Early in June it was announced that RIM would be holding a cascades webcast entitled "Astonishing UIs using the new BlackBerry 10 framework". The free webcast is due to be broadcast today, June 19th at 11am EST / 8am PST, however due to the overwhelming number to registrants it webcast has been extended to five days to accommodate more people.

The webcast takes a look how to create great looking apps using cascades, just as the name suggests. It will be pretty similar to what took place at BlackBerry World in Orlando, as well as the BlackBerry 10 Jam sessions on tour. So, if you're not able to attend any of the BlackBerry 10 Jam World Tour stops or if you attended the Web track sessions and want to check out what cascades has to offer, then register for the webcast today.

The added dates are:

  • Tue. June 19, 2012 at 11:00 am EST/8:00 am PST
  • Wed. June 20, 2012 at 11:00 am EST/8:00 am PST
  • Wed. June 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm EST/11:00 am PST
  • Thu. June 21, 2012 at 11:00 am EST/8:00 am PST
  • Thu. June 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm EST/11:00 am PST

Cascades webcast extended to five sessions over three days due to high demand

Same here. I signed up right away, and yesterday selected the 11am EST for today(June 19) but I never received an email with a link to the actual webcast. And now it's full.

The only emails I received was the initial confirmation email and a follow-up asking me to select one of the 5 times. The only links in either of those emails took me to the registration page... Kind of pissed off.

I couldn't login, got the message saying the sessions was full. I don't see what's the point in registering people in advance and then overbooking it.

Those who registered in advance were sent another e-mail asking them to register for a specific session, as the number of sessions had to be increased due to demand.

On a side note: The webcast was pretty informative. Learned a lot, and should give me a better understanding for when I attend Jam in two days. There were just over a 100 people for the initial webcast.

Same. if you have a reservation, you should be able to log in and out thruout the entire presentation. I am a bit pissed, I may not be as busy as others, however, the time was set aside for this. Oh well. GUess I wait for the repeats from kevin. mutter........... by the way, what would it really take to increase the bandwidth for the webcast?....

I also got an email reminder with an attachment "invite.ics" and that's it. I only have a link to that registration page... that's all. Nowhere to login and see a webcast "timer countdown" as I normally would expect.

Should I be waiting for another email with a webcast link at 11am today (which is what I'm registered for) ???

------UPDATE---------

Ok, I tried the link again and instead of registration it allowed me to enter my email and connect to the webcast!

I guess you have to wait until 10 minutes before and then try your luck to connect until it fills up.

couldn't get in session full. How could it be full for a registered user? I event receive an appointment attachment for BlackBerry calendar.

you should receive an email for a calendar date and within the email there is an attachment a .ics file download that open it and towards the bottom there is a link you will need to click on that 10min or less before the start of the webinar
