Will this work on a 9650 with a leaked 6.0?

Posted by VinceThePrince Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

OS 6 versions will be a free upgrade once RIM releases the updated Theme Builder for them =)

Posted by yeahboyyy Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Seems like RIM is taking forever.

Posted by yeahboyyy Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

I got my answer :(

Posted by DrewDT Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Just curious, why is there such a demand for themes for people to pretend they are using a different device? Why not just get that device and get the full experience instead of pasting a facade onto your screen?

Posted by yeahboyyy Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Maybe they like the looks but don't want to give up the bb os for a crappier droid.

Posted by VinceThePrince Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

This.

(more or less)

Posted by AJFSTORM Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

If Droids are "crappier", why imitate them?

Posted by yeahboyyy Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

So let me repeat...people might want the LOOKS without the OS. Understand now or do I need to dumb it down more for a droid fanboy?

So basically, what you're saying is the equivalent of putting a body kit on a Fiat to try and make it look like a Ferrari.

Posted by VinceThePrince Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

I'm sure he means BlackBerry is better suited to his needs, though he likes Droids for how they look :)

I personally love both platforms, I rock a BB and a Nexus One with the custom Desire HD rom.

Posted by 67Tucker Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Crappier Droid? Yea, OK. I'm still waiting for ANY OTHER PLATFORM to make a theme emulating a Blackberry. Nevermind, not gonna happen!

Posted by BBThemes Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

i remember seeing ages ago a storm theme for the iphone, was when the storm launched but its still out there

Fail! Those were just photoshopped images, and you had to go back to 2008 to find those. Hahahaha!

heres the video of it running.

google - it knows everything :)

Lol..your FAIL failed Tucker. You need to step your troll up yo! You slippin'

Posted by r0gueleader Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Aside from being pretty, droids are fairly crappy. That's why BB users want themes of it without actually having to use the actual shitty OS.

Posted by JosephN Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Idk why but I suppose its because people just want to set themselves apart from other people in the sense that they have something diffrent. Personally I like BB6 and I'm not tryna change it.

Posted by corymcnutt Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Changing themes/looks is one of the great reasons to own a BlackBerry. We have so many options to choose from; and while it changes the look, it still has the core feeling of a BlackBerry.

Posted by experiment626 Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Will the Sense weather animations work the same on this theme?

Posted by VinceThePrince Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

You'll need to speak with your friendly neighborhood BerryWeather devs for something like that. I don't control the weather apps =P

Posted by Pootermobile Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Not this argument again! Who cares what OS a theme is emulating. I appreciate the talent theme developers have to be able to do this. If it looks and works good just sit back and enjoy your BlackBerry even more. Awesome work Vince :)

Thanks Pooter, means a lot coming from you!

I don't know if this is going to help anyone but, this theme does not work well at all on the 9800 running the last laked os... So if you are an user of the 9800 and want this theme, wait for an update.

And as far as I'm concerned about the Android platform, its not that bad... I have a Moto Milestone and android its not that bad... But I like blackberry better and the possibility to change themes how I want its nice! On android you need to get apps like sweeter home or hack the device, witch is not obvious.

And yes there is themes for android and iphone to look like Blackberry os 5. So don't bullshit if you don't know. I did try them on both ( I also have an iPhone 3G ).

Posted by BBThemes Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

hi there, sorry but your wrong. this theme does work on the torch, iv run it personally on 284 and 337, and both without any issues.

Posted by elche1988 Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

On mine, when I try to flip from a page to the other, they like all freeze together on the same page, i end up having the 3 of them on the top of each other. The other thing I put the phone on landscape and there is no more icons, nothing. And the more annoying is the theme switcher button, like no matter what I touch on the bottom of the screen, that thing keeps on showing on... Plus when you switch from a page to an other ( when they are not stuck all together ) its slow as hell... So I am not wrong. If you want ill post a video on Youtube just to snow you that I'm not wrong at all.

Themes and things like this only brings blackberry's down. What it's the intention of this? "Droid Wanna Be" other example is Iphone themes ? Come guys, Developers, do better than this. The Blackberry is behind as it is.... develop better things, better apps, and games.... let's make the Blackberry devices better devices.
For the Crackberry staff, guys.... your voice is followed all over the world.... make it count. Try to post better things. Instead of discouraging your readers over their mobile devices or their "plataform", try to highlight
signature things. Things that will make people love even more their Blackberry's, over a droid, over an iphone....

Posted by BBThemes Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

how are cb writers discouraging people by showig them how versatile blackberrys are that they also run real cool themes?
alot of people look at the sense ui on phones and go `ooo that looks pretty` and thats what sells them, so if ya can have that look on bb with all the great functionality of a bb then i cant ever see that as a negative

Posted by gcstorage Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Is discouraging for the simple fact that any droid has a his own, themes, apps, quality games. And the Blackberry developers are using their time and thoughs, tring to emulate the competitors, they are using their knoledge, to put the Blackberrys side by side to a droid, instead to put blackberry far beyond any other device...

Posted by elche1988 Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

I agree on that one.

Posted by VinceThePrince Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

I don't mean to offend you, but I think you are missing the point. For many, this is precisely why people "love their BlackBerry's even more". They have the CHOICE of being able to install a theme that looks and does just about anything they want it to. Let's not kid ourselves here, the default look isn't exactly the prettiest thing to look at. Either people choose to stick to default, or go out and install something more visually appealing, depending on what works for them. The keyword is CHOOSE.

Bottom line: it's a THEME that changes your homescreen, not the fundamental operation of the device. We are in no way insulting the BlackBerry as a device by hacking it to run an Android ROM because it's an inferior OS.

Posted by gcstorage Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

I aprreciate you comment, and reply. I have to question for you. Why people love their blackberry even more ?
Beyond the choice of a theme to make it look like a droid or iphone. We know, the blackberry isnt same, product and i think that we are wasting bullets trying to look like but When it comes down to, the Blackberry is bb meseenger. Other plataforms are reaching far beyond bb pin, for example the iphone, they don't not have the "pin" but they have their face time. If they promote it well, they will take away the greatness of the bb pin.
the posibility of having a video chat, based on data over the internet. from a mobile phone to any other phone, even mac or ipod anywhere in the world. no long distance charges.
How this was possible? With the developers effort and ideas to be better than bb pin. That's the type of thinking that we need in the bb team.

Buttom line: every other plataform is trying to get ahead of the curve, on the mobile race and blackberry developers are trying to be side by side instead of try to stay ahead in the race...

Vince, I do have one question for you though. It seems as though email and text applications do not recognize the default font size that I have set for my bb and has zoomed way in on these. Is this something you are aware of? Will a release down the road fix this or am doing something wrong here.

Got the theme on my 9800, looks great

Posted by bluedarter Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Nice work Vince, there works great on 337 and just so you are all updated, Weatherbug integrates perfectly on this theme. To address the whole "Android" comments, it's a CHOICE, just as Vince stated. You want a different look on your BB, perfect get a theme. Allows us to customize.

Love the theme Vince, thanks for your work on it.

Posted by CocoaBlossom Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

The theme seems to be well done. But i don't understand why people want to put Sense on their BB. If they want Sense, they should buy an HTC instead of a BlackBerry.

Posted by kris926 Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

It's amazing how some people want to always turn to bashing other devices no matter what the subject is! For those who say "just get a Droid" or "why try to be like Android"...Sense is just a skin or theme applied to a stock os. Variations have been put on Android and the old Winmo phones. This theme just gives people who choose to use a Blackberry a different look that they may like. Some people can't get a different phone or are locked to a specific carrier. If you don't like the theme, don't buy it. If you don't like Blackberries, GET OFF THE BOARDS!
Thanks for your hard work Vince. I like it and am looking forward to 2.0

$2.99 for a theme? I don't understand why the price on themes has to be from $3 - $7. Seriously. It doesn't make sense. When game apps for the iPhone run anywhere from free to $1.99 as the AVERAGE price, I sure as shit won't be spending more than that on a bloody theme - no matter how good it looks.

This is one thing that sets the iPhone apart from all the other devices...affordable apps. I wish BlackBerry developers and RIM would get on board and start doing the same thing...

With that out of the way, it looks like a cool theme. Would I try it? Yes. If there was a free version that expired after 24 hours I'd do it. If I liked it and it was priced at $1.99 I'd probably buy it!

Posted by kwkid Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

The developer chooses the price. It is your choice whether you purchase or not. I have paid as much as 7 dollars for a theme that I really liked and don't feel like I was ripped off as it was my choice to purchase. The fact that a competitor markets apps cheaper is totally irrelevant, it is your choice what and where you buy, but you shouldn't criticize my choice to purchase, or not, at a price I am comfortable with.

Posted by DrewDT Tuesday, Nov 16, 2010 554 days ago

I'm not sure how you read into his post that he was criticizing you or anyone else for how you choose to spend your dollars. He asked a legitimate question that we have never really gotten a satisfactory answer as to why similar apps on BB versus other phones vary so greatly in price. This has become a sticking point for many people in their decision to go to another platform. Of course it is our own choice on what we decide to buy, it is also our right to ask questions regarding the perceived value of items. That is called consumerism, it serves as a good counterbalance to capitalism.

Works pretty good with my 9550, a little laggy but ok. BUT... The date is cut off under the main clock (all i see is "Novemb")and when its in landscape mode all I see is the default image with no date, time, etc. I can only select the BB key to launch the menu. It doesn't come up automatically or anything.

Posted by CarolynBlack Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

I love this theme. So clean, and the icons are great.
Thank you for creating it.

Posted by kwkid Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Just purchased and I really, really like this theme. The only criticism I have is that you cannot use it in landscape mode which seems sort of odd. But even that doesn't stop me from using this theme, it just oozes class, is very clean and crisp, and best of all gets rid of all those other screens I never use, ie. downloads, frequent, etc.

Posted by big vlad Monday, Nov 15, 2010 555 days ago

Just purchased, looks good. My only issue so far is the date is cut off. My date just reads "Monday, Novemb".

Posted by west65 Tuesday, Nov 16, 2010 554 days ago

I bought this theme yesterday and I thought it would be a pretty good buy for $3. It is a nice set up however it is not for me. The most important con is that it is slow when scrolling from one page to the next.

Nice pick up for $3....but I would pass.

Posted by GlennTX Thursday, Nov 18, 2010 552 days ago

Landscape mode is a blank screen on the 9800. Sucks cause most of the time mine is on the cradle.

Posted by otherguy41 Sunday, Nov 21, 2010 549 days ago

just got a Torch yesterday and unlocked it for T-Mobile. Tried out this theme and it looks great but I'm having buggy problems. Kept freezing, would actually switch from default theme to the metal theme randomly, icons moved around without me doing it and then it carried over to when I switched back to stock os6 in that icons moved around and I had move them around like I had before. On my 9700, my icons revert back to how they were last you ran a previous theme when you switch back to a theme.

Maybe I need to uninstall and reinstall...
