BlackBerry Tour owners have got some official OS update love. Here is a quick run down of who has released what OS for the Tour. Be sure to check your desktop if your carrier is support or if it's not, you can hit up the direct downloads from each carriers BlackBerry downloads page. Just remember to delete your vendor.xml file if the OS you download is not from your carrier.

Bring out 5.0 for the Tour!! I'm on my 4th replacement Tour, I wonder if I can get the Storm2 instead of another replacement Tour??
You will need to replace the phone multiple times in one month to get them to consider it. They will tell you the Storm 1 is a closer link. I had to pay $100 to go from the Storm 1 to the Tour.
I had 4 Storm replacements and everytime I spoke to a rep they said they won't give me the Tour as a replacement but then I threatened to leave and go to Sprint (since they had the same phone and I cut mobile's contract to come to Verizon for the Storm anyway) and some reps were ok with me leaving but ten I'd just say something to hang up then I finally met the "right" person who decided to finally send me a Tour instead...I was soo pissed I ad tocall Verizon everyday because of that crappy phone and all they wanted to do was replace it with another.anyway my point is u just have o gt the "right" person because everyone will claim they can't do it or you need more than 3 replacements in a month..or better yet ask them o put a ticket on ur phone...
for the record after having and falling in love with my Tour for 2.5 months it sht off and never turned back on so I had to get that replaced as well
You should had been offered another device after the 3rd replacement. I used to sell for an indirect Verizon agent.
I don't know why you are having such issues with The Tour.
I have this BB and love it. It is also my first BB I wouldn't take The Storm if it was offered to me free. I like a touch screen but not the Storm, even the S2 doesn't do anything for me. I really like the Tour and am sorry you have such problems. You are entitled to have another model.
But I would check things out first before deciding on the Storm.

I have a Verizon Blackberry 9630 - and I got an email this morning from RIM saying that I can download 5.0! I'm trying it right now - I'll let you know what I find out!
really? bc i would like to finally have a suppourted version of 5.0 since the one i have is leaked!

I would highly recommend holding off on the upgrade at present time. The appearance of the screens is sweet but it costs you. Signal reception is worst with 5.0 and battery consumption is up. The beta version of 5.0 had a longer life but something was changed between the beta and offical version. Hopefully RIM will come out with a SP soon that solve these problems.

Do you have Quick Pull downloaded on your Tour? If not, then get it. And run it everyday. It boots the BB like a PC and you don't have to remove the battery to do it. This app makes it so much easier.
I would highly recommend not downloading anything about the OS till Verizon releases it. I also got an email and couldn't get it to download. Until Verizon releases it, we cannot get it. And it is better to wait because downloading and not having Verizon approve it, can cause more issues with the phone. If you do the quick pull every night it will help.
I did call Verizon and they haven't released it and dont know when they will. Be patient.
I downloaded Appalachian version for my Blackberry Tour 9630 on Sprint carreir... and now my BBDM won't connect to my BB? How to fix this? And where do I delete vendor.xml?

My stock 4.7.1.40 works just fine on my Verizon Tour. I may not bother to upgrade when 5.0 officially comes out. Who knows when it will.
Enough already Verizon........Of course, Verizon might wait until the new Tour comes out so they can say "Tour 2 with all new Tour software 5.0" or something like that......

On Sunday I ran Desktop Manager and was told there was an update to 5.0 for my Tour. I installed it and it was pretty nice. However, there were problems. BBM was a problem. The icon disappeared so I installed it again and still no icon. Wasn't hidden or anything.

Verizon hasn't released it yet and until they do I don't recommend downloading anything regarding the OS it can ruin your BB and it will void any mfg warranty you may have on the phone.
I do run the quick pull app nightly and it reboots the BB without having to remove the battery. They recommend it nightly.
Maybe they are waiting for Tour2 to come out like they did with the Storm but Verizon is top notch. They check things out before allowing the downloads to be done.

I'm on VzW and when I connected to DM today it indicated there was an upgrade available. When I ran it notified me that the version on the device was greater than the upgrade version. I'm running .53 from the upgrade they pulled... This update must be lower than .53 for VzW...
Would like better battery life... What version is that... LOL
Those updates are not love. It's obvious the Tour is a redheaded step-child RIM doesn't care for. I wish I would have waited for another month for Storm 2.
Folks, the 5.0 update that we all got was an upgrade to DM and not that Tour OS. I just downloaded .61 from Appalachian and my reboot time is the absolute fastest that it has ever been, and it seems to be a little quicker and less laggy. I am happy with it so far. I will give it a day and see if anything else is different. I am sure it was just a minor minor upgrade.

I'm not downgrading to 4.7.1- 5.0.0.230 is too awesome- never reboots, everything works and I like the zen theme that comes with it-

My DM is installing 5.0.0 on my Sprint TOUR!! So Sprint has released Ver 5.0.0 OS!

I've tried and tried and it won't load no matter what... I've previously loaded all kinds of updates and never had any issues before.
Btw, I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise and Ultimate... could that be the culprit?
OK so i installed the .61 and deleted the vendor.xml but my blackberry is not showing up in desktop manager at all. Will someone please adivse. Thank you

Lol @ everyone crying over no Verizon update. Guess what, BB OS's are only device specific and carrier independent (read: ANY of these will work on your Verizon 9630). Just delete the vendor.xml file and upgrade normally.

i should have given more info I am running 4.7.1.40 on verizon. DM says 4.7.1.61 is a downgrade (bluegrass cellular)

I got this email this morning, so I plugged my blackberry in (already running 5.0.0.230) and all it came up with was some kind of update for "core applications". Not really sure what that meant...could someone inform me?

Meh, 4.7.1.xx was just plain unstable period. I doubt any of these builds is any different. Rockin on 5.0.0.230 and never looking back. Thanks anyway though :-)
There is indeed a new Desktop Manager 5.0.1. But no new Operating system for Sprint. I think this is where the mix up is people.
