T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 Now Available For Purchase!!!

T-Mobile 9700

Attention all T-Mobile users! The time has finally come... The first T-Mobile 3G BlackBerry is now available for purchase at T-Mobile.com. But wait... is it the 8900, or the 9700. Seems as if T-Mobile dropped the ball and used the wrong photo on the website. Big oops T-Mobile!

Pricing for the new BlackBerry Bold is very reasonable at $199.99 on the new Even More plan, or at $449.99 on the Even More Plus plan. For those wondering why the difference in pricing, here is the reason:

Two types of plans, two ways to save.

Even More Plans come with a 2 Year Contract and feature great phone discounts, so your upfront costs are lower.

Even More Plus Plans have no annual contract and currently provide our best monthly rate plan pricing. So you pay for your phone upfront, but the lower monthly plan costs save you money over time.

So there you have it, hurry up and go place your order. Drop us a note and let us know how the ordering goes. Hopefully T-Mobile won't have any problems fulfilling the orders. I have a feeling this will be a very hot selling device for T-Mobile.

Also be sure to check out CrackBerry's extensive reviews on the T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700.

BlackBerry Storm2 Dummy Unit Spotted at Best Buy!
Posted in From the Forums... on 21 Oct 2009 00:18 by David Boyd | 29 comments

Storm2

I'm sure there have been a few of you anxiously awaiting the release of the Storm2, or maybe even an official announcement from Verizon of it's existence. Well after browsing through the forums, it looks like user LazyDanes has found evidence that the Storm2 may be here soon.

While she was at a Best Buy store with her family, she went over to the cell phone area and found the Storm2 dummy unit on display and snapped this pic for us. Of course the salesperson did not have any info on the release date, but I'd say having dummy units arrive in stores is a good sign!

Come on Verizon, give us a release date already! Can you hear us now???

Sprint BlackBerry Tour 9630 Review
Posted in Device Reviews on 11 Aug 2009 09:54 by David Boyd | 56 comments

Sprint BlackBerry Tour Review

The new BlackBerry Tour smartphone launched on the Sprint Network last month, and it was a highly anticipated device for many Sprint users. Up until the launch of the Tour, the only options for BlackBerry smartphones for Sprint users were the Curve 8330, 8830 World Phone, and the Pearl 8130. While these are all great devices, none of them could compare to the BlackBerry Bold that was launched on GSM carriers almost a year ago.

Sprint had some initial launch issues with device shortages, and even a little mix up with a Sperizon device being sent out. Seems things to have simmered down a bit, and now it's time to get down to the nitty gritty with a device review. So sit back and relax, and let the good times begin.

Review: OtterBox Defender Series Case for the BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Curve 8900
Posted in BlackBerry Cases on 10 Jul 2009 13:24 by David Boyd | 24 comments

Bold and Curve Heavy Duty

I have tried just about every kind of case/holster out there to use on my Sam Browne, and have never found the perfect one until now. OtterBox Defender Series cases are rugged and can easily withstand the abuse of day to day use in Emergency Services.

The case is available for almost all current BlackBerry devices, and comes in either all black, or a black/yellow combination. Most of you are familiar with the OtterBox cases already, but in case you aren't, here is some info about them:

Review: Schlage LiNK Home Automation System
Posted in General Accessories on 24 Jun 2009 07:56 by David Boyd | 36 comments

Schlage Starter Kit

Schlage LiNK was introduced to us earlier this year at CES in Las Vegas . I have been using their first generation keypad for quite some time now, so naturally I was intrigued when I saw Schlage had a new hardware solution available that had features for use with my beloved BlackBerry.

Simply put, Schlage LiNK is the answer to every busy family's needs. The longer version of the story is that it's a secure, web-based system that allows you to monitor and control your Z-Wave enabled door locks, lights, Trane Remote Energy Management Thermostat, and even your Schlage camera from your Schlage LiNK web and mobile interface.

Schlage has been in the security business for over 85 years, and is the standard issue lock on many homes today. They have now taken security one step further and added technology to the mix, and created a home automation solution for the average consumer.

Sprint Tour

Double suhhhweeeet!!! Look who also launched their BlackBerry Tour website, guess they didn't want to be left out of the party. The two big CDMA carriers in the United States will be launching the much awaited BlackBerry Tour this summer!

The BlackBerry Tour will be available at Sprint stores, www.sprint.com and 1-800-Sprint1 later this summer for $199.99 with a new line of service or eligible upgrade, two-year service agreement and $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate. Additional savings may be available to business customers through their Sprint account manager.

As well as Sprint joining the party RIM themselves have set up their own BlackBerry Tour page which can be found at BlackBerry.com.

No job, no house, but I'm not giving up my BlackBerry!
Posted in CrackBerry Humor on 15 Jun 2009 08:30 by David Boyd | 186 comments

I had this forwarded to me as an email this weekend, and it was too funny not to share it (of course there's nothing funny about being jobless or homeless, but I'm sure all will see the irony in this piece). You can discuss this story in the forums...

Recently Michelle Obama went to serve food to the homeless at a government funded soup kitchen.

SoupKitchen

Cost of a bowl of soup at homeless shelter: $0.00 dollars

Having Michelle Obama serve you your soup: $0.00 dollars

Snapping a picture of a homeless person who is receiving a government funded meal
while taking a picture of the first lady using his $500 BlackBerry cell phone: Priceless

BlackBerry with No Contracts, No Commitments from T-Mobile
Posted in News & Rumors on 02 Jun 2009 08:58 by David Boyd | 17 comments

BB Pearl 2

I don't know how I missed this yesterday in the Best Buy ad, but apparently I did. It looks like T-Mobile is launching prepaid BlackBerry service in the US. Well not the entire US, to be more specific, New Jersey only right now.

Hopefully T-Mobile will have as good of price or better than what MetroPCS has offered to their customers. Details are sketchy, but if you live in New Jersey please post up some info in the comments about what you've heard about this.

** Update ** Getting some word in the comments that the above ad stating these are avilable in New Jersey only may not be accurate. Seems to be available in other states as well. Keep the comments coming with more info.

Coming Soon: BlackBerry Visor Mount Speakerphone VM-605
Posted in BlackBerry Accessories on 29 May 2009 08:19 by David Boyd | 9 comments

BB Visor Mount

We first got word of this new BlackBerry accessory back in January at CES in Las Vegas. At that time, it did not have an official name, and was simply being called a "bluetooth visor". Apparently the RIM marketing folks have been hard at work, and have now come up with the name of... Wait for it... Wait for it... Wait for it... BlackBerry Visor Mount Speakerphone VM-605. Whoa! Where's the creativity RIM, that was the best you could do???

All kidding aside with the name, this is will be nice addition to the BlackBerry lineup of accessories. It will feature hands-free calling, no installation of the device, up to 13 hours talk-time, and the best part yet, is supposed to be compatible with GPS mapping applications. No firm details on release date yet, however you can sign up on the BlackBerry website to be notified on its release, and keep your eyes posted to ShopCrackBerry.com for when it hits the store.

Review: PrimeTime2Go from QuickPlay Media
Posted in Software Reviews on 13 May 2009 07:56 by David Boyd | 47 comments

PrimeTime2Go Logo

"Watch your favorite shows anytime, anywhere on your mobile device." These very words are taken directly from the PrimeTime2Go website. We first heard about PrimeTime2Go last month when Kevin went to CTIA. He did a quick video review, and the very idea of having my favorite TV shows on my device intrigued me, however the service hadn't launched yet.

While attending WES last week, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that PrimeTime2Go has been launched on BlackBerry App World, and was now available for download on BlackBerry Bold and Curve 8900 devices. Luckily for me, I have one of each of those devices, and I was ready and willing to test out the app.

Leaked: OS 4.6.1.239 for the BlackBerry Curve 8900
Posted in BlackBerry OS on 08 May 2009 16:22 by David Boyd | 19 comments

8900 screenshot

What a week this has been for OS leaks! We had two earlier this week, and now here is the latest 4.6 leak to hit the web. I don't know how much more it has to offer from 4.6.1.231, but give it a try if you want to see for yourself. Check out the forum discussion if you are looking for some feedback before installing.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). Follow the links below for more information and instructions. *

Otterbox Defender Series Heavy Duty Belt Clip Now Available
Posted in BlackBerry Accessories on 27 Apr 2009 14:55 by David Boyd | 11 comments

OtterBox Heavy Duty Belt Clip

One of the most frequently asked questions in the forums from public safety workers is what kind of holster can they use on their utility belts for their prized BlackBerry. OtterBox has always been what I have suggested, but the down side was that it did not fit on the utility belts securely.

When I went to CES in January, I stopped by the OtterBox booth and spoke with them about this and they told me they were working on a solution that would be available soon. I'm happy to say OtterBox Defender series heavy duty belt clip have finally arrived to ShopCrackBerry.com! The heavy duty belt clip has been designed to work on utility belts up to 2.25" wide.

They are currently designed for the Bold, 8800, Pearl, 8350i, Curve and 8700 series. That pretty much covers any BlackBerry currently used today (no Storm version yet). As of right now, they are sold as a stand alone item for $14.95, so you must already own an OtterBox Defender Series case, or buy one in conjunction with the heavy duty holster. You can follow the links below for more information and to order. I'll have a full review coming soon.
