The BlackBerry Z30 launches in India

I hate this scattered rollout. Look at how apple does it. New IPad Air is available in more than 50 countries (including China) just a week after announcement. This gives them the most potential out if the buzz and to maximize sales.

Instead Blackberry not only announces Z30 a few days before they release horrible results. They also kill any momentum by scattering the rollout of the phone.

Apple has a much larger production capacity than BlackBerry. If the did a global launch than their stronger markets would be left waiting

Posted via CB10

of course all the handsets they sell would be in people hands instead of sitting in warehouses waiting to be written off..lol

The price is high... although lower than I paid for my z10 :)

I agree. It is so disappointing. I spent INR 44,000 for my Z10 and now here is the Z30 at sub-40,000 and the Z10 has become an entry level device. Just think about the irony.

The price is just right, well below the G4 and iPhone 5. Good move BBRY, they have an opportunity to sell many Z30's now.

With their current market condition, it wouldn't hurt for them lower their expectations by another 5k to 7k for their flagship. Not sure if it hurts their wallets drastically. I think it will only help in gaining traction and eventually lead to increased adoption which might make the app scene better and they could perhaps in an year or 2 return to demanding on par with the competitors.

I got my Z10 on first day at Rs. 43,490. Early adopter and have to pay the price. Now with Z30 they are trying to get their pricing right. I appreciate it. And by the way no regrets for me.

Varun u seem to be an apologist for BlackBerry. They screwed up and fucked their customers. That's all I said. U maybe fine with getting screwed but I'm not and in sure that there are many others like me. I may have been a first adopter but to suggest that the price of first adoption is to take a 50% haircut in less than 9 months time, suggests a naivete unprecedented or plain stupidity. I'm hoping it's the former than the latter.

You should know that when a new device comes out it is always more expensive. Grow up. And if any company screws their customers it's Apple. High priced multiple gadgets on a yearly basis for basically the same phone. Even the z10 continues to get support and updates. 10.2 is great and more is coming. You never got screwed. You bought a top device at the release of a new OS. No one made you!

Trolls should be forced to use BB10!

At least apple products retain their value and that's my point. If u don't under what my point is, u need not comment. Its not about it being expensive. Its about the drop in value and in so short a time. If u don't see how customers have been screwed u r an idiot. In India there are no subsidized phones. U pay full price. I got ripped off. No one forced me but I bought it being loyal to blackberry and thinking that I wanted the company to make it. Now I just want the company to fail and I want to dance on its ashes. That's how pissed off I am.

Well South Africa is reportedly only going to be towards the end of the year. Lucky everybody else (except the US hehe).

Mmm...CB10! Just the tip, though!

Finally BB starting price of Rs. 39,990 is good for this model where Z10 was launched at very high price (launched at Rs. 44450/- and now it is Rs. 27500). Hope this pricing will give some good sales for BB.

I wonder how long before they start offering the Z30 at 20,000 Rs. I'll pick it up them. Looking at the track record with the Z10 I stand a good chance.

So was this the big news peeps were taking about happening on the 24th?

Posted from my Z10 (very smart phone)

There are about 6 or 7 different variants but the only significant change is the STA100-3 which is the one destined for the US with QI wireless charging and the STA100-9 which is for China and some other parts of Eastern Asia. :)

Mmm...CB10! Just the tip, though!

How much is Rs. 39,990 (MRP) anyway?
EDIT: Google says it's something like 471 euro. Without the all the mystery surrounding BlackBerry's future, this is quite a fair price.

I don't understand the pricing at all.
Z10 was 44,000, q10 was 44,000, q5 was 25,000 and z30 is 40,000 approx.

I am happy they realised the disaster pricing strategy but what about us who bought z10 at that price ? Is there any z40 with higher specs coming at 30,000.

Posted via CB10

Because they finally realized that the Z10 and Q10 were in fact over priced, hence the slower then expected sales. They won't make the same mistake with the Z30, and funny because the Z30 is superior too.

HAHAHAH YAY!!

Just sold my Z10 to buy the Z30
Damn! The beast will be in my pocket in a week!!!!

BB ALL THE WAY GUYS!!

The least BlackBerry could do for the early adopters who supported them at BB10 launch is provide some sort of loyalty bonus or effective trade up offer from Z10 to the Z30.

OBVIOUSLY BlackBerry isn't doing so well these days so they lowered the price of their new phones. Why is that so hard to understand?

Sent from my BlackBerry - remember me!

Yeh Toh dingana news hai! Wooohooo! So tempted to buy this phone !

Posted from my awesome Q5. Planning to add more awesomeness ({})

Posted via CB10

Woww, was waiting for Z10 price to reduce to make a switch from Bold 3 but now will take Z30 instead! Hopefully it comes to stores in a week. Can't wait to get my hands on 'em. Way to go BB with your better pricing strategy :)

It's a better and more practical pricing but there is some mad competition in India. Use to be a stronghold for BlackBerry few years back. Mostly all I see is legacy devices here if any blackberry. They need to get more out here in their hands

Posted via CB10

If they reduce way too much also it means "Oh wait they will drop the prices of Z30 drastically sooner or later we will buy it then" your getting ur image all screwed up. Get ur pricing & marketing bang on instead

Posted via CB10

Someone earlier in this thread said Z10 is now around the 20k+ range?

Posted via CB10

None of the BB10 smartphones sold in India support 4G networks (Q5, Q10, Z10).

Hope Z30 will support 4G.

Am glad Z30 is priced aggressively like Q5 and Z10. Remember, in this market, K900 is priced at just INR 25,000 !

If by 4G you mean LTE, then no. The Z30 doesn't support Airtel's LTE band either. AFAIK, amongst global manufacturers' flagship models, only the iPhone has that band.

The Q5 model sold in India is SQR100-3 - not support 4G (so priced low)
The Z10 model sold in India is STL-100-1 - not support 4G (so priced low)

The Q10 model sold in India is SQN100-3 - supports 4G (so priced high)

Well, none of them support LTE in India, so for the local market, I don't see how a pattern can be established from this spec. How can they justify the higher price there by saying "but it has LTE!" when it's of no use to you domestically?

My brother dont need to import anythin
its got LTE, ur not bein shortchanged this time and neither am I.
Will be buying ASAP

check out the specs at in.blackberry.com

Do you travel alot?
coz LTE is still not available in India,

I on the other hand will be Heading to CANADA In 2014 for my Flying Lessons :D
So will likely use 4G Hehe

Thanks BB for not leaving India Behind this time on LTE

All models of the Z30 have LTE, yes. But not the frequency that's used in India (by Airtel.) So to you all, it's just as good as not having it there, because you won't get to use it unless you're traveling.

Raino see my comment above yours :)
Although Airtel hasn't launched it for Mobile Handsets
It's only for Dongles.

I used LTE on my Q10 when I visited India last month. My model's an unlocked SQN100-2 -- it was pretty impressive!

That's interesting. Because all the LTE bands in the Q10 are FDD, while Airtel--which is the only network with an LTE network right now--uses TDD LTE.

Yep, on Airtel, in Kolkata. Maybe, maybe because it's unlocked that it made the difference. It's a Verizon branded phone (and hence the SQN100-2 model running on OS version 10.1.0.4699) but I've used it in other networks since I've had it unlocked... :-)

Should have kept it 35k,considering z10 is selling for 26k retail and 20.5k on ebay.Let me see how i can sell my q10 and get this curvy beauty

Good one for all of us in India, Z30 should gain some traction for sure, also this time they should make sure that they have a good marketing plan for Indian as still people are unaware of what beauty this OS has to offer

Posted via CB10

Get it boys, no regrets using the Z30 so far, the price is right for the premium materials used

Posted via CB10

This Price is very FAIR!
At least for us Europeans.

= 470 Euro
= 650 USD
= 680 CAD
= 400 GBP
= 4130 SEK
= 3.2 XBT (Bitcoins)

39900/- is also big amount in India. By looking at my Z10 experience (I bought it for 43490/- now it cost 26000/-) I should wait for 4 5 months for z30. I hope that should be wise decision.

Posted via CB10

Wow!! Finally they getting their prices right. Great to see that finally they are correcting their mistakes and doing what they should have done before. I hope that this price attracts many people to buy z30. Now all we need is extensive marketing.

Much improved pricing strategy this time. If they had followed this for the initial launch, they might have had more success. They can still salvage the sales by being more innovative - like trade in programs which will be the best way to retain the loyal user base.

For reference, it is cheaper than the official launch price of iPhone 5C and roughly the same as the Samsung Galaxy S4.
I hope they release a new QWERTY device as well - that will be yum.

This pricing is right. Even Z10 new price is perfect I guess. The prices of all companies keeps on dropping according to the new introductions. Samsung India cuts prices like hell these days. Good to see BlackBerry is correcting their pricing strategy in cost sensitive markets like India.

I bought my Z10 at new price and I'm very happy with it.

Hope to see more BB10's around now. :)

When z10 finally released in malaysia, the price is around rm2000±. With z30 being launched at rm1900+, the z10price dropped to around rm1300+. So z10 right now is a more entry level blackberry phone.

I paid Rs 43000 for the Z10 when it was initially launched and now Z30 comes in at Rs 39990..

Overall I guess BlackBerry have got their pricing spot on this time around.

Posted via CB10

Good for India. Hopefully, it will do well. It looks like BlackBerry is prioritizing the roll-out where they think the phone will sell best, thus US later. Not good for me, but I understand their decision.

@dunaway - Posted with TMO Q10 via CB10

BlackBerry socks! I paid so much or the device and now they are selling it for such a cheap price in India. Go to hell black berry.

Posted via CB10

For those who are complaining about the start price of the z10. I just will said I'm from Panama living in China, I bought my z10 in HongKong in the first day of arrival for almost 800 USD. I'm in the trade business I know ii just wait a little longer anything will be down so if I want and can pay for something more expensive is my own business

Posted via CB10

They complained in India with Z10 price - now they are complaining about Z30 price.... you get a sense some there just like to "complain"...

We would gladly take the Z30s going to India and have them shipped to the U.S.A..... no complaining here...

But "what the hell'...."Winter Launch in U.S.A.".... brutal...

I think there is more complaining in India regarding the major price-cut

Posted from my Z10 running 10.2.0.1743

The price is right for Z30. However, Rs. 35,000/- will attract more people. I'm pretty sure the price will drop in a month or so. Good move though BBY and 10.2 update is awesome and 10.2.1 is going to be super awesome.

I bought my Z10 at full price within days of the launch of the phone.. I felt it was overpriced then nevertheless bought it and there has been no regrets.. I love the phone, I make use of it every single moment of the day.. and it gets my work done just fine..

But just a thought came up now in my head on how about I had waited 3-4 more months, I would have bought a Z30.. anyway, not jumping the ship from my Z10.. but hope Z30 sells lots of pieces..
