The BlackBerry Z3 is just $229.99 today only on Expansys

blackberry z3

The Expansys USA web site has listed the unlocked BlackBerry Z3 as its "Deal of the Day" and is currently selling the BlackBerry 10-based smartphone for just $229.99.

While the phone is becoming more widely available in other parts of the world, most notably in Asian territories, the BlackBerry Z3 isn't as accessible in the US, so this deal represents a rare chance to get the phone for a cheaper no-contract price.

Canada hasn't been left out of this special pricing plan, The Expansys website in that country is also selling the BlackBerry Z3 as its own "Deal of the Day". You can get the smartphone from that website for $246.87 in Canadian dollars. Since both of these price reductions will disappear at the end of the day today, you might want to move quickly in order to secure one for yourself.

What do you think of this quick sale for the BlackBerry Z3? Just remember, there's no LTE on these versions.

Thanks to Andrea for the tip

304 in Canadian with out LTE support! Z10 any day with a spare battery will kill this

Not a bad price. I just can't justify buying it when my z10 has a better spec sheet. The size doesn't appeal to me if the screens resolution is so low.

Via My z10 and CB10

I beg to differ. If you can't see the difference between a 220ppi screen and a 355ppi screen. I don't think your eyes work well at all. That's over 60% higher resolution.

Via My z10 and CB10

I can see the difference between the screen of a Z10 and a Z30. The Z3 needs a screen upgrade.

Posted via CB10

Not sure if that was sarcasm but thats the onky thing the z10 has on the z30

Posted via CB10

Remember the Z30 was released by THOR. It should have had better spec's but never happened. Yet it sold for quite the premium.
Anyhow it ended up being the best smart phone in the industry. And for good reason. Just don't understand the reasoning behind the screen? It should have had a higher specs versus the Z10. Despite it being a Super Amoled screen.

The Z50 will be Chen's baby, the device that will pull gain new customers. Until then, Passport is the new player.

Posted on my Q5

Best smartphone in the industry? That's quite a stretch. Maybe the best bb10 phone but there really isn't too much difference between a z10 and a z30. There are plenty of alternatives that give a superior experience then the z30

Posted via the Android CrackBerry App!

I much prefer the Z30 screen to the Z10 the font on Z10 is grudgy when i look at stocks / list of stocks in that app also a lot of time the extra estate comes in handy.

Good point. Z10 has a sharp screen, to me that means characters can be very small yet be outstandingly readable.

Just bought a 32" TV for my bedroom at 720p. 90% of the 32".sets have those specs as the experts claim you don't really get much benefit of going 1080p at that size.

To my point, unless you have bionic eyes, the z3's resolution is more than enough.

Posted via CB10

You also don't hold the 32 inch tv 18 inches from your eyes.. try it and look at all those pixels

Via My z10 and CB10

I think the resolution on the Z3 is adequate but that's just my opinion. Pretty good deal regardless

Posted via CB10

It's a $200+ phone hard to complain about resolution at the price. This was an issue I had with BlackBerry getting in the low cost phone market. Too many people don't take in account what they paid. It's like when people buy a cheap ass car and complain that it doesn't handle like a higher end vehicle.

Posted via CB10

Low cost doesn't have to mean low quality, there's phones on the market right now that are $100 that aren't bad. Blackberry needs to do more of this, they need to become price competitive with their competition.

Fully agree, the Z3 screen is just fine. And should be priced based on the devices specs.

The issue is PEOPLE. They now look at specs to make device decisions. Regardless of OS, excluding the Church of Apple, where iPhone fanboyz continue to buy under spec'ed iPhones for a premium. Lol

Posted on my Q5

Right. The lack of RAM and LTE should probably be deal-breakers for first world users, but the Z3 is a damn good phone for Indonesia / India and, really, a lot of more developed countries that don't have carriers subsidizing hardware with awesome hires screens and such like they do in the US and Canada.

Posted via CB10

I don't think it has LTE, NFC, or a gyroscope sensor...

Posted without the aid of AutoCorrect with my physical keyboard via CB10

It's not a bad phone and reaction is good I just tested this phone in jakarta for a hour comparing it wit the Z30.

It's in dutch but google translate will help.

Posted via CB10

The battery size appeals but lack of LTE is a no-go for me since I use mobile hotspot frequently.

Some stores over here are selling it for approx. $300. Just about the same with the Z10 and Q5

BlackBerry z30 OS10.3.0.700

It hasn't been officially released in NA or Europe for that matter so I would guess they got a few from an Asian supplier. I don't believe Foxconn circumvent the process prior to an official release. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems bizarre.

Posted via CB10

I thought it was going to be under $200 dollars. Now it's $250 and they consider it a "deal'? am I missing something?

Considering it isn't released in North America yet and was likely imported...... seems fair. I'm sure that come time it's officially released in North America that the price will be lower

Posted via CB10

I hope so because you can call me cheap but I can't pay for something at a higher price than what the manufacturer is stating should be the price.

It's around $200 in developing countries but I doubt once they sell it in higher income countries and add LTE that it will sell for much less than $300

Posted via CB10

And being unlocked adds to the cost/value as well. Most providers charge a premium to unlock phones these days.

Posted via CB10

I think these guys got them from Asia and not from Foxconn directly so they got them for 200 and just marking them up a bit.

they are selling like "hotcakes" and the price increase is justified

Posted via CB10

I don't think they're selling like hotcakes, because if they were, why not sell them at a premium in Asia, where there is a stronger market for it.

As far as Foxconn, I wouldn't be surprised if they saw initial demand slip and are selling some inventory to outside distributors to keep inventory low. It's neither a good or bad sign, but interesting.

Nah, just redirect them to markets they haven't been released yet. South Africa, Nigeria, Hong Kong, middle East

Posted via CB10

Well this is not BlackBerry selling it this company bought it in Asia and shipped it to the usa and is trying to make a profit off of it

Loving my black Q10 and white Z10 and ordered the white Z30

You guys are complaining about the price when it isn't even officially released in NA. These are unlocked devices taken from Asia and sold in NA. You don't think the people who did that will get some profit?

Posted via CB10

You do see the difference in screen res between the Z10 and Z3. I use a Z10 and bought some Z3 for my office. Though the Z3 looks more relevant / new and todays phone over the Z10.

Posted via CB10

Not gonna lie. It really does look newer and flashier than my Z10. If only it had a bit better specs I'd buy.

Posted via CB10

No, that model hasn't even been produced yet.

Anyone know which Canadian and American carriers it will work with? Any chance this info can be added to the main story?

Posted via CB10

Rogers, Telus, Bell, AT&T: 3G and/or HSPA+ everywhere. T-Mobile: 3G/HSPA+ only in UMTS 1900 (i.e. refarmed) areas. Wind Mobile: not compatible.

Huh? Never heard of Verizon Canada before. If they're CDMA, then no. If they're AWS (1700 MHz,) that's a no as well. If they are UMTS 1900, then yes.

Correcting my own post here.

Rogers, Telus, Bell, AT&T: 3G and/or HSPA+ only in UMTS 1900 areas. This phone does not have the UMTS 850 band.

Telstra uses UMTS 850? Interesting. I wasn't aware of too many carriers using this band outside the Americas. Is this band for primary coverage in places or does it supplement 2100 MHz?

Edit: looks like there are more: a couple of Israeli carriers, Vodafone AU, Telecom NZ, and a few Asian carriers.

I'd rater wait for an LTE version to be released in Canada. I think they are going to release one anyways. Until then, I'll wait and see, I'm pretty happy with my Z10. As for the people wanting the Z3 or to try the Z3, now is your chance!

Before the Z10 was released in the US, there were a few importers selling it for $700-800+, so seeing a phone that is supposed to retail for under $200 priced at above that in markets where the Z3 has yet to be release is not surprising.

BlackBerry is still running their sale on the white versions of their BB10 devices, so you can buy a white Z10 for $199. So unless you just want a Z3 because they aren't officially available in North America yet or don't like white phones, why not opt for that deal and use to savings to buy a cover.

Is it just me, or has the talk/news about the LTE version of this phone died down in all the news/excitement re: the Passport?

Price of a nice dinner, tommorow it's going to be, can I say, down the toilet? Anyway nice to give to someone, maybe your son or daughter? I hope I get home and remember about this. I bought my first sticker last week and next Stop Z 3 . I'm now thinking about giving this to my parents

Posted via CB10

I might have to pick one up to add to my collection...maybe make it a backup to my wife's Z30.

Posted via CB10 using my Z30.

I think BlackBerry prices are unrealistic and over priced for phones that are clearly out matched by their competition. BlackBerry needs to make these adjustments asap! $229 for a Z3 or even a 9900 Bold is crazy. Especially when you can get an S4/S5/iphones and other similar devices for $199 or less and sometimes even free. People are buying cheap to spare their wallet/purse. Folks will get what they can afford for the most part. We don't need to get are BlackBerry's for free but treat us well and we will buy the product. Blackberry needs to offer incentives to customers and stop spending it on Formula One teams.

Posted via CB10

Here in the US, getting a phone for $199 or even free is the carrier subsidies price, which locks you into a new 2 year contract. Purchasing a decent phone unlocked, off contract is typically over $400.

If the Z3 was being sold carrier subsidized, it would be free.

Posted via CB10 using my Z30.

Who ever buys a phone for 200$ or more and it doesn't have lte is stupid (unless you're in a country without wide lte)

You don't get it. This is a carrier unlocked phone. This is full price. That phone you get for 200 with LTE is actually worth 600-800 and when you sign your new contract you get it free or cheap. - C00012735/ Mike Garson Photography - C00471EA8

Can someone remind me of the Z3 comes with miracast, USB OTG, & FM radio? I don't remember.

I suspect that it won't have all of these, if it even has any, but want to know before pulling the trigger.

Posted via CB10 using my Z30.

My first impression about the blackberry passport was that the device was so ugly but now I'm really thinking about moving from my Z10 to the passport as soon it is available, so not Z3 at the moment.

Posted via CB10

This is a budget phone folks.....if you want a higher resolution device stick to the higher end BB devices.

Posted via CB10

Indeed! And with only 8GB internal memory on board that still shared with BB10 OS, I wonder how many premium apps and games you can install (considering also the point that there is no option to transfer those apps and games to external memory card).

Posted via CB10

I'm with most of the group, which is to say that the lack of LTE is a bit of a showstopper, and the reduced screen resolution another. I also just don't need another touch screen BB, seeing as I have a Z10 that I'm using, another in an unopened box as a spare, since both are unlocked from BlackBerry's fire sale last year and the T-Mobile "loyalty" sale done after the Tmo divorce.

But the consensus here also suggests that the Z3 may not get much traction in North America, LTE or not. It's just not as good a device as other BBs, and BlackBerry is wise not to even sell it here.

Posted via CB10

They need to sell the Z3 in North America and the UK for at least $150 to $190 MAX. It would sell very well.

Posted on my Q5

Not for $190 in the US when the Z10 costs $200. Some people may buy it even at $250, but for the right price we are talking about $150.

The moto G is crap and isn't even the league of the Z3. Well maybe if you want a dinky screen, a low end processor and more than the usual glitchyness for a standard Android, then moto G is for you. Everyone has their preferences.

The only thing the z3 has going in their favor over the moto g is the screen size and I guess you could even say the os. The os which has failed to catch attention.

Posted via CB10

The Moto G has been universally pan as a cheap half baked product. Sorry but no competition with the Z3. As to the OS, why buy the Moto G and have it crash multiple times a day when you can run Android Apps on the Z3. Well one man's garbage is another man's treasure. Good luck with your rebooting

Posted via CB10

I'm sorry, but every word you've just written is bull$hit

Posted via the Android CrackBerry App!

Wifey's got the 16GB Moto G version, no such behavior. If you used one, you got a dud. Get it checked.

Remember, Moto G has Dual-SIM going for it, one of the main reasons I bought it for her. And the expectation to put Ubuntu on it, just like my Nexus 4.

Pasted via CB chen

Z3 vs. Z10, I would stick to my Z10 and wait for the Z3LTE. And even then maybe get a Z3 for work just because of the battery life.

Black Carbon Fiber Skinned Z10

My wife has the Z30. I just got the Z3 last week (as my temp handset while I wait for the Passport - retired the Q10). There is a screen resolution difference and you can see it when putting it next to each other but if you don't... a bit slower than the Z30 and no HDMI output but other than, great handset. The "BlackBerry 10" Experience is not less. If you can get one for a good price, go for it!

Demobigen (Powered by Blackberry® Z3)

I just got a white unlocked Z10 for $199. Isn't that a better deal? I paid that much for my Q10 a year ago on contract.

Posted on my Q10

Why wouldn't you spend the extra $70 and get the Z10????? Was better specs and build quality

Posted via CB10

Why would anyone buy a 4" Z10 with older microprocessor, poorer battery rating & slower GPU than the 5" Z3 for same price ?

I thought the big deal with the Z3 was that it was going to be a sub $200 phone upon release, at price?

Posted via CB10

This is not a release price. It's an import price. The Z3 has not been released in North America yet

Just bought one for mum and one for dad. They won't need 4G, plus I can BBM them and screen share when they need to be shown how to do something from miles away

Posted via CB10 on my Z30

Anyway it looks like most people don't want this deal but remember how much you love a deal, buy it and when you get enough money to buy a Z30, enjoy!

Posted via CB10

In Canada. You can buy off contract 199 q10 from rogers, a 199 Telus z10 from future shop and a 150 q5 from kudo. Why would we need a z3?

Posted via CB10

I have a personal z10 and a work z10. I'd be tempted on this deal if I was in the market for a new phone. But I'm also waiting for the passport as it's truly unique. So no I won't be going for it. Would recommend it to others though.

Posted via CB10

No LTE, for starters. 3G and "4G" (the non-LTE kind) will only work in those refarmed UMTS 1900 areas.

I still think Z10 is the best valued phone. With everything it has and for less than $200 equivalent here in Nigeria, no one can convince me otherwise. But again that's just my opinion

Posted via CB10

Nah. Glad it's out but why down grade from my Awsome flicking z-30. Can't wait to fool around with the passport.

Posted via CB10

Passport for me. If I were to buy it would be for a gift for children or siblings so that they could have the entire bbm experience. They are on other platforms so we can't share screens or have video chats.

Lol "only $229"
BlackBerrys low end market solution.
Sorry these specs and price point are just not competitive. Shame, another chance wasted

Posted via CB10

Name me 3 devices offered unlocked in North America that are cheaper and have better specs than this. Moto G (debatable), and...?

Posted via CB10

I believe the Limit 635 is in the similar price range.

Regardless, for the last time, this is NOT BlackBerry's price for the phone. It's what an importer is charging of people willing to pay for a somewhat unique device in this part of the world.

It is UNFAIR and CEO Chen is a BIG mofo!
Sell your shit when you promised was completely different.
Apple and IBM will put you DOWN !
BlackBerry is f*cking s*hit!
Go sell your sh*t and get lost!

Posted via CB10

At the conversion rate here the phone is the same price as what a Z10 and Q5 now go for. Still well above android low end phones.

Posted via CrackBerry App

This is not an official release, they imported these at a premium. This also isn't the north American version which will have better specs.

Z3 should go for 150$...
But what do I know.. the Z10 pricing did also work for BlackBerry.

No Signature today...

Just cannot believe no LTE....but a five incher under $250 unlocked...and from a reputable company? I mean, we not talking about Vizio or Magnavox here...this is a REAL device.... so what the heck are yall talking about? Great deal!!

Posted via CB10

I still see it. Just go into details.

Tempting but I think I would get a Z30 if I were to upgrade my Z10 today.

Will wait for a higher end 5".

Posted via CB10

The Z3 is a device built for SEA market not NA. I would never buy one and why would I when the Z10 sells for the same price with better specs. And don't kid yourself the lower ppi is noticeable. If you have ever used a kindle ereader it's about the same. It's do-able but not preferred. Larger displays can get away with a lower ppi because you tend to hold them further away from you. Like the Z30 is right on the edge of apples golden number for retina but since it is a larger display than the ppi can arguable be lower for it to still be retnia. So the Z30 can still get away it's almost 300 ppi display. But I don't think the Z3 can. I actually doubt the Z3 will officially be released in NA because no one is going to buy it.

I was in Indonesia when Z3 was launched and bought one for $190 . I have been using Z10 since April 2013 when it was launched in the UK and paid a ' heavy price ' for it as since then the price of Z10 is now less than half what I paid for it. Compared to Z10 : 1. The screen is larger though less resolution( compared to Z10 ), you will notice it if you are used to using Z10 though in my opinion it is good enough. 2.Battery life is very good , I only need to charge it once every two days ( Z10 sometimes lasts less than a day and I need to have a spare battery ).3. Has FM Radio. 4. If you often have to change Sim card it is easier as you don't need to open the back, it is at the side.
There are disadvantages of course (lower screen resolution, no LTE does not bother me as I use it in the UK where LTE is patchy, non removable battery though surprisingly you can open the back, no HDMI and NFC don't bother me ). The hardware is of good quality and the price I feel is reasonable. Z30 is of course better but more expensive. For me battery life and larger screen are the only advantages over Z10.

Why the flurk would you want to buy a non-LTE device you jackass? I can't figure out you idiots... Please go and remove yourselves from the gene pool.

SM88 where did you get Z30 i got my Z10 from mobicity online for £230 last October it took a while to arrive and was an Australian model but mobi city puts an adaptor in with the charger and gives it's own warranty to replace manufacturers warranty so they are ok to deal with and were the cheapest deal i could find for unlocked Z10 in UK so £200 for Z30 is pretty amazing

Tapping and flicking on my Zed 10

No LTE would not bother me as my sims not 4g and i get by fine with 3g and wi fi. My sims a cut down one from OS 7 with BIS so i only got 500mgbs but luckily i can pick up BT wi fi any where it's available so 4g doesn't mean that much to me plus unless you live in a god awful city and are a full member of the rat race there is no 4g in uk

Tapping and flicking on my Zed 10

I'm waiting for the next gen Z10 with 32 or 64 gb internal storage. I would also like it HD ready, and a longer lasting battery.

Not understand why someone buying a Z3 for 274$. Low specs, Low Res, No HDMI, No 4G.Just a big screen and (non removable) battery.
It's a shame BlackBerry selling it so high in emerging markets.

Go for Z10 instead. Much better phone.
