Blaq for BlackBerry 10 updated to version 1.1

Blaq has taken over the Twitter game for BlackBerry 10 and the latest update makes sure to keep it that way. Blaq is a full-featured Twitter client that has been a big hit for BlackBerry users. The folks at Kisai Labs have been hard at work taking in loads of feedback from users and now version 1.1 has been released with plenty of updates and fixes.

In addition to Z10/Q10/Q5 support, Blaq now allows for profile editing, keyboard shortcuts, list management, faster start time and much more. 

Updates include:

  • BeBuzz integration
  • Report Spam
  • Block/Unblock
  • Translate tweet (Tweet options)
  • Scroll-loading of friends and followers
  • Scroll-loading tweets
  • Save search
  • Delete saved search (hold down on one in search screen)
  • Search @mentions on profile
  • List management – Add, edit or delete a list. Add and remove users from lists
  • Change trend location
  • Edit profile
  • Edit avatar

It doesn't work on my blackberry Z10. I've already reseted my Z10 twice and deleted and reinstalled Blaq. The update killed the App

Same here! My app won't load at all. It bounces back. I am still on 10.0 as well.

Same here I'm on Verizon 10.0.9.422 - updating blaq today killed it. Did a restart and a battery pull. No luck! :(

What OS are you on? I am still on 10.0 so that could be the reason. Regardless it just doesn't work and keeps crashing when I try to open it.

I have not used Blaq before on the Z10. Does it allow you to adjust the font size?

Yes, you can set the font size, not a specific point but from Tiny (which is tiny) to Large (which is huge) and between.

Just updated and it's crashing. Not opening at all I am still on 10.0 on att. I have a feeling that this update is more geared to the 10.1 release and beyond. Hopefully they release a update for users on 10.0 still.

Working fine on T-Mobile 10.1.0.2342 That's a big list of improvements and fixes for a Dot release.

App downloaded and installed just fine for me. Try uninstalling and install again. The Devs are great! could be a little busy at the moment. Give them a little time to respond.

Yeah I tried rebooting a couple of times, even pulled the battery. Deleted and reinstalled and still nothing. Just gonna sit tight and wait for another update :/

Aside from not having FB integration (if you care about that) I find Blaq better across the board. The developer is responsive and I'm confident that any minor issues will be addressed in future updates. I'm as frugal as they come, but don't regret dropping $3 on Blaq.

Imagine my hero. Upgraded it then started reading all the comments here bout the app not working after upgrade! Whew. It works just fine for me. Great improvements. Still needs more for over users like me. Anyway I'm on Telus running 10.1 and all is well so far. Blaq h's a wy to go to make me not miss the native app on my bold9900 but they've also come a long way. But I do dislike developers who think they know all the issues and improvements. Remember I did mention I'm a power user so yeah i know more :). Great work guys keep it up.

Opens up after upgrade. Only issue says it can't connect to BBM. Changed permissions and it still appears. Works besides that. I think the version. Number doesn't update after upgrade?

I figured it's a 10.0 issue. I'm glad the developers have come out and said a fix is in the works. I'll have some patience with them since BB10 is still new and the devs are still learning that there are some things that won't work on 10.0 that do work on 10.1.

Blaq is a great app. IMO. I'm anxiously awaiting the 10.0 fix.

For AT&T what the use of selling us Z10 and Q10 if there is no Upgrade and Update also not enough apps to download. I learn my lesson of this sales associate giving customer false detail of BlackBerry products. I will wait for the new iPhone 5S to purchase.

Yeah go purchase the new iPhone 5s. And it's lame browser that doesn't hold a penny to the wonderful and powerful browser from BlackBerry. Don't believe me? The go check out the in dependant test sites for browser strength. Ringmark and the html5 tests have shown BlackBerry has the strongest browser out there by miles. Not to mention the fact that the entire OS is much more powerful in the OS10 over iOS6 and upcoming iOS7. Please enjoy. Thanks.

Installed fine on this 10.1 handset.

I would actually pay 10x what I did for it. I tried Neatly after a recommendation on here and did not really get on with it. Blaq though I clicked with straight away!

I would love to see just one more account slot opened though - that is just me managing someone's Twitter account for them though.

I love the update. However the one thing I would change is to reverse the space bar so it scrolls up. As Blaq remembers your last position I awlays scroll up to read posts. It much more intuitive to scroll up using the space bar rather than shift-space.

The issue really doesn't have to go around what Software release u have for your BlackBerry as if it were then they should have pointed it out before they give an option to download, which they didn't.

I'm running the Software that came out with my Z10. Purchased Blaq and it was faulty then Upgraded and it doesn't want to open at all. Even deleted and reloaded but it still doesn't want to open. Sent 2 emails to Blaq already and got no reply from them.

I like Twitter and word has it Blaq is the best App. So I'm really upset.

Love the upgrade. Pretty much fixed the major issues I had with the old version. Things like bein able to check mentions, deleting saved searches, scrolling down followers list to the bottom and not just the first 6 or so, and especially the RT options. Great job!

Yeah, same here. The devs said there was already a fix in AppWorld, but I haven't seen it yet. Getting a little frustrated since they said the fix was already out. I'll try to be a little more patient, but it's tough.

Looking at the posts it seems it might be people who haven't got the latest OS update that are having probs. I downloaded it and it's working well. Love the bar that stops at the old tweets....so I can see which ones I haven't seen. But if you don't like that just tap on the right of the green bar at the top to get to newest tweet :) There are options for RT too, and if that is at all confusing you can go into the settings and set to RT as normal every time. Some good improvements on it...well done guys :)

I think I know why it still crashes after the latest update. The new update said version 1.1.0.4001 when I installed it a moment ago. But when no went back to check it still said version 1.1.0.4000 was installed. I uninstalled Blaq so that I can install the latest one but now it only shows up as version 1.1.0.4000 in BlackBerry World :/.

That's exactly it. I spotted that earlier and let jcarty know. Would be so much easier if carriers would just give us 10.1, that way all devices on market have the same official release. Sideloads excluded of course.

BlackBerry World didn't like how Kisai labeled something so they didn't let .4001 be released. Did they change "Tweet" to offensive words or pictures!? What could have changed so dramatically from .400 to .4001 to make BBWorld reject it?

Still no new upgrade version in BBWorld yet......still only shows .4000 for me......

Deleted the upgraded app, did another search in BBWorld, showed new .4001 version, downloaded, still won't open......

Yeah, I did the same thing. Uninstalled .4000, saw the new .4001 in App World, downloaded it and it still won't open.

I'm to the point where I'm not going to deal with it until the 10.1 update comes out. It doesn’t seem to be a problem with that version.

I'm not going to give up on Blaq because it's such a good app. I just wish VZW could update a lot faster than they do. But I came from Sprint and they pretty much did the same thing when it came to updates. I guess the US carriers are just really slow when it comes to updates. Such a shame.

If you're like me and accidentally downloaded .4001 on 10.0 and have been continuously checking BBW for .4005 (with no luck), go to http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/26733874/ (which strangely shows the version as .4006). Scan the barcode and voila. Back to Blaq. Whew.

Blaq may be cool but functionally disappointing! If you are going to build something at least build on what the standard is. Why do I have to sideload an Android App to get a Twitter App that has necessary features?...Even with BB 7 you could have more than 2 twitter accounts. Hey, I still love BlackBerry!
