If you own a BlackBerry Z10 or Z30 and you fancy a bit of awesome car racing you have to try out Blur Overdrive. Not only is it a free download, but it totally rocks!

Although in each race coming first is always good there is more to Blur Overdrive than your average racing game. As you move around one of the many courses you'll pass over various power-ups. Some give you a boost, others will repair your car and my favorite is the gun which you can fire at your opponents to slow them down.

In terms of controls there are three options with this one. I found the on-screen steering wheel to be best but you can switch to either a slide left/right or virtual joy pad.

Accelerating is achieved automatically once you touch the direction controls and over on the bottom right of the screen you will also have a brake pedal - although I didn't tend to use that much. It's more fun sliding around those corners and the smoothness in the game is glorious - just like the graphics.

Although the game is free to download and play there are some in-app purchases if you so desire. Like many other racing games you can upgrade your car and make a ton of customizations, which if you are impatient, may see you spending some money, but that's your choice.

Overall I'd say that Blur Overdrive is a must have download if you own an all-touch BlackBerry 10 smartphone. The graphics and gameplay are spot on, but be warned - you may well get addicted. That's a good thing though!

Features include:

  • 4 RACING CLASSES AND 10+ SPECIAL EVENTS
  • 8 AWESOME POWER UPS - MINES, SHIELD, SHUNT, NITRO, SHOCK, BARGE, REPAIR & BOLTS.
  • 25 CARS TO OWN, DRIVE AND RACE
  • REALISTIC AND REWARDING HANDLING MODE ACROSS THE 4 CLASSES
  • 250 CUSTOMIZATIONS TO BEEF UP YOUR CAR

Yeah they do! We call those FREEMIUM games. Free to download but if you want to pass a level you need a key that you keep playing 100+ hours for to attempt to get enough money for the key or pay $99 to get a bundle of coins with an extra 20% more coins so you can purchase the damn key! Man....I got some anger issues with freemium games. I might want to talk to someone about that.

Each Freemium game incorporates in app purchases differently. Play the game before you complain about it, and then specify what you're complaining about. I beat this game in about a week, no purchases, playing two or three times per day. For mobile gaming, that's all I really have time for. Use your Premium currency wisely by reducing the time it takes for your gas to refuel, and by upgrading your diapers.

It was a joke. Experience from my old Android days. I don't do freemium since switching to BlackBerry back in June of 2013.

This is just F****D up, every time developers release their games they only have the Z10 and the Z30 in mind and rarely any decent games for the Qwerty devices.... Nx!

This game was built for other devices Kong before it came to blackberry. Your qwerty devices is a sub market of a sub market. There's no money in it for developers.

Small screen is a waist of time zif you want to play games get a Z if you want a buiss phone and a few other apps go get a Q device

This game would be awesome but it NEEDS to add game pad support. Seriously I cannot play these games with touchscreen controls.

Would take a few minutes for the dev to add and I would be able to play :)

If you want games, get the Z phones. The Q series are strictly for email & communication. Shouldn't be any shocking revelation that most games are for larger wide screens than a tiny square screen.

And as for the game, it is quite a good one for sure.

Installed new os 10.2.1.1259 on my Z30. Lightening speed, agility, no hangs up, greater and faster charging and extended battery life are key features.
