Accept payments on the go from your BlackBerry with PayAnywhere

PayAnywhere

To be quite honest, it is about time that a mobile payment company decided to bring their application to BlackBerry considering how many business users are out there, and how much potential there is for the applicaiton on the platform. Yesterday PayAnywhere, a mobile payment processing company, announced their new BlackBerry application which will allow people to accept payments while on the go. There are several other applications and accessories which aim to do the same, but PayAnywhere has taken it to the next level. Not only have they come in with the lowest rate in the industry for processing fees, but from what I have seen in using the others available for other platforms, they also have incorporated the most features by far.

BlackBerry users can now easily create receipts, accept payments, and more while on the go right from their beloved BlackBerry device. No business is to large or to small for PayAnywhere, so if you are interested in accepting payments while on the go, be sure to hit the break and check it out in action, and get one for yourself today!

Leaked OS 7.1.0.402 for the BlackBerry Bold 9790

Bold 9790

OS 7.1.0.402 has leaked for the BlackBerry Bold 9790. This is an unofficial (leaked) OS, so while it's mostly safe to install, remember to use caution when updating your device. If you need help along the way, you can head into our help forums or check out some of our BlackBerry 101 articles including How to Install or Upgrade to a new OS or How to Upgrade Your BlackBerry OS Using App Loader. If you do install this OS, hit up the forums thread below for findings, fixes and more discussion.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS).

* Thanks, Lyricidal & ALKi3

White BlackBerry Bold 9790 surfaces again, release to follow soon?

White Bold 9790 White 9790

We have known for a couple of months now that the BlackBerry Bold 9790 would be available in white as well as the standard black color, but the details were few and far between. Some leaked slides back in January showed that we would see a Q2 of 2012 release for the white device, and lately we have seen some of them popping up around various places. Last month forums member bligui got their hands on one and showed it off, and now forums member radewa shows off some more pictures. We can only hope that this means that the beautiful white Bold 9790 release is coming soon, and that users will be able to claim one for themselves. Hop in the forums to check it all out, and let us know if the white Bold 9790 will be your next device!

BlackBerry P'9981 OS 7.1 update coming soon?

It appears as though the time has finally come for all the patient Porsche Designed P'9981 owners. CrackBerry forums member Abbas was able to get his P'9981 updated at a recent event in Dubai, and took to the internet to show us what the update will bring. Just yesterday Kevin introduced clubp9981.com for all the P'9981 owners (yes, all 3 of you) and odds are that they are probably talking about the update in there. If you're not a P'9981 owner, don't worry because you can all get a peak at the update as well. The update is said to be hitting this week which we hope is true so Kevin can have it before BlackBerry World (or lord help us all). Check out the video above and be sure to hop in the forums for more.

Bluetooth Comparison

Music is a huge part of many lives. Whether sitting at home or on the go, many of us love to listen to our favorite tunes with great quality. If you are on the go and moving constantly, odds are you want to simplify your life, and instead of having a wire connected from your device to your headphones, you are probably looking for a new bluetooth option. Stereo bluetooth headsets are a great convenience when on the go and listening to your music; not only do they give you stereo sound without the wires, but they give you the ability to answer your phone calls as well.

With several different options available to be purchased, making the right decision can be a difficult task. Is the price tag of the Motorola S9-HD the most appealing to you, or the 8 hour battery life of the Motorola S10-HD's what makes the deal? Would you rather have the added flexability of the Plantronics Backbeat 903's instead of the fixed style that the Motorola headsets offer? Fear not, CrackBerry nation, we are here to help you answer some of these questions. Let's hit the break and check out how they compare, and help you decide which one is right for you.

The Becoming: Brothers in Arms

Many of us love our BlackBerry keyboards, but do you love yours enough to be able to write an entire book on it? Well how about not just one book, but two or three of them? CrackBerry forums member Jessica Meigs has taken to her beloved BlackBerry to write a series of books which she has titled The Becoming, and it even features the Michaluk virus (after our very own Kevin Michaluk). The series is about a group of people who are trying to survive a viral outbreak in the southwest of the United States. This edition, The Becoming: Brothers in Arms, can be read either before or after the first book, as it's a background story for some of the characters and won't spoil / require any previous or additional reading.

If you are looking for something new to read on your BlackBerry PlayBook or BlackBerry device be sure to grab this novella while it is free on Amazon. You can check out how to get the Kindle App on your BlackBerry PlayBook if you haven't already, and pick up The Becoming: Brothers in Arms at the link below. This novella is free through Saturday!

Sketch w Friends

If you were a fan of Sketch w Friends before, prepare yourself to be blow away by version 2.0. Early this morning the developer took to the forums to let us know that they have made version 2.0 available to the masses and wow, have they changed the game with this. The developers have added a number of new features to enhace the game play, along with adding even more rooms for the free users. Included in the new update is -

  • Friends & Family: Private Rooms where you can invite your Facebook friends to play, with a maximum limit of 8 people per room. This feature is available only for paid users.
  • Artistry: A special drawing zone where you can draw at length and share your sketches on Facebook and Twitter. We are planning on hosting some contests around this feature on our Facebook page so start sharpening your drawing skills right away and make sure you are connected to us on Facebook
  • Me vs Bot: Not in a mood to draw? No worries; brush up your gaming skills against our friendly robot and have fun!

If you currently have Sketch w Friends installed be sure to grab the update, and if you have yet to try it out, you will definitely want to do so today!

Desk Dock Patent

The motions begin behind the scenes long before something ever hits the market for consumers, and it appears as though RIM has a desktop phone dock of sorts in the works for BlackBerry devices. This dock would allow you, while at your desk, to place your device inside and have access to your contact book, phone and more.

Allowing you to use your cell phone as a desk line is something Enterprise customers could definitely find good use for. The patent has been in filing for a while and of course we have no idea when this would surface, if it does at all. Always good to see things happening behind the scenes and here's to hoping for a matching desk dock for our new BlackBerry 10 devices!

Install the BlackBerry fonts on your BlackBerry device today!

BlackBerry Font

Customizing your BlackBerry device is something that many of us like to do, whether it be changing wallpapers, themes, or just changing the font of the device. Personally I am a huge fan of the stock BlackBerry 7 look paired with the right wallpaper, but one thing I enjoy is changing up the fonts every once and a while. While crusing through the forums the other day I noticed a thread asking why RIM doesn't use the BlackBerry font in the device.

Immediately I was intrigued, then after reading through the thread there were some download links for the fonts, and a quick how to for quickly and easily getting these fonts onto your very own device. Of course I had to give it a go, and I must say I am happy I spent the 60 seconds doing so. If those default fonts just aren't cutting it for you, or you want a little extra BlackBerry love in your device, hit the links below for all the information you will need on getting it done.
