BlackBerry Pearl 8220 on Italian Carrier TIM's Website!

TIM BlackBerry Pearl 8220
By Kevin Michaluk on 9 Sep 2008 06:31 pm EDT

Geeez... nobody can keep a lip on RIM's new flip phone it seems. We had Rogers sending out flyers this weekend featuring the BlackBerry Pearl 8220, and now it has popped up on Italian carrier TIM's website. The word is RIM will "officially" announce the Pearl 8220 tomorrow, but it looks like TIM just couldn't wait. Check out the translated spec list for the Pearl 8220 after the jump !

BlackBerry Pearl 8220 with 2.0 Megapixel camera and EDGE/Wi-Fi connectivity.

  • 102 g

Battery Life:

  • 336 stand-by time
  • 240 minutes of talk-time

The sticker price rings in at 269 Euros (~380USD). Not cheap. It doesn't look like the device is actually available for purchase just yet, though you can fill in your email address to be notified of its release (I *think*... my Italian not so good). It's a little sad to see the only color currently offered is Black. I've really been hoping for some funky colors, but think that dream may be fading fast (though we have seen it appear in red on device simulators)... I guess we will know soon enough. CTIA is just HOURS away!

Wow! That did not take long, huh?
Word sure spreads fast!

that's true, I'm italian and "avvisami" means that the phone is not available at the moment but you can leave your mail so they will be notify you when the phone comes.

In addiction of that, the bold is shown on the TIM website from many weeks but at the moment it is still not available. I don't think that TIM will be the first carrier giving out that model, I took a T-Mobile Bold few days ago because I was tired on waiting the tim's :D

Yeah, "avvisami" just means inform me....

Ryback, Di dove sei? Vengo dalla Roma...Ma sono residente in USA...

I can actually confirm that's an early advertisement.

BTW, it's the very same for the Bold, yet to be released - no forecast about real availability.

Prices are, give or take, around average in Europe, but I couldn't tell if TIM requires a 24mo contract - I suspect so, and then the price is huge.

Unfortunately, Vodafone lost to TIM to be the first carrier with both BBs (only hope in the near future they will offer tha Bold).

In any case, TIM S-U-C-K-S a lot !
