ok i'm about to ask a really stupid, when a phone says it's 129.99 on a 3 year contract, what exactly does that mean,

It means you sign up for a three year contract and then you get the phone at the discounted rate of $129.99. If you don't sign a contract then you pay full price for the phone. Probably $499.

I, too, am going to ask a stupid question. When you signed a contract, will you still pay monthly even though you won't be using it? I mean I'm planning to unlock it right after I get one.. if I will be able to get one.
