BlackBerry Messenger bumped up to version 6.1.0.70, fixes group updates and map issues
We know you are all busy downloading, installing and playing around with the many great features of PlayBook OS 2 today, but don't forget about your beloved BlackBerry Smartphone. BlackBerry Messenger has been updated today as well to version 6.1.0.70, and while the update is only a small one, it is one that addresses two issues that many users were experiencing. They have fixed the issue in group update section where you would not be notified by the iconic red star and also fixed is the ability to open locations that you sent or recieved on BlackBerry Maps. The update is small, but one that you will definitely want to make a few minutes to install today -- and you can do so easily by hitting the link below.

Hmm, doesn't seem to be an upgrade waiting for my BB9900
Got to do something whilst waiting for my PB to sync (eg reinstalling 50Gb of files) after the OS/2 upgrade
Frustrated that still no UMA on BB9900.... Orange in the UK

Do a My World reset; hold Alt and type R,S,T. It will kick out of Appworld. Next time you go to MyWorld it should register the update available.

Many thanks - forgot about the Alt-ReSeT...
Installing as I type....
Only issue now - still cannot find a scrabble app on AppWorld...

ugh another release with BS fixes. how about the scroll issue? do RIM engineers even use blackberries anymore, or have they switched to iphones, too?
ph03n1x Feb 21, 2012 at 12:31 pm
Actually it does fix it it twitches a little but much better than before
kazn3r Feb 21, 2012 at 11:56 am
...I mean how can anyone even have a BBM group anymore. I have 30 contacts, down from 146 -- 6 months ago. Nice, BB, nice.
pmccartney Feb 21, 2012 at 12:05 pm
Seems like it may be time for you to move on and join your 116 other friends that did so. It's just not worth the frustration. Try something else.
I will stick with BB. It still does more than I need and my BBM Contacts list is growing.
kazn3r Feb 21, 2012 at 12:08 pm
i don't need to switch to iPhone, there's nothing wrong with how my bb works, it's just funny the way they release "fixes" that never really fix much
datta72 Feb 21, 2012 at 12:37 pm
speak for yourself. I still have 6 groups going and over 100 bbm contacts. The group update is worth it to me
ph03n1x Feb 21, 2012 at 12:40 pm
Maybe u can confirm for me then is the groups better? Less lag a slight twitching occasionally?
sk8er_tor Feb 21, 2012 at 2:15 pm
Perhaps your BBM contacts just deleted you from their BBM. I find your numbers hard to believe.

Anyone experience the issue whereby you reboot the phone and it resends old boradcast messages as old broadcast messages as new messages to your contacts?
I have seen it occur with me repeatedly and a few others I know.
khaber Feb 22, 2012 at 7:17 am
Yes it happened to me and me friends.. I think it a bug.

If the update isn't showing up in app world, you can also go the the blackberry website from your mobile browser & get the download link from there...
