The worldwide BlackBerry 10 event is just a few weeks off now. Pretty soon we'll all be carrying a brand new device with an awesome new OS and features. Through the years we've all had our fair share of BlackBerry devices (some more than others) and seen the evolution of BlackBerry along the way. When you think about it, it's pretty amazing to see the timeline of devices that some users have gone through. Personally I've been through more than enough devices since I picked up my first BlackBerry and I've never looked back.

As we move into a new generation of BlackBerry devices however, we'll all be starting a new BlackBerry journey. Just as the original 850 and 950 series pagers did for the BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10 devices will pave the way for a new line of devices. We'll get in on the ground and be able to say we've been with BlackBerry 10 since the beginning.

When I pull open my "device drawer" in my office, it's crazy to see just how many phones I've been through over the last few years. At first glance I see my first BlackBerry - an 8830WE - my BlackBerry Pearl Flip (which will always be close to my heart), my Tour 9630 and my Torch 9800. All such different devices but all special for their own reasons.

The 8830WE was my first device. I had been using an LG Chocolate and one of my former employees had just picked up an 8830. He showed it off to me one day and I knew I just had to have it. At the time, I knew nothing about BlackBerry but I did know that I had to have that phone. Sure, it didn't have a camera and looked very intimidating at first, but I didn't care. I knew that I'd get the hang of it quickly and be happy with my purchase. After a few hours of manual reading I started looking around on the internet for answers to my questions. I came across CrackBerry and jumped into the forums and never looked back.

As a bit of a fun post in our BlackBerry Nostalgia series, let's take a look back at the history of devices that our writers have used over the years. Keep in mind that we're all 100% BB adicts so the lists are quite long, you may have only had a few devices over the years but that's ok too :-)

I had so many since 2005 I can't even list em all.

Bb10 has 80 million + potential users waiting on the bb10 device in 2013. I'd like to see us as bb people line up on the release day show android and iOS, blackberry is really back with. Strong following.

Curve 8310 > Bold 9700 > Torch 9800 > Bold 9900!

Can't wait for the N Series to come out so I can grab that one next!

8830WE
9800 Torch
9860 Torch
32G Playbook
2nd 32G Playbook

and some day soon.. A new shiny L series BB10.

#BB10Believe!

My list looks something like this:

7290
8110 Pearl
9000 Bold
9700 Bold
9800 Torch
9900 Bold

Those have been my main phones, these were my backups in case anything happened:

8300 Curve (red)
8520 Curve
9300 Curve 3G
9360 Curve (white)
9360 Curve (black)
9810 Torch (white)
9860 Torch

Can't wait to add the BB10 touchscreen device in Q1 '13 :)

lol, bla1ze and i both started off with the pearl 8100, though i haven't matched his phones since then, i went from the pearl to the storm and currently the storm 2 9550. I'm hoping the bb10 l series can be my next device jumping past os 6 and 7 straight to 10

So, it goes like this -
Bold 9000
Bold 9780
Torch 9860
Bold 9790
Torch 9810
Curve 9300
Bold 9900
Still miss that 9000 (sniff, sigh).

My history, as far as my primary everyday device:
7105t
8820
Bold 9000
Bold 9700
Bold 9900

(And as a dev, I also now have a collection of test devices which includes some of the older phones from the above list.)

Prior to BB, I had some now-ancient Nokia phone running Symbian.

My history:
7100t
8110
9530
9000
9800

gf's history:
8800

Love Kevin's timeline, "then every BB after that". Doesn't get more definitive than that.

First Device: Curve 8330

- Tour 9630

Ahhh the memories...
Keith

My first BB was the Curve 8900. I loved that phone. In fact, thats the phone my girlfriend uses, and it's still going strong. I've been using a Torch 9800 the last 2.3 years. I passed on the Blackberry 7 phones because I'm only recently eligible to upgrade to a new phone. I'm waiting patiently for BB10 for my next device! And I think instead of handing down my trusty 9800 to my Girlfriend, I may get a BB10 device for her as well!

My first BB was a Strawberry Curve 8330 (Pink Curve that my friends all made fun of me for, but that's okay), then Storm 9530, Storm2 9550, and currently a Torch 9810 backed by a Playbook w/OS 2.1.

Blackberry by choice!

Mine aren't tremendously exciting, would have loved to be on board with those early devices:

9000;
9700:
9860;
9790;
9900;
PlayBook 32GB;
PlayBook 64GB.

9100 pearl 3g
9790 bold
playbook 32

i went a few years without a phone in protest to mainly rogers greed and my employers gave me work phones, so i didn't want/need a personal one... that is, until i got my first blackberry, the pearl 3g. LOVE this phone,... still do. So easy to type on that thing... but she needs some tlc..
not to popular around here though it seems.

Started out with an 8100, then 9000. Now using a 9800 (personal) and 9900 (work). Oh, and have a Playbook of course.

love the bb history. I went 8330, iphone, Verizon Wireless XV6900, 8130, 8230, windows SGH-I900L OMNIA, droid 1, droid eris, 9530, palm pre plus, 9550, droid incredible, 9630, 9650, droid 3, 9810, samsung stratospher, iphone 4, razr maxx, galaxy nexus, droid pro, 9930. I currently use my 9930 with a playbook for everything i do. As you can tell, i love my phones. something else you can probably see is that i always come back to BB. There are many reasons for that ;)

my timeline is as follows:

Curve 8310
Storm 9530
Storm 9550
Torch 9850
i am waiting not to patiently for BB10 since i am ready for an upgrade

Storm 2 9550
Hopefully a BB10 L-Series will fill this spot before too long :)

PlayBook 16GB if we're counting tablets too lol

My device history:

Curve 8320
Curve 8900
Bold 9700
Bold 9780
Bold 9900
Future > BB 10 Qwerty

Prior to BlackBerry was a Nokia man except for the Razr.

Hey all. My device history looks something like this:

Curve 8530
Bold 9900

Before that, I was using a variety of non-smart phones and feature phones.

My device history:

Pearl 8130
Storm2 9550
Bold 9930

Looking forward to picking up a BB London sometime after release :)

My timeline is as follows:
Motorola Razr
BlackBerry Torch 9810
BlackBerry 10, 11, 12... for as long as it lasts and I am alive.

Proudly a member of TeamBlackberry, and in it for the long haul.

Looking to add an L-Series device to this list

When I first used a blackberry in 2008 it wasn't a personal choice but it was a recommendation from a friend so I just followed and after that I got hooked into it and sticked with blackberry until now. So here's my device history.

Bold 9000
Pearl flip phone
Storm
Storm 2
9700
9780
9800
9900
9900 (purchased another one)
Porsche Design P'9981

Playbook as my tablet

It's not much but I can see this list expands as time goes by. :)

Bold 9000
Another Bold 9000
Storm 2 unlocked for AT&T
Torch 9800 (bought on launch day)
Torch 9810 (bought on launch day)
Another Torch 9810
BB10 L-series (will be bought on launch day)

IN 2007 IT ALL STARTED FOR ME.
8130
8330
9630
9650
9700
9780
9900
PLAYBOOK
9360
NEXT UP BB10

7290
8700G (T-mobile)
Storm 9530
Storm 9550
Torch 9850

It's funny to me how many of the writers tries a full touchscreen BB and never tried another. It appears they came to the same conclusion, that BB makes the best physical keyboards but the worst virtual keyboards.

Thank goodness BB10 has fixed all that. Curious to know which BB10 device each writer is expecting to purchase.

LOL at kevins; "then every bb after that.."
I'm pearl 8100> curve 8310 > bold 9000>bold 9700> torch 9800> bold 9930 and PlayBook 64gb

BlackBerry Curve 8520 > BlackBerry Curve 9300 & BlackBerry PlayBook 16GB > BlackBerry 10 the L-series in my hand one day ^^

Being an Iphone user extensively since the launch of the Iphone 3G, I never knew about Blackberry until much later on. The keyboards have piqued my interest though, and the Bold 9780 without the camera was the first Blackberry phone I started using. I chose the non-Camera version because I needed a phone I could use in the army. Since then I have started getting almost every new release of Blackberry.

The list is:
Bold 9780 non-camera
Torch 9860
Curve 9320
Torch 9810
And now my daily driver is the Bold 9900

6210 (T-Mobile) + personal cell (Samsung SCH-A530)
7210 (T-Mobile) + personal cell
7130 (VZW)
8130 (VZW)
9650 (VZW)
I have a 9360 (AT&T) issued as part of my job now, but I couldn't use the 9650 for a personal phone any longer and dropped it for a Droid Razr Maxx HD. I'm off contract so who knows, but RIM has to earn back my trust with BB10 before I make it my daily driver again.

My list

Pearl 8100
Curve 8320
Curve 8900
Bold 9700
Bold 9930
Playbook 16 GB
Playbook 32 GB

L-Series!

My journey on the road of BlackBerry started with my trusty Curve 8330. The constant battery pulls and never ending hourglasses were annoying, but for some reason, those quirks only grew my love for my BB. Since then I have jumped from line to line with a Tour 9630, Style 9670, an assortment of Bolds, and after my last Bold took an unfortunate exit, a Curve 9350.

BlackBerry for life

Curve 8830
Bold 9650
Bold 9930

I'm surprised nobody in CrackBerry had the 9650, it was a great phone & would still be using it today holding out for BB10 but the microphone went out on it. I love my 9930 but the touch screen acts up when on rooftops where I'm at during work hours, not sure why but it's very annoying so I really miss a non-touch screen at those times. I started out late in the game with smartphones but BB was my first one and it will be my last.

CrackBerry Is My Choice Of Drug

And that's my lovely Bold 9700. Never had any chance to replace it with the newer models, but seeing as it can do what I want it to do (and I know what it can do), I'd say it was a solid choice, though by chance at that.

Can't wait for BlackBerry 10 devices, though.

I haven't been in the BB game for as long as others but as long as RIM keeps making them, I will keep on upgrading year after year.

I just started using BB in 2010 so I haven't had as many BB as others, but I will be upgrading every 12 - 18 months.

WANT A CRANBERRY 10 SLIDER NEXT YEAR! :) Red for the win!

I am still using my BlackBerry 7290 (same device as Kevin's 1st BlackBerry), it works like a champ, and is almost indestructible !

Might not have the order right, but...

WOW

my first BB was a 6230, then 7230, 8700 (and fast as possible switched to) 8300, then the BOLD, and then the second BOLD ;)

Can't believe almost all of the crackberry crew started after "me".

On the other hand, usually I keep my BBs 2+ Years ;)

[Non blackberry]
Samsung A540 (CDMA, telus, monochrome)
Samsung A720 (CDMA, telus, 64k color)
UT Starcom 6700 (CDMA, wifi, bluetooth, 64k Color, touch screen, windows mobile 5.0, lasted for five years, again on telus)

Then...
[BlackBerry]
Pearl 8130 (CDMA, telus)
Bold 9700 (3G HSPA/HSPA+, telus)
Bold 9900 (switched to WINDmobile) and 16GB playbook (upgradable to BB10)

Next up, blackberry 10.

After having iPhone 1,3, 3GS, 4, 4S and 5 I made the plunge and started my Blackberry timeline with the Blackberry Q10 (not their best from what I understand, but I love it). From the way my Q10 is operating, I will have many more Blackberries, I love the feel of this phone.
