BlackBerry Sponsors John Mayer Summer Tour Again!

By Kevin Michaluk on 8 Apr 2008 12:29 am EDT

John Mayer Loves BlackBerrysFlip back the calendar almost a year and you'll remember RIM announced it was sponsoring John Mayer's 2007 40 show summer tour. The BlackBerry branded John Mayer tour went on to gross more than $30 million, moved 684,240 tickets and the sponsorship was a finalist for the 2007 Concert Marketing & Promotion Award at the Billboard Touring Conference in New York.

Looking at those numbers, it's no surprise that John Mayer's 2008 summer tour will yet again be sponsored by Research in Motion and carry the BlackBerry name. According to Billboard.com, John Mayer's 2008 summer tour will begin July 2 at Milwaukee's Summerfest where Mayer will be accompanied by Colbie Caillat and Brett Dennen to get the crowds warmed up.

Last year RIM used these events to help spread awareness of the then brand spanking new BlackBerry Curve (come to think of it, I guess to those on CDMA carriers the Curve is still brand spanking new )... but I gotta say, I'm hoping this year it's the new BlackBerry 9000 that steals the spotlight!

The pic of mayer and simpson is an obvious shop. I can tell this from seeing quite a few shoops in my day. Nice try tho.
