Things must certainly be on the up in terms of BlackBerry sales in the Middle East as on June 20th the first BlackBerry Retail Concept Store will open its doors in Dubai.

Located on level two of the Dubai Mall, conveniently close to the Dubai Metro Link, the BlackBerry store will provide UAE residents and visitors a chance to experience the latest models through live demo’s, as well as to pre-register for upcoming smartphones.

The new store will also ensure local users are taking full advantage of their devices thanks to the in-store maintenance and repair service hub offering free software upgrades, data back-up and transfer solutions, product set-up, service collection and warranty verification, as well as the first one-hour repair or replace service in the Middle East.

Having a store like this will certainly help customers on legacy devices make a simple transition over to BlackBerry 10. I can't help but think we need one of these in the UK - London to be more specific. Would you like to see BlackBerry roll out further retail stores in your part of the world?

Let us know in the comments.

BlackBerry to open its first retail store in Dubai - a sign of good things to come?

First store, but many firsts to come in other parts of world. I just hope they don't go too fast.

Awesome news and another opportunity to bring in money on accessory purchases and repair services. Hopefully we see more B&M BlackBerry stores worldwide.

Posted via CB10 on my Z10 & loving it!

Me too. It would be nice to go get a bunch of BlackBerry accessories at a store, or merchandise like stickers or something. Who knows, if BlackBerry 10 gets big, anything is possible, I guess.

I wish they would start opening these stores in Canada. Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver next?

Posted via CB10

And right here in Waterloo Region, but no, all we get is that stupid apple store right in the home of BlackBerry ;)

Posted via CB10

I know eh, stupid conestoga mall with 20 apple employees and it's always busy of dumb iSheep

Posted via CB10

That's amazing news....and out of sher coincidence....Telecom New Zealand launched the Z10 TODAY!!
Yup, 4 months later and NZ has finally court up the rest of the world......!

Awesome!

Posted via CB10 from my Q10 or my Z10, either way it's golden. BlackBerry makes the best computers I've ever used!

It would be great to start rolling out blackberry retail stores worldwide. If it's one thing that Americans like it's shopping at a mall. This could help blackberry with market share in the US

Need one of these in Toronto, NYC, LA, Paris, London, Cape Town, Sydney, Manilla, Vancouver, Hong Kong

Amen to that, add Seattle, LA, San Fran, and Las Vegas to the list of potential US marketplaces. They roll differently. ;)

I think that is great idea, but how would that work carrier wise? Like a future shop featuring all the carriers in one spot. Love that concept. Just think of all the good people going to the store to purchase a BlackBerry, none would
be talked into purchasing a different platform instead. Would be phenomenal. How many times does this happen I wonder? I believe this could work for BlackBerry. Time will tell. Important not to rush, as someone else was saying. Go BlackBerry! Sell like Hell. :)

Posted via CB10

When I went to get my Z10 the sales person asked me if I was getting an iPhone, I told them hell no. He seemed excited about the Z10 though, which is a positive thing.

Glad to hear BlackBerry will open retail store in Manhattan! Perhaps it can offer mini workshops on "BlackBerry Difference" focusing on security, the OS10 difference, the HUB, gestures, etc for the prospective customers or the novice?

BlackBerry needs to open stores in major cities in the US it will make a big difference with BlackBerry sales.

Posted via CB10

BlackBerry is huge there, almost every phone I saw being used was a BlackBerry. The most popular for a while was the 9380 curve which sold out there more than once

Posted via CB10

Well, i live in dubai at the moment. Nice to hear that the store is going to open at last ( was supposed to open last year). At last there will finally be a place to get blackberry accessories as all the other shops here barely stock anything for BB.
Lastly perhaps the BlackBerry store could apart from the free software upgrades offer free upgrades from the 100-1 London models they delivered here seeing that we have had LTE here over a year now.... just saying ;)

Z10 Rocking 10.1.0.2354!

Agree need to have a BlackBerry store in every major city around the world. Even here in Toronto Microsoft opened a store next door too Apple and there are hundreds of people. As much people in the Windows store as Apple, could not believe it. BlackBerry alone can at least save those legacy phone holder's when they upgrade.

This is great... I suggested this in a previous post and got told all the reasons why this wouldn't work... BlackBerry should do this in all the markets where they are dominant or have significant MS. this to me is needed to stop the bleed, defend and grow. Canada, Africa, Caribbean, India and Lat Am should be next. I for one am not convinced by the fetish with the USA market... It's cool to have but not needed to dominate globally... ala Bollywood style. Go BlackBerry

It's about time BlackBerry opens an official store in Dubai...

I'll for sure be there tomorrow for the opening...

I'll go friday morning at 10 am when there's nobody around and people sleeping in from the night before. 5pm Thursday night will be crazy traffic and also the mall will be bursting with people. ! :)

I think it's great that they open these stores in strategic locations. But as someone who works in telecom here in Canada, I think that it would be a HUGE step forward if blackberry provided this software to the cell companies around the world to be able to make smooth transitions from any platform to Blackberry 10. There's no big company who does this yet.

Posted via CB10

They should offer this in North America as well. Common sense if you want to grow market share.

Posted via CB10

I'm not quite sure about North America just yet with the consumer population being so fickle. Didn't quite work out in the airports. Remember what happens when there are no long lineups for launches? The same effect probably when they do store checks on volume of activity in the stores and compare to competition. They will have to wait until they get more marketshare. However, might not be a bad idea for BB to do a concept store in Toronto's Yorkdale Mall where they also put in the QNX cars since Tesla showroom is there too. Maybe include other products powered by QNX and some consumer proof of concepts never seen before using BB10.

Before BlackBerry opens more stores I hope they come out with more products or partnerships with companies to licence BB10 to create more products. Right now there are only 2 products available in the US/Canada - Q10 and Z10. Imagine a store with just 2 models?!?! Can't even have the Playbook on display cuz BB10.2 isn't ready yet. Apple stores are successful because of customer interaction with a variety of products. The one-hour repair or replace feature is pretty cool though. As is the free software upgrades, data back-up and transfer solutions, product set-up, service collection and warranty verification. Sort of like the "Genius Bar" at Apple stores, but much improved. Hopefully customer service will know a thing or two. Apple Genius Bar have a bunch of idiots working there last time I had an issue with my Macbook.

I may be in the minority here, but I'm really not a fan of retail stores for Blackberry right now. The current focus needs to be on carrier relationships. Just saying.

That is one thing that is going to change the customer satisfaction for BlackBerry...

I know for PlayBook, when you were dealing directly with RIM everyone that I knew had an issue with a PlayBook and called BlackBerry, they were very satisfied with the resolve..... However... where I know at least 12 more people with a Blackberry there is a lot of people that just point to Apple's customer service due to their stores, when comparing brands.... and... you cannot argue against that..

Definitely a great move and it will, IMO, serve BlackBerry well in the long run...

I have had the Z10 for over two months now, and loved it until today. I travel a great deal around the GCC and back to the US, well today I received my phone bill and more than $2,000 in data roaming charges. Went to Du my provider and was advised that Z10 doesn't work on the international package and if I use it outside the UAE I will be subject to data roaming charges. This totally defeats the business phone model. However, they do say if I put my sim card back into my Bold 9900 there will be no roaming charges. I don't understand what is going on as both phone companies in UAE have discontinued their unlimited global packages for new subscribers. Etisalat says existing customers don't have any problem with data roaming charges. Someone isn't telling the truth! Comments welcome!!

Opening and maintaining retail space cost money. They have to choose cities and location wisely to target large base of potential customers.

Posted via CB10

As much as it would be nice to see stores all over the place, that's overhead that needs to be managed properly. Grow it Slow and steady. Large and tactical markets first. How about one right in the heart of Apple and Google land? Heh heh heh.

Posted via CB10

Marketing first. Lot of tv ads like the apple commercial on NBA FINALS. How would they know that BlackBerry exist if they're not aware of the product.

Posted via CB10

Would be nice to see a BlackBerry store here in Dallas (also HQ's for AT&T by the way) rock on BlackBerry!

Posted via CB10

Love it. It's a good move to corner the market. Hoping it is signs of things to come in the future for the US.

Posted via CB10

ok, i no this is unrelated. but im looking for a way to get to the crackberry team especially kevin. i made a video and this is the most complete blackberry 10 review you will ever see...at least till when i do another *wink* anyway this is the link pls watch and share.
here is the link
www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4qRLygPSPg

And stock it with what devices? The z10 in both colors, the Q10 in both colors and a PB? pointless.

Can I buy an iPhone or Android phones + accessories in there?

Been longing for a store in the UK. Perhaps one in every city next door to a apple store, how funny would that be. But if London has to have one first then I suppose I would travel there just to visit it. FYI I can not stand going to London but I have too twice a year. Its just city's I dislike as I live in the middle of nowhere and love it plus great phone signal.

I would LOVE to see BlackBerry stores in the US. For me, NJ & FL. My husband has Apple products and spends loads of time at their One to One sessions & group sessions. They help him with his video editing or anything he wants to ask them. And he enjoys going there to play. Microsoft just opened a store in the Mall near me in NJ. It's great. Any questions or problems they are more than happy to help you with. Sure beats trying to get these people on the phone, and once you do, you can't understand them!!
It's tough getting help with a BlackBerry when the people in the stores know less than i do! It would be great to be able to walk into a Blackberry store (even a small one in a Mall) whenever you have a question about the phone or something is wrong with it. When I first got my 9000 4 years ago, there was a problem with it and it had to be replaced. The AT&T store couldn't help me so I had to drive a long distance to a location where they gave me a rebuilt one. That one has lasted 4 years, but it is tired & wants me to get a Q10. SOON!!

Great idea, however BlackBerry stores should be on the one hand in places like City or Manhattan, on the other hand there should be a lot of mobile points of sales close to each one great university campus in the world. BBs are professional devices...

[...] and what about future?! SmartphoneStory.com

This would be great!! Easy does it though...not too fast! here's hoping to a stores reaching North America, more specifically Canada!!

Posted via CB10

Please open up a Blackberry retail store in the Washington DC area! There's a huge govt market here and lots of hard core crackberry addicts too. My wallet would get a work out if one of these stores was close by!
BlackBerry by choice, BlackBerry for life!

Posted via CB10

BlackBerry could be big in America if they would make laptops and computers. I know it's a stretch but it would be nice to have a blackberry laptop and phone that could sync through some type of nfc technology

Posted via CB10

We walked down that road before. Honestly I think it's a stupid move by BlackBerry and a waste

Posted via CB10

Open them in the US so loyal customers don't have to put up with the same dumb sh*t with the employees of these retail stores.
