The CrackBerry.com "User" Theme for the BlackBerry Curve

Built as present to the CrackBerry.com Community by JC Designs/GadgetBean.com in honor of CrackBerry.com's 1st Birthday, this BlackBerry theme features a unique bottom dock zen layout with shortcuts that move when selected! Static images don't do this theme justice... you need to see it in Action to fully appreciate it! While the shortcuts on the main application screen can be hidden/moved, on the homescreen the dock shortcuts are fixed. Therefore, the CrackBerry.com theme comes in two builds - the User and the Abuser, which are identical except for the shortcuts in the bottom dock, which are arranged as follows:

CrackBerry User: Messages / Phone / BBM / Web Browser / Calendar - A good mix of homescreen shortcuts to the most used native apps on the BlackBerry.

CrackBerry Abuser: Messages / BBM / Media / Options / Profiles - The Phone and Default Web browser shortcuts are removed from the dock for the CrackBerry Abuser - there's no need. You're likely to be looking up contacts dialing directly off the keyboard and are using Opera Mini or the CrackBerry.com Shortcut for your browsing, which require you to dive into your Apps. So to the Abuser we thus add Media, Options, and Profiles - allowing you quick access to all of your Berry's music and tweakable functions.

Features:

  • Built by JC Designs/GadgetBean - theme developer CrackTastic!
  • Unique Bottom Dock Zen looks good even when you change the wallpapers up!
  • Jumping Homescreen Shortcuts keep you entertained!
  • Packed with All the Latest Shortcuts (WiFi, etc.)!!!

Requirements:

  • Compatible Devices: BlackBerry Curve 83xx Series
  • BlackBerry Operating System v4.2.2 or >
    • Find your OS version under Options > About

To Download:

  • Ensure this theme is the correct one for your device
    • Device Model must match and meet the OS requirements
  • Login to CrackBerry.com
  • Click the "Email the theme..." link below. Then enter your BlackBerry device email address and click the "Email me my Theme! button

I don't have Blackberry email (or a data plan). How can I install? Direct link for OTA (I do have WiFi), etc?...

Have them email it to your text email. If you aren't sure of your text email, use this link:

http://www.livejournal.com/tools/textmessage.bml?mode=details

When you are connected via wi-fi, you can click the link in the text that you receive to download the .jar file.

This is great! My only wish is that we would be able to modify the shortcuts.

Nice theme, great to see animated icons.
I do wish I could customize the bar, but that in no way takes away from the great work on this theme.

not sure whats going on there - msybe do to location?

there's been literally thousands of successful downloads of the theme - don't think it's on our end. Could be something with your carrier or local issues causing the hiccup.

there seems to be a problem with the theme and OS 4.5 compatibility. When I load the "User" theme I cant see the BB Messenger icon in Zen mode along the bottom, I just see a blank space. Is there a possible fix for this?

Also with the "Abuser" theme when I hit the Application key it doesnt load to the icons, also I cant see BB messenger icon in the Abuser theme version either.

Love the theme! only hope there is a fix for the missing icon.

OK, so for anybody who has been trying to download the .zip files for Desktop Manager installation for any of the themes...you may be getting an error saying the .zip file is corrupt when you try to open it.

The .zip files are actually fine - there's a known bug in Internet Explorer when it comes to downloading this kind of file from within our content management system. Our programmer is on it and a fix should be in place SOON.

The workaround - just download using Firefox web browser. It doesn't run into this bug. Other fix is to use the OTA install vs. Desktop Manager install.

Thanks for the patience!!!

...I am having the Messenger Icon not showing up problem. That and the inability to change the main screen icons has me taking a pass on this one. Too bad because if this was fixed, I would have it as my main one for sure.

The Compressed (zipped)Folder is invalid or corrupted.

The Messenger Icon does not show up on the homescreen...but shows up on the app screen fine. Apparently this is a bug when using it w/ v 4.3 on 8330? Can anyone confirm this?

is the OTA installation currently bugging? i purchased a new blackberry and have been trying to e-mail the theme url download with no success. it keeps telling me that the link was sent but it's not coming to my inbox - have been trying off and on for a few days now...

My guess is that the OTA is def bugging cuz it doesn't send the link but my belief is that if it did send the link the OTA would work no problem but u simply cannot have one without the other so baically we will just have to wait unfortunately :-(
