BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife (BBSAK) updated to version 1.8

BBSAK v1.8

After a fairly long break from development, BBSAK (BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife) has been updated to version 1.8. The update brings with it some fixes as well as a few new features. If you aren't familiar with BBSAK, it is a desktop utility that allows you to do a ton of stuff for your BlackBerry like wipe, load a new OS, install CODs from your desktop, take screenshots and much more. In my use I have to say it's one of the best ways to salvage your device from the dreaded 507 error. Features include:

  • Wipe Blackberry leaving a 507 error
  • Reset Blackberry to factory state removing any IT Policy.
  • Take Screenshots of your Blackberry (Screenshots stored in My Pictures\BBScreenies)
  • Auto-Detects if phone is plugged in first
  • Displays PIN so you know your connected
  • Will not let you do any actions until phone detected
  • Load OS will auto delete Vendor.xml and start Loader.exe. (BBDM is needed for this)
  • Backup 3rd Party Apps
  • Restore 3rd Party Apps

Before installing v1.8 you'll need to remove any previous versions of the app. BBSAK is available free from the link below.

I have .Net Framework 4 and I am not able to install BBSAK 1.8

Any idea?

BBSAK 1.8 issue

When I installed this on my PC, the program window was too small for the program and the window is not adjustable.

I can't use the program at all. Only half my phone pin can be displayed in the window.

I guess I'll have to wait for 1.9 to come out.

Re boot the machine, then reinstall. I don't have any problems with 1.7 it works fine witH OS6 after all the app is running on windows pc not the bb. Any updates that's in this I'm sure it no over halt. If it still don't work try 1.7.

says no device-detected, push ok to continue.

Ur desktop didn't deteck ur device when u first pluged it in. Unplug the phone don't launch the app wait for the usb connection to show. Then open the app enter ut pass and you should have access if not reboot ur machine and try again.

I'm having the same issue (except my Bold 9700 is running OS 5.0.0.743). The above steps didn't help, still getting the same issue as infinus.

BBSAK 1.7 works well on winXP.
i will stuck to it, until devs fix it.

Do you have a password enabled? If so disable and try again.

After reading the comments at the source forum this program is clearly in the 1.8 BETA stages. It has several errors and did not undergo BETA testing. The developer seems to be very responsive in working on it, but I'd give it a few days at least before downloading and replacing 1.7 which works just fine for me on my Torch 9800.

You can use any mirror off of that site, they should all have the same file. If one doesn't work for you, try another one of them.

You need to have an ID to login for that download. Yeah, its free, but I don't want to have to do that.....

If you click "free user," you don't need an ID to download it. Just wait the 25 secs, and the "download" button will appear, after selecting one of the mirrors.

BB830 wipe function is not supported in 1.8
1.7 still works well.

No such luck with it detecting my Tour 9630. Maybe next update I can get it to work. Seems like a useful program. Going to try v1.7 I guess.

Installed it and it won't even open, I get windows error saying there is an error and it must close. D/L'd this as I cannot get AppLoader to run on my computer since I "upgraded" to DM6 (since uninstalled and replaced with DM5 but still no AppLoader). Oh well, I guess I am happy with my current OS...

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? After download, when I bring it up, only a portion of BBsak shows up on the screen. It cuts off right after "Modify Cods" and there's no way to expand the window any further to see the other options.

I understand its been months since this post, but if you have the answer someone else may need this. Simply maximize the program. I have had this issue for the last 3 updates. I thought it was because of the screen settings I choose, just not worth troubleshooting.

My issue now, I just downloaded to a second computer and it will not recogonize my storm 2. I guess I'll have to boot up my laptop.

According to the info I see on 1.8 it's a BETA release with (apparently) some issues. I can't get it to recognize my Bold 9700. I would give it some time for the bugs to be worked out and report your issues to the developer if the issue hasn't been reported yet.

i used this and it messed up my phone. 50/50 chance of it being repaired.
