chive On - an unofficial theChive app had been made available as a public beta after failing to make it to BlackBerry World for reasons unknown. The good news is that if you now hit up BlackBerry World you'll find Chive On there - and free to download.

To be honest I'm new to this Chive business so I'm off to educate myself with it now, but for you folk that are familiar, you can now have the the native experience on your BlackBerry 10 smartphone.

Chive On is ad supported but if you want to ditch those you can do so via an in-app purchase of just $0.99.

  • Stay up to date with the latest galleries from theCHIVE (no videos, yet).
  • Add posts to your favorites for easy access.
  • Animated GIF support.
  • Full screen viewing with pinch to zoom.
  • Orientation change support.
  • Photo and post sharing.
  • Ability to set images as your device wallpaper.
  • Save images to your device (requires 'shared files' permissions).
  • Active Frame support showing the latest posts.
  • + Plus more to come!

App Permissions:

  • This application asks for BBM, Shared Files, Device Info and Location permissions. It connects to BBM to allow you to invite others to download, and Shared Files permissions are required to save images to your device. Device Info and Location are needed for the Ad Service.

Chive On now available to download from BlackBerry World

haven't heard of chive or the app?
It's better then any of the Chive apps for android quality wise but with a BB10 feel which makes it easy to do anything.

I've never heard of Chive either. Is it a social media like instagram or what? I guess I'll download to see what's up.

It's more like a collaboration of pics from many sites. Each post consist of a themed collaboration of those pics. Comments can be very entertaining.

Me neither. I hate it when a new social media is invented and then I only hear about it years later when * everybody's* talkin' 'bout it, making me feel like a doofus.

But I'm over that now.
I read it up on de interwebs.

After reading the comments I downloaded the app and removed the add banner, it's very good, a lot like 9gag if that helps anyone. A Lot of funny pictures and memes. Lol mostly girls

Thanks crackberry

You removed the add banner? How about the minus banner? Kept that one? ;-)

It's much smoother than android so IMO yes it's much better experience. I got rid of the ads right away too.

Posted via CB10

Only if you plan on getting rid of the ads. On the Q10 it's unusable with the huge ad bar at the top making the android version the better "free" choice.

I have the APK downloaded from Snap and works perfectly. Just a bunch of different types of photos and stuff, great looking girls too...

Awesome job, Jason! I'm willing to bet that the content was more of the holdup with approval for BlackBerry World than the app itself. I freakin' love Chive!

I used my Z10 to create this CrackBerry madness!

Man that's the fastest I ever paid to remove ads!!! Take my 1.12 CAD and ty for dev for BlackBerry much appreciated

This chive app is down to the point, works great, 1$ to remove the ad, oh well I'll support with a buck to every app like this one. Keep calm and chive on, and keep on keeping on...we would love for someone to make vine app, that would be cool.

Posted via CB10

Umm someone is making a native Cascades vine app. It's called Whine. It is in the final stages of beta and will be released soon. Go look for the thread on the CrackBerry forums.

I love the app, one suggestion i have so far is to be able to hide navigation menu and status/title bar on top, especially in vertical orientation.

I downloaded and purchased the ad free version but I have deleted it but it's a good running app that I'm sure many will find entertaining.

Downloaded. And paid to remove apps.

I was like 'shut up and take my money' hah

Great app. Especially for Chive fans!

Works better than running the android app!

Great app! Happily paid to remove the ads. I wasn't familiar with the Chive before but glad to have found it now! Very well built and does what it says it does. KCCO all day!

No!! What happened it was so good now it's not nearly as good with that huge banner add
The pic is so small now on the Q10

Slow as hell. Not that happy with it really. - C00012735/ Mike Garson Photography - C00471EA8 but it's not battery optimized. Some serious drain is occurring... upwards of 3%

Chive is pointless.

It's basically cat pictures, memes, and cheesy sayings that were on Reddit weeks earlier.

If you've ever seen the Slowpoke meme you too can be a real time version of that meme: "hey guys did you see this on chive?" To which everyone you ask will say "why yes I saw that on Reddit 2 years ago."

Wow. Another satisfied customer. No need to stop and look folks. The ambulance has been called and we will get this mess cleaned up momentarily. Lol. KCCO.

Lots of hype for a poor app. Between the lack of setting, what's seems slower then their browser site. There is nothing special here. Over hyped

Yup...ooOoOooo...yup, oh i like that too...oh my, K it works great now stop distracting me with writing this post. KCCO!

Better than poo berrys
