Accessory Review: Freedom Keychain GPS 2000

Freedom Keychain GPS

Are you looking for a GPS replacement? Do you go for the “stand-alone?” Do you use a Bluetooth GPS Puck? Or do you opt for the Freedom Keychain GPS?

Manufactured by Freedom Input , I have listened to and read some glowing reviews on this remarkably small device. In fact, I'd recomment checking out the Podcast Review of the the Freedom Mini GPS Keychain done back in October by Leo Laporte on the Daily Giz Whiz show. Leo actually picked up his Freedom Keychain from the ShopCrackBerry.com store (his favorite BlackBerry store by the way!). CrackBerry.com's sibling site, TreoCentral.com, also posted an informative review of this device that's worth a read.

While the Freedom Keychain Puck has a great reputation, I'm still the kind of guy who holds an opinion until getting some hands-on experience, so I waited for the puck to arrive with anticipation.

Smartphone Experts OpenFace Leather Case for the BlackBerry 8800 Series

Quality Doesn't Have to Mean Expensive
Every BlackBerry user should try and protect their device rather than see it get ruined by constant use (or is it abuse?!). Between top pouches, side pouches, holsters, hard cases, skins and more, a plethora of choices are available that can more than adequately do the job. With each style of casing having its own pros and cons, you may find yourself having to try a few different options out before ultimately finding the perfect case that works best for your particular needs.

The time had come for me to try an open face leather case. When I received Smartphone Expert’s Open Face Case for my BlackBerry 8800, I knew I knew I was looking at a winner – with a price tag of only $19.95, I could immediate tell this case offered great value. The Cream/Brandy combination I received looks rich, but like all Smartphone Experts cases the Open Face Leather case comes in a variety of popular colors. And if you're not an 8800 user, don't worry - Smartphone Experts also offers this case for the BlackBerry Curve and BlackBerry Pearl.

Review: Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth Headset

Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth Headset

Fashionable Doesn’t Mean Poor Quality…
A big fan and long-time user of the Nokia BH-700 Bluetooth Headset, I was excited to get my hands on the Nokia BH-800 and put it to the test. A high-end headset (MSRP: $179.95, ShopCrackBerry: $89.95) with one of the best battery life’s around, the BH-800 weighs in at only 9g, which is light enough for Nokia to claim the use of the included ear loop to be “optional”. Looking at the specs of the BH-800, it’s clear the Finnish company has created a strong competitor to some of the other leading headsets on the market and from previous experience with Nokia Bluetooth headsets I know their claims aren’t hyped.

Review: RexRegina Morgan Case for BlackBerry Curve/8800

RexRegina Morgan Case

Finally, I am able to reveal the availability of a new case, designed essentially for the BlackBerry 8800, but that also fits the BlackBerry Curve. I have been using the RexRegina Morgan Case, in Black Lizard Embossed Leather trim, for about 4 weeks now after what was a lengthy yet very productive creation time on RexRegina's end. The production effort was worth it! RexRegina have made several cases that will, in my opinion, fend off competitors.

First Impression
We have all seen a line of quality leather pouches, cases, etc. but on arrival of the Pouch from RexRegina, I was left almost stunned. The Italian leather really stands out, which isn't a total surprise when you consider most of the leather cases currently on the market are made with the less expensive Asian Leathers (most of them are merely surface painted, instead of being aniline dyed). The Morgan case is available in three embossed leather finishes: Lizard, Crocodile, and Vegetable Tanned.
