BlackBerry Software Roundup for February 29th, 2008!

It's been quite a hectic week here at CrackBerry! We've launched a few new CrackBerry apps, and so far they've been getting great reviews. The BlackBerry PIN Exchange and Viigo - CrackBerry.com Edition are both available as free downloads. If you haven't tried these yet I recommend you do. I'll touch more on these a little later in the Roundup.

But enough chit-chat for now, lets get going on what's new, updated and exciting in the BlackBerry software world!

NEW SOFTWARE

Ringo Ringtone Manager for BlackBerry

Ringo is an easy-to-use ringtone manager that is now available for use on the BlackBerry. Use your favorite music or sound clip as a ringtone, email or message alert. The controls are bright and intuitive, and it is a great way to personalize your Berry even more.

Ringo lets you pick from your address book to assign ringtones. Simply choose a contact, then choose your ringtone for phone, SMS messages or emails from that contact.

There are also some cool groups capabilities. If you use the Address Book to organize your contacts into groups you'll probably love this. Ringo allows you to quickly set unique ringtones, email tones and message alerts for each category in the address book.

You can use any MP3 or AAC music file as a ringtone, email tone or message tone. So if you've got a lot of music on your system or memory card... Ringo makes it easy to set these as ringtones for your favorite contacts.

Earlier this week, we unveiled a brand new app that works together with Facebook in a brand-new way. It's called the BlackBerry PIN Exchange, and it enables you to easily discover the PIN numbers of your favorite BlackBerry friends and associates.

You can decide on the level of privacy you want to maintain... So if you'd prefer to keep your information private... no biggie!

EZ Reregister
Coming very soon is EZ Reregister, the BlackBerry Application Reregistration Request Tool. I can hear you saying... 'what the heck is that?'. Well lets pull a snippet from the manual:

'There is a wide variety of software applications available for Blackberry devices. Often, commercial applications have a unique registration key based on the unique PIN number of the device. This protects the software vendor from piracy, and protects the user’s investment in the software from use by others. Unfortunately, if you need to swap your Blackberry device, you have to ask the software vendors for another registration code, based on your new PIN number. To do this, you need to have not only a list of the software installed on your device, but the registration numbers, and vendor contact information as well. For most, this is an infrequent task, but a cumbersome one.

Storing all the information needed to request Reregistration and reducing the time this process takes was the catalyst for the creation of EZ Reregister.

EZ Reregister is a small database application that allows a Blackberry user to store the names, registration codes, and vendor email addresses of all of their software applications. If a user changes their device, at the click of a button they can generate emails* requesting Reregistration codes from any or all of the application vendors stored in the database.'

Starting March 1st, EZ Reregister will be available for purchase. The full version will be $9.99 and the Lite version will be $4.99. This is by all indications going to be a limited time offer. These prices will be in effect from March 1st to March 6th only. After that, the app may jump up to $14.99 and $6.99.
