BlackBerry in New Novel is Central to the Plot!

By Kevin Michaluk on 3 Sep 2008 10:42 am EDT

IQ The Series I received an email yesterday from Roland Smith, American author of young adult fiction, letting me know about his latest series, called IQ. A long time BlackBerry user and member of, it should be no surprise then that the novel features a BlackBerry and that it plays a central role in the plot!

Roland tells me the BlackBerry used in the book is a bit "souped up... the BB we all want to be carrying in our pocket one day." RIM...if you're reading... pick up a few copies of part I, entitled Independence Hall, to pass around the office for ideas and get Crack'n!

For more information (and to check out the nice BlackBerry Bold worked into the book's website), visit You can get more info on Roland at as well. Best of luck with the new series Roland!

I'm interested in hearing about this BlackBerry but I'm confused to what this book is about. Maybe I should pick it up and read it.
