Review: Motorola S9 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones/Headset
Posted in Bluetooth Headsets on 02 Oct 2007 10:16 by Remik Szul | 51 comments

Motorola S9 Bluetooth Headset

Wireless Music with Lightweight Design for Active Individuals
The Motorola S9s are geared towards active BlackBerry and Bluetooth device users. Providing lightweight, water and sweat resistant technology that allow you to use your BlackBerry, or any other Bluetooth device for that matter with ease without getting tangled in cords. Trying to run on a treadmill at the gym with regular ear bud corded headphones can get quite annoying at times. Perhaps it’s the fact that the cord is not long enough to be able to place your device on the treadmill and run freely without the cord getting in the way every time you take a stride. The technology is here, so going cordless seems like the perfect fit. At $74.95 the Motorola S9s come priced comparable to other headsets on the market (slightly under), such as the Samsung SBH170 which are available for $89.95 and are slightly less expensive than the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 which are $119.99.

BlackBerry 8800 Makes PC World Top100
Posted in on 22 May 2007 23:00 by Remik Szul | 0 comments

PCWORLD

PC World put out their annual Top100 devices list. Their staff went over the list of electronic devices in 2007 and the BlackBerry 8800 scored an impressive fifth spot putting it among some elite electronic devices from this past year. Not a bad showing for RIM - the 8800 came in just behind the craze-of-the-year Nintendo Wii (which everyone and their mother wants) and the Intel Core 2 Duo (which is featured in 1 of every 2 computers sold). Check out the rest of the list over at PC World.

BlackBerry outage cripples US Government...
Posted in on 20 Apr 2007 13:31 by Remik Szul | 0 comments

Wall St BlackBerry

Well not quite, but nevertheless the recent BlackBerry outage brought a slow down to both the White House and Wall St. It's common knowledge that most people on Wall St rely on their BlackBerry to do their job, but I never realized so do most politicians.

"At the U.S. Capitol, where lawmakers and staffers rely on the BlackBerry to keep plugged into shifting legislative and political battles, the outage was crippling."

Or perhaps it was an attack by us Canadians on the US Tongue out Nah! Didn’t think so. Anyone got Bush's PIN#? Read more about this story. Original Article over at Yahoo.

From 'Brick' to BlackBerry
Posted in Editorial on 09 Apr 2007 13:36 by Remik Szul | 0 comments

The First Cellular Phones Looked Like BricksIt’s hard to imagine our lives without our cell phones now, but in reality cell phones are still fairly new technology. The original mobile phone was the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X which got FCC acceptance in 1983.

Believe it or not, it would have set you back $3,995 to be the coolest cat on the block. Even more astonishing is the fact that it took Motorola fifteen years of research and $100 million to come up with the technology. So what did “the brick” offer? How about 30 minutes of talk time, eight hours standby time, and only took 10 hours to recharge. It even let you store up to thirty numbers.

This was the start of the cell phone evolution, or should I say revolution. As more companies started developing cell phones and networks were established, consumers demand went up as prices fell. Now a day, some countries have more mobile phones than people, and in 2005 it was estimate that 2.14 Billion people were cell phone subscribers.

The DynaTAC has lead the path to the devices we’ve come to love now, such as the Motorola RAZR V3, Blackberries, IPhone, and Palm Treo. With cell phones offering the ability to SMS, check email, browse the internet, listen to mp3s, it really makes you wonder what’s in store in the future of cell phones.

Lindsay, Paris and Nicky upgrade to the 8800

It sure didn't take long for Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and her sister Nicky to toss their 8700s and move up to the new BlackBerry 8800.

I wonder if they even pay for these things?!

CrackBerry Gadgets

USB ChargerSo I'm eating my healthy chunky soup meal of champions in the office on my lunch hour, reading an old issue of Popular Science (Yes, I'm a Geek) when I stumbled upon something cool that caught my eye. You can actually build your own USB device charger for less than $15. Better yet, how about it be in a snazzy looking Altoids Gum Tin package.

That’s right, over at The Original Electroids Co, you can pick up your very own Altoids Tin can USB charging kit, which can be used to charge any USB device using your regular inexpensive 9Volt battery. Popular Science claims a single 9Volt has the ability to charge most devices two or three times.

There is a guide on Instructables on how to make your own at home, although I admit it’s not as sleek as an Atloids Can. Great gadget to have on you if your CrackBerry battery is ever running low, and you have some important calls to make.

Stay tuned, I'm going to build my own CrackBerry.com USB Charger.

Google Phone Coming?
Posted in Berry-Free Talk on 06 Mar 2007 14:29 by Remik Szul | 0 comments

GooglePhone
It seems like Google is trying too diversify their portfolio some more, like they don't have enough projects on the go already?

Nevertheless, rumors report that Google and Samsung are teaming up on a new phone to compete with the upcoming IPhone, possibly named the Google Switch. The phone seems to be a complete touch screen device, but does not seem as flashy or sleek as the IPhone. Could this be the IPhone killer or just a internet photoshopped hoax?

BlackBerry Orphans
Posted in Editorial on 02 Mar 2007 11:52 by Remik Szul | 0 comments

CrackBerry OrphansA new alarming trend is happening, and it can be blamed on none other than the little BlackBerry and Smart Phones we’ve come too love. My apologies if you’ve read this already, as this article is a few months old, but The Wall Street Journal Online had posted an article titled ‘BlackBerry Orphans’. Parents are actually neglecting or often even endangering their children with their constant use of the BlackBerry. Typing away as they drive, and sneaking around the house hiding their addiction from their children. Check out the Article on The Wall Street Journal Online .
