Updated BlackBerry Software

OS 4.6.0.167 for the Bold!

Bold users will be happy to know a new OS has been found 'in the wild'. OS 4.6.0.167 can be found right here. I must warn however, do not install this if you are unsure what to do. If you mess up it could be more trouble than it's worth. I don't want anyone messing up their Bold!

CacheBerry for BlackBerryCacheBerry Beta 1.96

Need a paperless geocaching app for your BlackBerry? CacheBerry is the answer!  So what is Geocaching I can hear you saying? Here's a brief description from Geogaching.com

Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a GPS unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

The new beta supports OS 4.5 on 8000 series devices and also has support for a media card. There's also a 30-day trial. After that, you can pick it up for $14.99. For more info head over to www.cacheberry.com or download OTA at http://www.cacheberry.com/beta/default.aspx

Free BlackBerry Software

BBGPSGolf for BlackBerryBBGPSGolf

Golfers, even though fall is here and golf season is coming to an end (at least for most Canadians!), I've got a new and FREE golf GPS application for you to try. BBGPSGolf is a great app that lets you create and map your own course online. You can then download the course direct to your GPS enabled Berry for use on the first tee. Why not give it a try? If you do, I know the developer Justin would be thrilled to hear your feedback.

BeamReader Native PDF ViewerBeamReader Native PDF Viewer

BeamReader is a native PDF Viewer that displays all original PDF fonts. The good thing about this is it will display all fonts, images and formatting exactly as it would look on your PC. There's no server-side pre-processing involved in viewing PDF documents, so rendering is done fast and locally right on your BlackBerry. This fact makes BeamReader very secure because PDF's never leave your Berry for server-side conversion.

Don't throw away your money on DialByWord...this function already comes in the OS! Just hold down ALT while typing the letters, and when you dial, it will convert them to the proper digits automatically. Keep your $4.95, and thank RIM :-)

great built in feature, maybe it's a new OS thing? maybe old OS don't have that feature so the program would be great those people. just make sure you check if it is indeed built into your OS first before you buy the app

TheSultan

Ya know, when I was reading about that app I was thinking "ok, so, I could pay $5 to do this, or just do it for free now" I read it 3 times to make sure I wasn't missing something!

Cracker

Just downloaded and tested the trial version (tested for one contact). Works great so far!!!

Note: Follow instructions to the letter.

What makes photo caller id "delux" or different than the original?

BigBadWulf

Found a free app called Chronograph a while ago that is just incredible. Wish I could remember where and give the developer credit, but if your looking for a stop watch or countdown timer it will amaze you!

tscharron

If you Google "Chronograph for blackberry" it will come up with a Blackberry Forums post with info and an ota download link.
