Well, this a nice surprise that ultimately brings us one step closer to seeing an actual release date. The BlackBerry PlayBook has now appeared at the FCC in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions. Oddly enough, it appears to be the WiFi only version. Of course, not much else other then it having appeared there is revealed due to the confidentiality request filed but as history dictates that means further announcements are just around the corner.

i would like to purchase one on April 10, 2011 in Toronto, Ontario CANADA. make it happen, RIM.
What if you could purchase one earlier? Would you wait until April 10th?
if anyone remembers for the torch FCC announcement came out a day before release announcement. tomorrow is SXSW it is possible that it will be announced tomorrow.

to be honest to me i just want a release date give me all this info once i know when its coming out its just starting to bug me no mention of a date. Arg RIM lets go just give us a date doesnt need to be next week i just want to know the prices and when i can get MY hands on one

too little too late, rim already announced plans to make bbm for andorid and ios, so why would anybody stick around for qnx 1.0 for rim??? When other platforms are way ahead
webos, qns os and wp7 os are grasping at straws, they are going to be having a hard time catching up in terms of developer support compared to android and ios.
A) No, RIM has not announced plans to develop BBM for Android and iOS. That's speculation at this point.
B) What does having BBM have to do with me getting a PlayBook? I honestly think the PlayBook stands on its own as a pretty awesome device.
C) QNX is way more capable than either iOS or Android in its ability to handle symmetric multitasking and advanced rendering. Essentially it is a fully fledged OS that happens to be on a tablet, and not a mobile OS tweaked to run on a tablet. That is a huge difference.
D) Why do I bother laying this out for you when you're just a troll on a BlackBerry blog? That one I can't answer - you bring out the worst in me.
I am on your side BurninatorX the Blackberry Playbook is going to be on its own higher level than the rest. I can't wait to get my hands on one. If they could give us the release date soon so we can start planning for it that would be awesome...

Yes they might have more apps, but after the Playbook release it'll be clear apple no longer had the best tablet OS, not even close..... then Qnx on phones Sorry apple your days of cool are over. you may be the biggest but no longer the best.

It was a great idea from RIM...but at this point they're about 6 months too late to the party. Take in the necessity for a BB phone to use some of the basic features and it is becoming less and less appealing by the day.....especially with iPad 2 in stores in about 25 hours.
Take into account that first gen tech product tend to have a ton of kinks to work out and I think I'll be sitting this one out.

Too late, will be upgrading to an iPhone 5 this summer and I already gave the first gen iPad. Sorry RIM a little too late now...

Don't care if it is the WiFi only model (as that is the only model I will buy), just release it. I'm dying to spend some money on something and it I don't buy this soon, I'll end up spending money on a camera or something... Then I wont have any cash to spend on a PlayBook... Must resist buying other stuff while waiting :-(
The playbook is hitting everything except for the shelves!! IPad 2 is out on Verizon tomorrow already!!!!
We don't like to waist our money on apple product that do little more than entertain. Not to menntion still now flash don't waist my time.
Don't get me wrong. I don't care for Apple products. The point is they are coming out with their second tablet already and every other company already have their hats in the ring. We hear a lot about the playbook and it features but that doesn't help the fact that its not on the shelves yet.
I'm disappointed that the playbook is only coming out in wifi. Yea you can bridge with your BB, but that means that the internet conection on the playbook will only be as good as your bb.
Like 90% of iPads sold were wifi only, but ya you want to complain, so go ahead.
Yes, you right about the IPAD. Everything so far is speculation, but it would be nice to see the Playbook cme out with 3G.
Not to mention that cell versions are already announced..... ?

- BlackBerry 4G PlayBook with Wi-Fi + HSPA+: second half of 2011

Wait to see what RIM has to say about it - there's so much speculation about the Playbook that I don't believe anything anymore.
all that baby needs now is a blood SD/expansion slot!
I would like the 64gb version but it'll be a bit to pricey for my pocketbook. 32gb should be just fine
C'mon RIM just release it we've been hearing and reading rumors for months, I'm just tired of that.
