Still looking for a Twitter client for your BlackBerry PlayBook? If so, you'll want to check out the latest version of Blaq for PlayBook that is now appearing in BlackBerry App World. This release pushes Blaq into v1.7 and brings along a whole slew of changes with it.
What’s new?
- Portrait Mode - Auto-correct and spell check
- LED notifications: New Tweets – White, Mentions – Blue, DMs – Green, Followers - Yellow
- TweetMarker support – Never lose your spot again! TweetMarker bookmarks your position in any client supporting it (must be enabled in Advanced Options > Services)
- Toggle Real-time streaming – This has been a HUGE request. Granted. Tap the real-time indicator to toggle.
- Favorited tweets – Swipe from the top bezel then tap the star
- Dedicated help section to make it easier to learn the ins and outs
- Saved Searches – Easily tap the star in your search field to add a new saved search. Tap a saved search then untap the star to remove it. It’s that simple!
Along with all the changes implemented, there has been a ton of bugs squashed as well, all based off of user feedback. Blaq for PlayBook v1.7 is available now in BlackBery App World for only $1.99, be sure to check it out.

this is the essential twitter app for the playbook
westex#WP Feb 23, 2012 at 7:25 pm
actually it's pretty much the ONLY Twitter app for the Playbook. It is usable, and that's about it. Would kill for Tweetdeck, or Tweetcaster.
I appreciate Blaq and the Developers efforts, but IMHO, this is one of the biggest weaknesses of the Playbook. The lack of major Social apps.

I have/use Tweetcaster on my playbook. Sideload it.

There's also BlackBird. I prefer it to Blaq.

Thank you K.Labs and baselime.
I would like to request a add on to this app is the ability, when ever i click on a @example in web browser or twit from web browser it would be nice to open straight to Blaq.
Not my cup of tea the native Twitter on Playbook!

Sick!! Going to reinstall it and grab the update.
skynny70 Feb 23, 2012 at 4:53 pm
I am still seeing the older 1.6 version.
DJBS4LIFE Feb 23, 2012 at 4:58 pm
Yea me too, lol. I reinstalled it and I am waiting for the update.

I rebooted my Playbook and now downloading the update

Love this app. Support is great, too. I've tweeted @blaq on several occasions asking about shortcuts and how-to's and they've gotten back to me every time and usually within minutes. UI was already sharp with 1.6, can't wait to see what's new in this version.
Well worth the 2 bucks if you're a twat-a-lot.
How's this for a guarantee: If you don't like it, you can follow me on Twitter.

I had to Uninstall and Reinstall to get it, but I agree, this is what the Native Twitter app should be for Playbook!!

Excellent app, 1.7's use of the LED is perfect!

Can you finally go to your profile? I haven't been able to since I downloaded it, if anyone knows let me know!
jcarty Feb 23, 2012 at 6:36 pm
Swipe from top then tap the green dude.
luqman24 Feb 23, 2012 at 6:55 pm
Lol thanks! I feel like an idiot for not figuring that out.
PoJoTheCrooked Feb 23, 2012 at 6:39 pm
Haven't tried blaq. Anyone know about TweetBook? Is it better than blaq or not?
jcarty Feb 23, 2012 at 6:57 pm
Check the changelog, feature list and price then compare :). It's up to you.

Had long believed TweetBook provided the best twitter experience on PlayBook, however Blaq changed that. TweetBook's major deterrent is the price. The UI looks dated and is buggy, and notifications didn't work (Hasnt been updated for 2.0 yet)...
Will stick with Blaq until an official Twitter app is released. They also provide support if you tweet them with questions...Wish I bought Blaq before TweetBook, and spent the $3 difference on another app.

The price for Blaq and what the app does is unreal. Great quality for the money and the developers are behind the app 100%. I have used both and enjoy Blaq out of all my twitter apps.
MidnightSociety Feb 23, 2012 at 9:58 pm
I wasted money on TweetBook and other USELESS Twitter apps for PlayBook. Blaq.... This is a great Twitter app. Its a must have for PlayBook Tweeters in my opinion.
BBOttawa Feb 23, 2012 at 10:21 pm
Another happy Blaq user here, for $2 it's definitely worth it, I use it all day everyday so don't suffer with a bad app, just get it! And the continued updates and support are awesome.
knightfall Feb 24, 2012 at 12:22 am
I danced when portrait support arrived. But I have a bug where I click on the search and it kicks me out of portrait and into landscape. Its weird.
LEDs are awesome. I love the new colors.
JunkieXP Feb 24, 2012 at 4:00 am
Just bought Blaq as of V1.7 but I won't get any LED when I've an Incoming @Reply. Not when my device is just standing there, nor when Blaq is Activated.
LED is working on Native Facebook for Example.

Why do these people complain when they don't see the update? Are they that stupid that they don't know it is up to their carrier when the update is posted.
Roscopcoletrain Feb 24, 2012 at 11:18 am
Tell me which carrier you have your Playbook with? I'd be careful calling others stupid.

Hahaha, yes!

Still sluggish and lacking in usability. We don't need that much gradient in an app...
