Yesterday there were some pretty big announcements regarding what apps would be coming to BlackBerry 10 devices (ahh, Skype anyone?). Today, BlackBerry has announced a boat load of new partners that will be bringing their apps to BlackBerry 10 as well. The list includes Bloomberg, CNBC, Nat West, RBC, Gameloft, Rovio, Halfbrick and many more. We expect there will be plenty more of these on the way as well, but it's awesome to see so many great companies supporting BlackBerry 10 out of the gate. Keep reading for the full press release.

BlackBerry welcomes more than 1000 of the top app partners with relevant, local content from every region of the globe

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - January 31, 2013) - A phenomenal lineup of top brands and applications have committed to the BlackBerry® 10 platform, giving the new platform the strongest content offering of any first generation mobile platform at launch. Yesterday at the BlackBerry 10 launch event in New York, BlackBerry® (NASDAQ: RIMM)(TSX: RIM) announced that 1000 of the top app partners will be making their applications available on the BlackBerry® WorldTM storefront. The partners range from leaders in social media to the top games, sports, productivity, lifestyle apps, and more.

BlackBerry Vice President of Global Alliances and Business Development, Martyn Mallick took to the stage yesterday to showcase some of applications committed to BlackBerry 10, and attendees were able to play with some of the applications for the new platform.

"Being able to announce 1000 of the top app partners is a testament to the strength of BlackBerry 10, the ease of developing for this powerful new platform, and the remarkable opportunity that it represents for developers and brands alike," said Mallick. "We have focused on bringing the most relevant apps to BlackBerry 10 - whether they are global leaders in their categories, or whether they are regional must-have apps. We are thrilled and want to thank all the developers that have shown such strong support of a platform before it has commercially launched. We share in their excitement and belief in BlackBerry 10."

Here are just some of the apps and games committed to BlackBerry 10. Many of these apps will be available at launch with others to follow:

BlackBerry welcomes over 1000 app partners on BlackBerry 10

Why is this always the first thing said?

Kevin has posted numerous articles and comments about how Instagram is on its way and they are still testing the app

Ya i know, I am well aware that there is something in the works, but I know if it wasn't me going to ask, someone else would

This app should be priority in order to gain some marketshare back in the U.S. These youngn's arent changing platforms if instagram isn't on the other side. The sooner they can announce this app the sooner they'll start gaining bb adopters by the bunches.

Instagram sucks, haven't you been following the tech news they put spyware on their app and on top of that they threat to keep your info and share it as they please.

Awesome thanks :) That and the leafs mobile app (which they have not done one for the 9900) will be my top 2 apps on tuesday to get!!

Ok seriously... that was not there in appworld before I saw it just now... I was without the app last year because they didn't have it, and I emailed them and said they are still working on it, and a few months later, still didn't see it, and they said the 9900 was not support. So this is new to me lol

I'd like to know about spotify too, no-one seems to have any info on this app even though it appeared on the initial app listing when they announced it?

I was one of the Laidoff RIM employees back in november and i was beta testing BB10 and we were testing instagram.. so its coming, i know it.

Sorry to hear that you were one of the ones affected, that's really unfortunate. Seriously that you were beta testing Instagram? For some reason I don't fully believe it will be released any time soon.

Yeah, no worries. But YES I was testing it, and it was in early stages of the test. I had signup to beta test it, and then a week later, we were cut loose.

but rest assure its coming, this was back in Early november 2012. I still have friends there and they confirmed that its still being BETA tested. no word on when tho

They say the folks at BlackBerry are very talented, so really hope you found a good position man, all the best.

And great, glad to hear we should have something! Do you have any idea how long beta testing of major apps typically took? With Saunders leading the charge, you have to figure it was pushed as one of the 'must have' Apps. That means we're coming up on almost 3 months of beta testing; seems like a long time, no?

Nice of you to post that tip. Unfortunate you were let go man, sorry.

Where have you found your feet- and what do you do?

Only apps missing for me are Pandora(yes I know the web browser version works but for my mom an app would be much simpler), google maps and netflix. BlackBerry travel should be available right?

It's weird that there is no Pandora App, while the QNX Car 2 has a Pandora app. It's the same operating system...

Actually, in regards to Netflix, surprisingly, when the Blackberry rep came to see us, she mentioned that they were having troubles negotiating with a certain company to get their app, but that they had a backup plan. First thought that came to mind was Netflix, so I asked if it was them. I was surprised to hear that it wasn't and that things were actually supposedly going well with Netflix. So you can take it with a grain of salt, but at least it's a small glimmer of hope.

I think the wording they used in the presentation was misleading. They said Skype, WhatsApp are committed to BB10 but did not say these apps are currently available. No timeline.

when they did the first video call to London - whatsapp logo could be clearly seen on the screenshare of the London device (puns unintended :P)

Ya but people reviewing the devices and those you currently have a Z10, cannot download either app. On sale today in the UK and in Canada next week, and users can't download those two apps?

So I guess all that's left is Netflix and Instagram, and all shall be well in the world. Damn. We complain about privacy but we want to take more photos to post on a site that clearly tells you they own those photos. And we complain that we are so disconnected but we want access watch to tv 24/7. I wish that wasn't the case, but this device's success partly hinges on creating social problems. Needless to say I'm getting mine next week! :)

I love bb! In fact all my co-workers know me as Mike-aka BB(I know lame). But like many of our mobile nation people, I own more than one device (S2 & iTouch). I have a question for the people begging for instagram? Have you ever used instagram? And if you have, what device have you used it on? Reasons why I ask, if you want instagram chances are you're already using it on a non-bb device... Or you want to be a "new" user. Which one are you? Because I have instagram on my iTouch and not on my S2, why? Because I don't need to have it on my S2, its that simple. If I want to use instagram I just hotspot my BB or S2(since it dies so fast I generally don't hotspot it) then I upload whatever I want. I understand its easier to have everything all on one device, but that's just not possible, you can't BBM on other platforms and you can't watch netflix or instagram on bb... Big deal, just buy a touch... This way you get the best of all 3 worlds. Again I understand some people can't afford it or whatever else reason. But this is the world we live in, I have friends on iOS and droid who wish they had BBM. For me it easier to have my be-loved BB at the hip and carry other stuff on the side to give me the other fixes...PS Instagram is not all that! Just random pictures of girls, girls, girls, and food. Lmfao;)

Teamviewer please, i really need for my work (IT and Help Desk), but maybe work sideloading from Android, any one has try it?

Also some radio apps from Mexico, but i think is only matter of time.

Live Long and Prosper!

Yeah, to just port the app doesn't work. the connection methods seem to differ. the way it address' the device capabilities (API) , seems to be where the problem is.

Have conversed with them, but it seems nobody opens up whether they are developing it or not and nor any form of release date.

I wouldn't hold my breath either.

Good, finally got Skype.
And it got Whatsapp and Facebook too, good.
If there are Instagram, that would be great =]

Docs To Go is included. BB owns Docs To Go so you can bet it will always be on every device (unless I'm mistaken).

I'd love to see Sky in the UK getting involved as they're now on Android after being solely on Apple products and advertising them and laptop only. Otherwise I'm happy with the list so far just need to wait for the white Z10 and thats me sorted

+ 10

When will these apps that were mentioned during the Launch Event be available for download???

I have my Z10 and Whatsapp, Skype, Fruit Ninja etc is not in BlackBerry World

BlackBerryIdea 'Your Idea's In Motion' @BlackBerryIdea

They could be making beaucoup money right now if the BB10OS had been released to the PB right away. I own some of these games on my Droid Razr Maxx, but I find I enjoy them more when they're available on my Playbook. Much smoother, less lag, less eye strain....less productive at my job.

There are alot of us myself included who are #TeamBlackBerry to the core!!! But we are vastly outnumbered by squares, lames, and total douchbags who only wanna see blackberry fail. And they won't stop until they get there netflix, hulu plus, INSTAGRAM etc. I don't care about these apps personally, but just having them would be a HUGE PLUS for #TeamBlackBerry10

didn't they, Blackberry, said KINDLE was going to be on the playbook at launch. It launched without it, many years later, still no Kindle.

Do you have a reference where RIM said Kindle would be on the PlayBook, as opposed to someone who had no credible information saying it?

No, he's stretching the truth there. I think there were some kindle icons visible in some screenshots and advertisements. Basically, RIMs communications, advertisements, suggested or implied that Kindle would be available on playbook, but it never happened (unless you sideload).

This time, they've come out and made an affirmative statement that Kindle is "committed" to BB10.

What I find troubling is, supposedly BlackBerry has a good working relationship / partnership with Facebook, yet no Instagram application at launch! That speaks volumes to me....

They have a facebook app and they're still ironing out the kinks in the instagram app. What's so dang troubling? You think they should release a buggy program that crashes and doesn't work? You think that would be good press? They will release it when it's ready. Oh.... SO troubling!

Anybody heard any news on Flipboard? I have it side loaded to my playbook but it doesn't work very well..

For me.

It needs:
- Starbucks
- Flipboard
- Google maps (or just better fricking maps)

- Tumblr

bingmaps are vastly faster than google maps. from both web and mobile.
most of my colleagues owning android even prefers bing.

Funny enough, the servers hosting gmaps is aparently 3times larger(more) than the ones hosting bing. lollers.

Fail at google.
Whats microsoft doing right?

Guess , Blaise Aguera y Arcas work is paying off.

For me:

Don't give a flying FART:

This OS is brand spanking new, give it time people.

Here's the list of apps I'll download as soon as they're available., ING DIRECT Canada, Thomson Reuters, Where's My Water, MONOPOLY, Jetpack Joyride, Fruit Ninja, Angry Bids Space and Seasons, Cut the Rope, AccuWeather, Air Canada, President's Choice Recipe Box, The Weather Network, Tim Hortons TimmyMeTM, Wikitude, Yellow Pages Group, Al Jazeera, Channel 4, SoundHound, TuneIn, Amazon Kindle, CBC (News, Radio), New York Times, Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn, ooVoo, Skype, Twitter

and with the new browser, I'm not sure I even need all of those.... like I need help finding a Tim Hortons.

How to find a TIm Hortons in Toronto: walk 5 minutes in any direction. There it is.

Keep waiting to hear if the native BBpodcast (native on my Bold 9900, anyway) app is gonna make it to BB10? I use it A LOT!

It's a little discouraging, man. I guess I just assumed that all the apps I'm using now would still be on there for BB10 - not, "well ur getting Skype, but we're taking away your native podcast app, your native "Social Feeds" RSS reader, your Pandora app, your Bank of America app, etc etc

With the new html browser i bet you Wont need the application. Pinterest, Fb, twitter works like a charm even instagram without the upload capabilities.

Glad to finally see SiriusXM, been missing it on my 9900.

For me.

- Starbucks

-Ship finder

-google calendar sync

-Crackberry wallpaper changer

It is so amazing how much people over at WPCentral are bashing BB10. And at the top of their ridicule is the lack of apps that BB10 has. I even had one guy tell reply to me boasting about Tango and KiK messenger. I can't believe how much people's attitudes change and how they can be in a worse off position than BB10 is when they first started and now that they have 3% (so impressive) of the market (still behind BB) they have the nerve to act like a bunch of snobs with their 150,000 or so apps, most of which are duplicated "spam" apps. Then they even try to talk about how much the Lumia 920 blows the Z10 out of the water with its spec chart, yet they over looked the fact that the Z10 has a better screen res. The biggest thing the Lumia has over the Z10 and every other cell phone for that matter, is its camera. If you go and even say the Z10 is comparable to out! Just a fare warning.

I care about:
- Path
- Whatsapp
- Instagram
- Line
- Flipboard

Those are the 'rising' apps -probably the most popular aside from Twitter and Facebook in my country. It's all about 'social' here.

Too bad only Whatsapp is confirmed and that not even ready at launch :(

The only thing so far I would love to see is more band apps where I can deposit checks by taking the pics

A little therapy never hurts!

What about banking apps like Chase, Bank of America and TD Bank? What about PayPal, Pandora and Google Maps? And while I am frankly loosing interest for Netflix, what about HBO Go, Showtime Anytime and Max Go? Hulu and Amazon Prime? What about games from Zynga,OMG Pop, Lotum GmbH and Limited? Games like Words with Friends, Draw Something, Family Feud, 4 Pics 1Word, Icomania, Scrabble, Ruzzle, Fun Run, Temple Run? Or a favorite of my wife's, Pea Pod? How about local apps like Time Warner Cable and NYC MTA Apps for commuting? Love BlackBerry and as I am only a couple of days away from purchasing my Z10, I am really beginning to ask myself if it's worth it.

Any progress from Rbs banking app? ,I currently use the browser but had hoped an app would be forthcoming

I'm the same, really waiting for this one to come out, as well as Google Maps. Missing being able to transfer money between accounts and check balance on the go!
