BlackBerry has continued their roll out of the BlackBerry Z3 and this time around, they have officially announced the device for Singapore. The device has been made available through BlackBerry's authorized carrier StarHub with pricing ranging from $179 to $0 depending on services chosen.

"We are excited to confirm that the BlackBerry Z3 smartphone is coming to Singapore. This device not only gives users more ways to connect, share and communicate, but it provides the best tool for secure, reliable communications and collaboration for businesses. Priced affordably, the BlackBerry Z3 will extend the full capabilities of the BlackBerry 10 Operating System version 10.2.1 experience for a new generation of customers in Singapore."

Having used the BlackBerry Z3 myself for a while now, I have to say for what it costs and what you get in return, it's a pretty fantastic device. You can check out the full BlackBerry Z3 review here if you've not yet read it and we have plenty of help and how-to guides on our BlackBerry Z3 topic page if you've picked one up and need to get started.

Press Release

BlackBerry Launches the BlackBerry® Z3 in Singapore

SINGAPORE – BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ: BBRY; TSX: BB), a global leader in mobile communications, today introduced the new BlackBerry® Z3 smartphone in Singapore. The BlackBerry Z3 will now available to customers through BlackBerry's authorized carrier, StarHub. For more information, please visit

The BlackBerry Z3 smartphone provides BlackBerry users more ways to connect and share, with an experience built on reliable, secure communications. BlackBerry Z3, will keep Singaporean users better connected and more productive with a 5" display, long lasting battery and the best typing experience on a touchscreen.

Key features include:

  • BlackBerry® Hub – The ever present BlackBerry Hub lets you access all your work and personal email, BBM™, text messages, social media updates and notifications in one place, with the ability to "peek" into the BlackBerry Hub from anywhere, so you're always only one swipe away from what matters to you. The Hub can be customized to identify priority messages and to filter the message list by various criteria that you can then activate with a simple pinch gesture.

  • BBM – BBM on the BlackBerry Z3 includes all the latest features of the popular mobile social network. You get BBM voice and video chatting with Screen Share and support for BlackBerry Natural Sound, letting you hear nuances and variations in tone in a BBM Voice chat, and making the conversation sound like you're in the same room. BBM Channels features a variety of Malaysian channels as well as a package of BBM stickers that have been specially designed by a local artist.

  • BlackBerry Keyboard – The BlackBerry Keyboard learns what words you use and how you use them, then offers them up to you so you can type faster and more accurately. It gives you the best typing experience on a touchscreen, complete with multi-language support that lets you type in up to 3 different languages at the same time.

  • Time Shift & Story Maker – The BlackBerry Z3's astonishing Time Shift camera feature lets you capture a group shot where everyone is smiling with their eyes wide open. You can also use Story Maker to bring a collection of photos and videos together, along with music and effects, to produce an HD movie that you can instantly share on YouTube.

  • BlackBerry 10 Browser – The BlackBerry 10 browser sets the industry benchmark for HTML5 performance on smartphones, and is incredibly fast, with fluid and responsive scrolling and zooming. The browser includes many advanced features, supports multiple tabs, lets you browse sites privately, includes a reader mode, and integrates with the platform for easily sharing content. You can even save web pages for later viewing.

  • Instant Previews & Reply Now – Be more timely and responsive with Instant Previews that bring BBM, SMS and email message to you no matter what you are doing on your BlackBerry Z3. You can even reply to your BBM or SMS messages in any app, or swipe to the BlackBerry Hub to respond. If you get a phone call that you can't answer right way, you can instantly silence the call and send a Reply Now response through BBM, SMS or email to let the caller know you're busy.

  • Fast, Easy Sharing – The BlackBerry Z3 learns how you share and who you share with, helping you reduce the number of steps and amount of time it takes to get your files, photos, or documents to where they need to go. Touching "share" in any app provides suggestions on who and how to share your files based on who you've shared with in the past, and the feature only gets smarter the more you use it.

  • FM Radio – The new BlackBerry Z3 includes a built-in FM radio. You can listen to local FM stations, which does not require any network connection.

Cameron Vernest, Managing Director of Singapore at BlackBerry said, "We are excited to confirm that the BlackBerry Z3 smartphone is coming to Singapore.

BlackBerry officially launches the BlackBerry Z3 in Singapore

Seriously....I was about to say that. How many seconds in a minute do they refresh their CB app to win these promo.

Now that you mention it, ever since these promo codes started - there seems to be an uptick in the number of comments posted on articles within the first few minutes lol.

Posted via the awesome power of BlackBerry 10 on one of my lovely devices probably my brand new Z30 or my great Q10 or my beautiful Z10

Reinforces that "pesky first behaviour", first to get to redeem and download... :-)

 BlackBerry? I premdict the future's gonna be chenomenal! 

Wow... I was about to reply with "Best first posting to date!" when i got a big red X saying "Please submit a more constructive comment :)"! That there is some serious "first" military style policing!

@danfrancisco... U can't start with First but if u incorporate it in a witty 1st comment ,that's to die for, and might give Quick a heart attact.HAHA .lol all depends on Who's on First as the saying goes...anyway Blaz1e I love the way you are stepping in Kev's shoes of past ,and spread the good BB vibe. You did us a favor when you took over, but I still love kevin and can't wait for him to get over his PSTD from his time in NYC about a year ago HAHA just joking but it must have been tough selling BB at that time .

$143 US? That's a GREAT PRICE!! So one must ask themselves what is with the $240-$275 US price seen elsewhere? This device was to be a sub $200 (US/CA) phone. Hopefully this is BBRY getting a handle on things and not just an anomoly.

That's what I saw too! Pricing is lower than recent talk about it has been. Should be good!

From my Neutrino Powered Z10

That seems like a good deal. Especially with 10.3 supposedly just around the corner. I hope it handles 10.3 more smoothly than the budget Android and Windows phone handle their OS.

Frosty White Q10S/

10.3 on the Z3 is AMAZING. They did a really good job in optimizing the software. For instance, with 10.3 the 3 is now capable to run 8 active frames simultaneously without any issue!!!
If you consider that 10.3 is not even designed for the Z3 (officially it will receive only 10.3.1) I am extremely optimistic that this phone will not only handle well the OS but will beat all the other Android devices with the same or better hardware

Since they had to admit that the Z10 tanked last year BlackBerry haven't said anything about the sales figures for any other model.

But you can make an educated guess from things like app developers who occasionally share how well their popular apps sell on each type of devices. The percentages speak volumes and show that the Q10 didn't sell any better than the Z10 unfortunately.

Singapore is the most expensive city in the world 2013/14, im sure of the success of Z3 there. Hope blackberry singapore does a good job in promoting it.

So is that expensive or cheap to you? It was launched at a higher price in other countries namely indonesia malaysia and india but that was a couple of months ago. Maybe they have ramped up production.

Posted via CB10

It's going to look much gloomy to BB in SG if they're not going to revise the selling price of SGD$288(USD$240 approx.) since they come in late with Z3... The newer generation of consumers is more concern of what a phone's hardware can offer, not much/rather on what Operating Systems can give...

I don't care about BlackBerry being or arrival in a new country. All I want to know is when will there be upgrade for the Z10/30. I hope these two don't go the direction of the PB

Posted via CB30

Well.. I think you SHOULD care. If the Z3 is not well received and does not sell well... it can really be a problem for the development and design of future BlackBerry phones.. it is still possible that BlackBerry cuts the entire phone department.. including the upgrade for the Z10/Z30.

This is a welcome news and I hope they will add more and more countries in the near future.

I agree with you, with a slight change. I think the development of the Z10/Z30 replacement depends more on how well the high end devices like the Passport and Classic do. Yes, lower end phones need to sell well too.

David, thank you but I still don't care. They can close shop after all we don't get our phone for free. We spent hard earned on them. Second, there are always many other phones out there than people can always purchase! No tear from me should BlackBerry close the door on their phone department!

Posted via CB30

And after BlackBerry closes you get to choose between Android, which has 85% market share and growing, Apple which is Apple and thus not an option or Windows and be as isolated as BlackBerry but without the quality, security well basically yellow phones with fat cameras.

BlackBerry goes, consumers loose. Period.

Z30 Vivo Brasil

Exactly right.

What a rather ignorant post up there ^

 BlackBerry? I premdict the future's gonna be chenomenal! 

This is quite possibly one of the most tasteless comments I have ever read. I'm not one to bash, but seriously?

Posted via CB10 Z30STA100-3/

Maybe @Tamashek is harsh but it is partly true & the truth hurts.
To most people BlackBerry is either dead or dying & despite producing class leading devices, sales are slow & the image remains tarnished.
Chen refuses to do any marketing........the Passport is being launched in a few weeks but yet there is no advertising so of course consumers will chose something else.
Can you blame them for not wanting to drop $$$ on a dead company???
I have always been a Blackberry supporter but after hoping with fingers & toes crossed that he does something to wake up this company, I am yet again disappointed.
It is inevitable that BlackBerry will cease to exist & I will definitely miss them but is obvious that they do not want to chang the way they do business.
Soon it will be time to chose between Apple or Android :(

Posted via CB10

To Q10 Nutter, there is not going to be marketing or campaign. The attitude of BlackBerry since Chen came aboard is "I am BlackBerry I don't need any marketing or campaign " and expecting people to just go buy them.

Posted via CB30

Um what? That's not at all how it's been, the attitude is that they're going to spend their money as wisely as possible, and marketing is too expensive for BlackBerry to go all in for it and have it be beneficial.

Posted via CB10

@Z10NZED.......are you for real???
Marketing is not spending money wisely????
What is the use of producing the best of anything if only 50 nerds with $50 in their account know about it???
If Chen would wake up & market BlackBerry devices properly then they could earn some serious market share. But he continues to remain ignorant to the fact that products (apple & samsung) that do marketing sell very well despite being less than optimal.
Until then for most people BlackBerry is a a non-entity & sometimes perception becomes reality.

Posted via CB10

Not an accurate comment. BlackBerry has been marketing the Z3 in its target markets.

From your comments, it looks like you want to stir the pot. Have fun but I'm not ordering from your menu. if this is true BlackBerry is marketing a Z3 with is less than $200. US in the target markets but yet most people I know in these countries were not aware of this even though they were in the market for a new phone
Then the Passport which is being launched in a few weeks which I am guessing would retail for $600.US is not even on the radar of the target demographic.

So I guess your idea of marketing & BlackBerry's idea of marketing is the same........but yet different to the idea of marketing of Samsung & apple ( which sells a few million phones despite being crappy devices)

Genius marketing strategy!!!

Posted via CB10

Whoa, whoa there. All I said was BlackBerry was marketing the Z3. There have been ads in India and Indonesia and probably elsewhere. I never made a subjective comment on the size or effectiveness of those campaigns. You are trying to evaluate them, not me. I have no idea how well they are working as I have no idea of BlackBerry sales until they release numbers at the end of next month.

You've personally reviewed the marketing plans with him on a monthly basis have you?

Gawd, the ignorance on these forums

Posted via CB10

$179. Singapore must have a lot less duty/ import tariffs then some of the other country's the z3 launched

Swordsmanship & Western Martial Arts Channel C000C9AF6

Don't get too excited. SGD$179 is subjected to 2yr contract tie in with monthly subscription that cost roughly about USD$15 per month or so... with barely limited talk time and sms volume. The "best" of all, the plan doesn't comes with any free data usage, even with smaller quotas. Once the subscriber terminates the contract before the expiry ends, way before 20mths completion, the subscriber will have to pay the penalty which can be as high as USD$200 to talk about!

To Nelson, from my time over there, they are mostly into Samsung and iPhone. Without campaign or marketing, it is not going to stand much of a chance. Just saying

Posted via CB30

To bbnews, I am here to follow up on these phones that I spent money on and I have a right to know and ask. The rest, I don't care. You can continue to be diehard BlackBerry but not all of us are

Posted via CB30

To All3n7, it's not BlackBerry fault for USA being it's the carriers. They always want to sell what they have in stock first before bringing new ones. Its greed and if you remember the case with T-Mobile encouraging people with BlackBerry to get iPhone, it's still the case with some carriers. The other thing, no marketing and sale people are clueless about BlackBerry. Many think BlackBerry is either out of business or dead

Posted via CB30

There goes another bullet in ass of android & ios's.

BlackBerry going good and steady :)

Be smart buy BlackBerry ;)

When I used to live in Singapore. Star Hub seems like the 3rd or the last among it's carrier. Biggest network there is Singtel then I think M1.

via Q10

The release of the Z3 came... too late. Way too late....
The market is now quite saturated with lots of other makes from either local companies or foreign makers, including China that offers better hardware specs than what Z3 offers now. Recent release from ZTE on their BLADE VEC 4G which is just SGD$11 away from the Z3 makes it a more easy choice for those after hardware specs with the attraction of 4G capability, better resolution screen, and not to miss, removable battery.
Blackberry diehards will go for Z3 most likely on their ease of navigation with the familiar UI, as well as the,..erhem...branding of BB being the ultimate Executives choice for communication gears. However when it comes to luring the present generation crowds... User Interface, Operating System could become a thing of the past. It's time to snap and shoot, photographing and gaming.

I am hoping that BB Singapore could revise the pricing soon on the Z3 which is just released. Let this price tag be allocated to Z3 with 4G capability which may(or not) release in the later dates... Good luck BB.SG!

Those supercheap Chinese phones are so so cheap... can work short term but one of those will never last

Posted via CB10

Don't be surprised. Yes... most of these Cheap chinese makes are mostly MTK SoC based. But with the growing number of supports from new makers, as well as user communities all around the world... Qualcomm should feel the tremors from the other side and be competitive in terms of what they can offer with pricing that makers can't resist to employ into their new products. Roughly 1.5yrs ago i bought a phone from an Indian maker, Karbonn, which comes with Broadcom SoC, made in China for the Indian company. Specs is pretty limited when compared to BB9860, even the only hardware that "surpasses" the 3.7inch screen from BB, still not so great. However, that phone is solid as a rock that it survives drops to hard tile surface numbers of times @ home as well office. No drops in battery power hold up even it had been more than 18mths old since acquisition. Is the "Chin-dian" phone that bad? No... It had beat it's limited warranty period, and i believe it can still do so.
By the way... where is Z3 assembled? Hmmm... ...

Bring it to North America. Or are they waiting for it to be a full year out of date before we can get it????? Ridiculous.

BlackBerry Z3 is awesome! It's baby Z30...great value for money. I've used Z10, Q10, Z30, and now Z3. Believe me it's money well spent. And now with 10.3, the battery life is dramatically improved! Good job, BlackBerry!

Posted via CB10

At first I changed from Z30 to LG G2 due to its thin bezel, but then I feel that the OS is nothing compared to BB10. Then I switched back to BlackBerry and wanted to taste something different. Fortunately it was a right choice :)

Posted via CB10

I'd like to see it come to the US. I can see getting one for my 14 yr old son.

Having said that, I don't know if there are enough people like me to make it worth their while in the US.

I just found out that Axiom, Saudi Arabia's official BlackBerry distributor is selling the Z3!

The bad news is that I have not seen a single sign/board mentioning anything about the Z3. The good news is that the price is fantastic, at only $214 for an outright purchase!

BlackBerry  is not the most popular brand here but... too late for my family we already bought one from Indonesia ;p

Posted via CB10

It concerns me to see anything but the states picking up blackberry phones. I know that one day they will make the phone that pulls me back but if they don't sell here then I won't be able to get it.

I know that the z3 wasn't made for the states but it's been so long since I've seen a new one that it leaves me concerned.

Posted via my sexy Note 3. Big hands ;-)

Rumor has it that the Z3 is coming to the states. With a spec bump and 4G. Patience my brothers and sisters! Oh and it may or may not be called the Z20. Once again rumor has it.

After using the device for 2 months what can I say, I'm very much happy with my decision. Now 2 days back updated my Z3 with latest beta os for developers, believe me blackberry is working hard to make the os best. Many changes which was much needed and the new voice recognition software BlackBerry Assistant is awesome responds really well for all the commands, so totally I hope blackberry will enter the league and start competing with the rivals and will surely end up becoming No 1 as before, Of course more excited for the new device BlackBerry passport :) Hoping for the best pricing from new ceo John chen :)

Posted via CB10

Put urself in the BB marketing folks shoes. The market is now filled with competitions from much lower priced makes with slightly better features and specs, and consumers attitudes and preference towards what a phone's hardware can offer... would you spend multiple digit dollars to advertise your Z3 in such a market which may yield... less attentions? What kind of response would you expect? Yay? or Bah!? Wouldn't it be much economical to market your Z3 through social media?
Ooops... where's the facebook/twitter/any other social channels of BlackBerry Singapore?

Hopefully, Z3 will come to Vietnam. I'm currently in Vietnam and bought a sim card for myself. The owner of the shop played with my Z10 and completely head over heel. He is extremely unhappy with his Nokia 5xx series. BlackBerry was selling the -2 variant in Vietnam but stopped around two months ago.

Using Z10, wanting Z30, eyeing Windermere

Some of the pricing options are grrreat.

Posted via CrackBerry 10 (CB10) application using my BlackBerry Q10.

Blackberry hasn't been doing well in singapore. We only have 3 carriers and only 1 is carrying it, hopefully for the classic and passport all 3 would have them. The service center here doesn't even carry all the latest models for hands on. Marketing here is non existent, and all my friends are utterly convinced BlackBerry is dead. Also, given that we are not as security conscious as the US, majority of users are on whatsapp for convenience sake. Still, I hope to get one of the new devices later in the year!

Posted via CB10

BlackBerry is now very much dependent on corporate usage, which is now shrinking. And the days ahead for BlackBerry could be gloomy if they don't do some pricing strategy in additions to the telcos expensive charges. Z3 could be an answer for the moment, but the brightness light of sales is gloomy, for the various companies will be fed with wide choices from either Android or Windows camp. Not to forget, Apple is slowly invading the corporate environments.

Love to see the Z3 continuing to be launched throughout emerging markets. Would like to see an upgraded version with specs that exceed the Z10, but at a price lower than the Z30 for North America. With 10.3, that device would rock!

Posted via CB10

I showed an IT guy my Z10 today and he said, "BlackBerry is still around?" I reminded him about BES to which he responded, "exchange is way easier to use. BES is the most difficult to configure." he also showed me a pretty nice hub-like feature on the Samsung note.
But to stay on topic I really wish they'd make the Z3 available on AT&T in the USA.

BPWiebe on the super smooth Z10.

Sorry to say, but it's the most stupid device. A Z 11 or 12 would have been better. And more over its bloody hell made in china. Haha. Mexico and Hungry stock rules for BlackBerry.

Posted via CB10 from P'9982.

They're selling it cheap here because the telcos believe cheaper phones would be able to sell more

Encrypted on my Z10

Will be a hard sell here in Singapore. The phone users are not price sensitive and rather savy. Samsung and apple still reign.

Adding more difficulties to the sale of the Z3 in Singapore market, the growing numbers of interests in lower price Chinese makes with higher hardware specs than BB do. Just look at how XiaoMi, OPPO, and the latest One Plus will tell you how the price on Z3 will affect it's own sales. And ever since the announcement on Monday till now... no other retailers are selling Z3 except StarHub, the one and only telco in SG that carries the stocks.

it' s an amazing device and faster than moto g which is almost same price, the phone is performing great , i've been using it more than a month and the only bad thing about z3 I cant deal with is the screen resolution...
