Highlights of BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry 10 is a robust and reliable platform that is smooth and responsive. It has a modern design and a gesture-based interface that is highly discoverable. It is designed to support, learn, and adapt to the way you work and share with features like:

  • The ever present BlackBerry® Hub, which  brings all your conversations together in one easy to manage place that you can access at any time from any app with a simple “peek”, so you’re always only one swipe away from what matters to you.
  • BlackBerry® Flow, where the BlackBerry 10 experience excels by enabling features and apps to flow seamlessly together, helping you complete the task at hand effortlessly and efficiently. For example, you can tap on an attendee listed for a meeting to see their latest tweet or LinkedIn profile. Or tap the thumbnail of a picture you just took to launch the Picture editor and quickly apply a transformation or filter, then instantly share it with your contacts.
  • A keyboard that understands and adapts to you, that learns what words you use and how you use them, then offers them up to you so you can type faster and more accurately.
  • BBM (BlackBerry® Messenger), which lets you harness the power of collaboration and exchange ideas in an instant. BBM in BlackBerry 10 includes voice calling and video chat, and lets you share your screen with another BlackBerry 10 contact.
  • BlackBerry® Balance™ technology, which elegantly separates and secures work applications and data from personal content and lets you instantly switch between your personal and professional profile for easy access to work apps and data.
  • Time Shift, an astonishing camera feature that lets you capture a group shot where everyone is smiling with their eyes wide open. Story Maker, which lets you bring a collection of photos and videos together, along with music and effects, to produce an HD movie that you can instantly share.
  • The new BlackBerry 10 browser, which sets the industry benchmark for HTML5 support on smartphones, is incredibly fast. Scrolling or zooming is fluid and responsive. The browser includes many advanced features, supports multiple tabs, lets you browse sites privately, includes a reader mode, and integrates with the platform for easily sharing content.
  • BlackBerry® Remember, which helps you tackle tasks quickly with a new way to collect, organize and action all the information sitting in different places across your smartphone. If your BlackBerry 10 smartphone is set up with a work account, your Microsoft® Outlook® Tasks will automatically be wirelessly synced with BlackBerry Remember. If you have configured an Evernote account with your smartphone, BlackBerry Remember will sync Evernote workbooks as well.
  • BlackBerry® Safeguard technology that helps protect what is important to you, and the business you work for.
  • Built-in support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync® so your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone can be simply connected and managed as other ActiveSync devices in a company, or enabled with BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 10 to gain secure access to work email, “behind the firewall” applications and data, and benefit from other security and enterprise mobility management features.
  • The BlackBerry® World™ storefront, which now includes more than 100,000 BlackBerry 10 apps. In addition, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Foursquare apps for BlackBerry 10 are preinstalled, and BlackBerry 10 customers will have access to leading applications from across the globe. BlackBerry has also been working with local partners and developers to bring various applications to the new platform, including 24Reader, Apple Daily, Coach’s Clipboard, Hong Kong Movie, Mahjong World, OpenRice, and WeChat.

As far as the topic is concerned, I'm excited to see how receptive Hong Kong will be towards BB10 since trending over there leans most towards large sized devices.

Lets correct the record, BB10 and Z10 in fact launched a week ago in Hong Kong on 28 March 2013, it is on official Blackberry Facebook.
Besides, it is not well received, people keep posting on Facebook saying that the HK people (where BB over 90% are for business use) need Q10 only and complaint about bad battery life and reboot...etc (but the Blackberry admin keep deleting those "factual" comment on the official Facebook)

KidCaboose

Let's correct EricAdams. People posting discontent on a social media don't necessarily represent the whole accurately, and often skew that representation to one extreme. "Factual" and what appears on Facebook have very little in common.

Take the type of person who wants to post on Facebook, mix it with the kind of person who would only post when unhappy, drizzle a little hate mongering over the top, slice it with a little black and white absolutism, bake it in a bit of exaggeration, and then super size it with some band-wagonning, and you're an idiot if you swallow it.

How do you activate the Chinese input on the Z10? My wife is Chinese and wanted to get the Android phone because of this function to text with her family. Maybe I can hand her over my Z10 and get the shiny new Q10 :)

nhanken

A good reason to get yourself a Q10 and give the Z10 to your wife ;)

Felipe: it is in the settings>language and input> input languages. There you tap add/remove languages at the bottom.

Congrats Hong Kong. To Brazil BB Z10 love only in mid may. Brazil has the big population in Lat.Am ~200 milion people and ~230 milion cel phones (I don´t know smartphones). BBOs was very popular but right now only in corporative use. Z10 has to increase BB love to general public again. Price in Brazil is very expensive (lots of taxs) and Z10 is waited for ~US$1,000 (rumor)... (compatible Iphone5 and SGIII)..

It's great that they got a launch party in HK but Blackberry will have to do tons to get Chinese people to adopt their phones. Android phones are huge in China with it's open OS and cheap hardware costs.

I was in Hong Kong just the other day and the Z10 doesn't seem to get any love. All around it's either the iphone or a samsung. I wanted to get a case for my Z10 while I was there, but couldn't find a single store that carries them. The moment I mentioned Blackberry, they raised their eyes and defiantly declared that they don't have that. Although some select stores are already selling the Z10.

Chinese are brand oriented. They'll buy any brand deemed to be cool. so Samsung is all the rage for now. It’ll take some time to change that. Bb10 will probably have to wait for the next wave of "Cool". Ideally though, they should just get some pop stars to hock the bb10 to get it selling.

No one will buys it. It cost HK$5988 for the Z10. And iPhone 5 cost HK$5688.

Blackberry seriously don't want any sales in Hong Kong.

coldsword

As one of the comments above, hk ppl are brand oriented. They are bunch of followers and will blindly follow the trend. Iphone and Samsung are the trend, they follow. Lots of ppl buy Louis vuitton because they think they can show off. And most of them don't even know how to pronounce it. They simply say LV. I'm hk person myself but immigrated to somewhere and I get to see my own ppl from outside world.

Hurray!!! Now give us the q10

Why would anyone want to buy this? While the Z10 does support displaying languages the Z10 does not support Korean and Japanese Input. To which is a serious problem for people who would like to use it for business in HK because they some of their major trading partners are located in those countries.

Whether or not the people in Canada could possibly understand, in order to do business, people in Asia need to be able to speak and communicate in multiple languages other than English. To which in this region, aside from Chinese, Korean and Japanese are quite major and important for business.

Of course the impetus is on Blackberry to make the decision, but what are they thinking? Why do they want to create obstacles for growth in this region due to pure stupidity.

All I can say is good luck with the China launch and having business people switch to BB10 after they realize they cannot communicate with their counterparts in Korea and Japan.

Anyone know where and how to change my OS to have Chinese hand writing Input?
I got my online, model STL100-2 and there isn't Chinese hand writing input... eager to get it!

Does anybody from Blackberry in Canada is reading here?
I just bought my new Z30 in Hong Kong and while it is possible to buy evrywhere Q5, Q10, Z10 and Z30 there is no shop in HK where to buy accessories. I would love to get a case for my new device but as mentioned by other CB users above, there is no shop how offer this :-(
I moved from iPhone 3G to Blackberry Z30 and in some stuff I have the feeling it is a step backwards. Even thought my iPhone 3G is already some years old. I have good reasons to move to BB (savety first) and I believe that BB is doing a good job with BB10 but agree with readers above about China market... there is a lot loooong way to go for blackberry in order to get stuff done in the chinese market. And chinese market is not only mainland china thought.

Some people above mention that BB was always a business solution. But why the hell BB10 allowes me only to use 3 languages in a time. I use german, my girlfriend is italian, we live in China (needs two methods to input) and most people around us use english. Makes already 5 languages in need. BB, PLEASE change this as soon as poosible!!! We live in a global world and not only in Canada with 2 languages ;-)

PS: I love CrackBerry, gave me already some good advice for my new BB tool. Thanks guys and keep on going.
