Ultimate Twitter Client Roundup Part 4: Openbeak
OpenBeak (formerly TwitterBerry) is probably one of the best known Twitter clients for BlackBerry. When Twitter first started its monumental rise, TwitterBerry was one of the few clients available for BlackBerry, and everyone who was jumping on the Twitter wagon got in on the action. New clients began to show up, and TwitterBerry quickly fell to the back of the pack. It didn't totally go away, and now rebranded OpenBeak, it still hopes to capture users with its simple features and ease of use. Take a look at the video above for a quick overview of OpenBeak's features (or lack of) and see how it compares to the other clients in our Ultimate Twitter Client Roundup.

I have tried a couple of other Twitter apps on my BlackBerry, but OpenBeak is my Twitter application of choice. It's simple, reliable, and offers the functionality that I need. It's very quick to post a tweet on the go.

This was probably the first Twitter client I ever used (back when it was Twitter Berry). For a no-frills twitter client, ti was pretty good. Personally, I prefer a more rich user experience and have moved on...

Haven't tried any other clients as I see no need to.

Was a good no-frills no-nonsense twitter client, until I tried Ubertwitter which I'm using till this very day.

Uber Twitter has added so many more features that it surpassed the other clients...I like Tweet Genius which detects when Twitter has error quickly while, UT takes a while, UT has so many features. I hopw they hurry and move out of beta. I'd pay 9.99 for UT, I paid 7.99 for TG. I'll give this a try though.

OpenBeak is about the ugliest name they could have come up with. I understand they needed to change it to get on App World but come on. The name alone is enough to make you not want to use it. Ubertwitter blows it away.

ya, i do think the name is very ugly...plus i think their old name and logo are MUCH better...wondering why they go backward and in the same time can't match with other app that already so advanced, how they can make it??

I used openbeak when it used to be twitterberry, mainly because Ubertwitter had a problem with the enabled firewall on my device under BES. It wasn't a bad client and as Adam said it got the job done.

I have tried so many Twitter apps. and I keep going back to UberTwitter. I had some issues with battery life with UberTwitter but I'm currently on a test f/w and so far it's amazing! Battery life is much better, the app is faster and it does not slow down my Blackberry anymore. Once when UT is final, I have no doubt they will be the best Twitter app for Blackberry.

You guys should do a fair review of SocialScope. It's a great app for updating Twitter and Facebook at the same time.
I'd still be using UberTwitter, but I don't like that it won't let me upload pictures to TwitPic, all the rest of my photos are there.

You need to do a review of TwiXtreme... Just started playing around with it and it looks pretty good.
Sure would be nice for Research in Motion (RIM) to release their Twitter client though...
