If you're not already running this version of BlackBerry Maps, which was included with the BlackBerry 10.2.0.1323 leak, then you should be able to open up BlackBerry World and find v10.1.0.805 readily available for download. It seems this release is a small but important one as the change log notes it is for stability and performance improvements as well as covering some bugs when the app is upgraded.

Sounds to me like fixes in preparation for further OS updates but that's just a wild guess more than anything else. Thus far, some folks seem to be having some issues with the app crashing on launch but in any case, the update is live so grab it if you don't want to hold off and see if another update is sent out. If you've already updated, let us know in the comments how it all worked out for you.

anyways confirmed, restart your device maps will work

Posted via CB10

It won't open! Shutdown automatically. Read reviews on BlackBerry world too late.

Same here. My wife and I both AT&T Q10s. Hers worked just fine without reboot. Mine is still crashing.

Posted via CB10

Haye to admit this but I don't even use this native app and rather go with BlackBerry Map Pro 10

Posted with my Z10

Still annoyed with the map software. BlackBerry has a long way to go to make the ui user friendly and simple. But it didn't crash and it gets one house closer in locating my exact home. Yay I suppose hah

Posted via CB10

Running the latest 10.2 leak. Had no idea it came with the upgraded maps app. Seems to work just as crappy as it always has. BeMaps is 10x more accurate and faster in locating and I use Mireo for navigation.

Still, goods to see an update.

Posted via Zeppelin or Quincy!

Be maps is 10x more accurate and faster?

Not sure how that can be, when I open blackberry maps I get an instant fix on my location, even indoors, within a few feet. And the map is loaded in 2 seconds after launch. Never seen gps this fast before.

Posted via CB10

Come on crackpots. It won't open any more. Please research this stuff before you put it out. Simple really?

Posted via CB10

Exactly. I updated a few hours ago, and just read the article. Now I'm screwed. I hope they fix this before Saturday because I need it for a trip.

Typical BlackBerry. So damn frustrating. Test your s#it before releasing it...

Posted using my Z10... soon to be Android or Apple

Updated 2 Z10's and all good. Seems to run a bit faster and smoother.

Posted via Z10 and CB10 on Rogers

Crashes on my Z10. Even the home screen icon disappeared . Can only launch from BBworld but it crashes. On official T-Mobile release 10.1.0.2006.

Posted via CB10

I'm on Tmobile too. The funny is after the app upgraded and installed on my Z, the old version is still there.

Post via CB Z10

Esa actualización nueva ni sirve. La aplicación se cierra sola, incluso antes de abrirse.

Posted via CB10

Did the same with my adobe reader, after the update it did not work already good Job! Hope more devs will release bug updates so that most of the native will not work anymore

Posted via CB10

Yep doesn't work on the Q10. Never use it so had nothing to loose. Now definitely won't use because it crashes when open.

Posted via CB10

Ok, I misread the part about it not opening for some meaning. I thought that the existing maps app wasn't opening for some people, and so that is why there is an update. I hope there is an update for the update soon.

Posted via CB10

I've never had any problems with BlackBerry maps just used it this morning, no issues, I haven't got lost lol, why all the hate. FYI update went smooth and works fine after, on Telus in Vancouver

Posted via CB10

Why does this app never get new features only small updates. What are they paying the company developing it for???

Crashes on me as well. Z10 Verizon 10.1.0.2039. Bummer now I have no map software. It is a good thing I know where I am going.

Posted via CB10

Yes. I've used this in the past (worked fine) just glad I'm not traveling if I was this would be the last straw I would literally run over the phone with my car and get and S4.

crashes. once the app is clicked, it crashes and it's not open. on the latest T Mobile official build

I was using BlackBerry maps in Vancouver yesterday, trying to get from the north Shore to Richmond, it was so slow to update, I kept missing turns. I got annoyed and turned it off, the got completely lost and went over the new Port Mann Bridge. Twice. In opposite directions.

Posted via CB10

Crashes. I think I'm going to leave BlackBerry when BlackBerry Messenger goes across platforms. The disappointments keep coming...I left android years back for BlackBerry. I think I'm going back.

Posted via CB10

Same issue that many others are complaining about. Maps instantly crashes when opening. Tried the restart and battery pull...

gggrrrrrrrr

Posted via CB10 from my Z10

downloaded it, seems to work fine................ nevermind it won't even lauch, keeps crashing, I have the latest t-mobile update, z10

I just updated... installed ok... but will not open... wow... what a great update BlackBerry... keep up the great work... update everything so nothing works and we have a great, expensive paper weight...
Waiting for other similar great updates and performance upgrades from BlackBerry...

Posted via CB10

Stability and performance improvements? The old version was fine now I can't even open it! How did this get past any sort of QA, or did they lay off that group? :(

Posted via CB10

Crashed on launch, tried it multiple times still not working. Needs update again I guess.

Posted via CB10 on T-Mobile USA

Crashed on tmobile z10 10.1. Pretty pathetic. Can't even delete the f ing thing.

Posted via CB10

Works on My Telus z10. Hope it fixes the white screen blue dot I got on Vancouver Island a few weeks a go. Had to delete and reinstall.

Posted via Z10

From the comments it seems to be a problem for people who haven't received the MR update yet. Yet another BlackBerry update problem the more that changes the more it stays the same in Waterloo.

Posted via CB10

The evidence says (some of) the carriers are holding back the updates. Waterloo looks like its sending them out right. Switching carriers would be a good idea for BB owners who's carriers are not delivering on the updates.

I just did this upgrade and now bb maps won't even open! Just flashes and closes instantly :/

Posted via Z10 on CB10

It seems most of the crashes reported on this forum are BlackBerry 10s on USA carriers. I'm on Bell Mobility and my update was smooth as butter. Btw the map is fairly good...no complaints.

It was working fine. Updated and now it won't even open like so many others. Q10 on T-Mobile. I mean, really. Disappointing.

BlackBerry screwed up again. The app is crashing immediately on my VZW Z10. Unbelievable, but not really.

Posted via CB10

App no good: now my native maps will not load at all so I got nuthin'. And the BBWorld app no longer loads. BAD stuff! Don't download!

Crashed and what's so bad I use it daily at work so now I'm sh*t out of luck. Things like this makes me wonder at time why I'm so loyal to a company that obviously doesn't give a damn.

Posted via CB10

Came with my 10.2 leak and works fine on my Z10, as does Google Maps 7.2. I dunno why peeps harp on about how crappy BlackBerry Maps is. It's my go to for navigation. Just wish the voice was louder, or worked through my car stereo.

Posted via CB10

Just updated my Z10 on Telus official OS 10.1.0.4181.

All's good! Notice it to be faster. Never really had issues since day one back in Feb when I first got my Z. I work part time as a catering driver and BlackBerry Maps hasn't let me down here in the GVA (greater Vancouver area) :)

via CB10 (Z10 on Telusmobility)

It crashed immediately after this new update. Can't use my map now because it won't open. What kind of update is this??!

Posted via CB10

What a lousy update! Now the program won't even work. I am selling my blackberry and going back to windows! Blackberry has done an excellent job convincing me they are dead in the water and not interested in remaining in the smartphone business.

Mine crashes on run, stl100-1 os 10.1.0.273, someone running the same that works or solved it?

Posted via CB10

Like others, updated BlackBerry Maps and now it doesn't work. I hope BlackBerry resolves this soon.

Posted via CB10

Works for me, once Rogers in Canada. Performance is way better than before.
SW release 10.1.0.4181.

Posted via CB10

Instantly crashes on my VZW Q10. Is restoring a backup the only way to get the old version back?

Crashed on me. Reported it blackberry forums and tried to re download with Web link. I got nothing. Then while browsing Facebook BBMAPS suddenly started downloading and installing again. WTH?

Posted via CB10

Works for me and i have to say that it is very fast and accurate on my Z10. Grait update!

Posted via CB10

Looks like it's crashing for most US carriers.
Updated and works fine. Feels smoother too!

Posted via Z10 STL100-3 using CB10. Fido, Toronto.

For all the people that have problems with it crashing, what is are you using and did you change the runtime.

I'm asking because I installed the newest os and maps worked great, then installed 810 run time to get better compatability with Android apps, then maps no longer works. Reflashed the newest os, and side loaded apps, did not change runtime and it all works great.

Posted via CB10

I seem to have version 10.2.0.246. Must have come with the 10.2.0.1047 OS leak. Seems to be a big improvement over the version I had before installing the leak. Those having problems with the current update might want to consider installing the 10.2.0.1047 OS leak.

Posted via CB10

I just updated my BlackBerry Maps and it does not load, tried restart and shutdown same results. Mine is SQN100-3 OS Version: 10.1.0.2309.

I hope there would be another update for the fix.

Posted via My BlackBerry Q10 - Powered by Globe Telecom Philippines

Wth.. should they not test this before pushing this out to customers???? Common sense 101

Posted via CB10

F@$k you Thorsten! You can't do anything right. Bricked my app entirely. No company screwed up maps this bad ever. A new low for BlackBerry. Why tf am i loyal?

Posted via CB10

No company has screwed up the map app this bad? LOL...really? So quickly everyone forgets the disaster known as Apple Maps.

Posted via CB10

For the OS on T-Mobile, this new update doesn't work. And i can't seem to be able to go back to older version..

Posted via CB10

Works perfect for me, not sure how ppl have issues with this and not sure how much more user friendly it can be. You just open the app, type address or search term, and it finds the place, click the arrow and you get directions, click arrow again and you get turn by turn.

I wish it had satellite view though.

Posted via CB10

Guess i should add I'm using Q10 on Rogers, no leaked OS, just leaked alarm clock bar installed to get multiple alarms

Posted via CB10

I got the notification and just upgraded without checking the feedback or CrackBerry (as I've rarely had issues with app updates) and now of course my BlackBerry Map application doesn't work. The worst part is I can't even delete the damn thing so I can try reinstalling it. Oh well, I use a sideloaded version of Google Maps more frequently as it is more accurate and is easier to use. Regardless, it doesn't look good for BBRY when they push out a bunk update to a native app.

Posted via CB10

I updated based on the update notification. Now it crashes on startup. Reboot doesn't fix it.

Thanks for the upgrade.

Z10STL100-3/10.1.0.2074

Posted via CB10

I also have to laugh at the blatant one-sided "journalism" of CB. "Some users are reporting crashing after upgrading, but go ahead and go for it." Some users? LOL. Thanks for the advice.

Posted via CB10

Oh, and I reported in another thread, but I laugh that BlackBerry has suspended to ability to post reviews of this bunked update on BlackBerry World.

Posted via CB10

Just upgraded. Still have the same issue faced before update. Can't change the language on the maps (they're Arabic, i live in Dubai). When you zoom in, the arabic lettering is messed up and street names are unreadable.

Updated......and it works. no problems. Rogers Ontario on recent MR OS. Dunno if I have the "Golden Child" of phones or what. No Reboots, no problems, just solid BlackBerry service. Waiting on 10.2 and a Citrix app.

Posted via CB10

Same for me on Bell no issues. This maps problem doesn't seem to be affecting Canadians. (from the post I read)

Posted via CB10

I don't know but mine works fine, before and after the upgrade. I find it that the operation becomes more responsive and it no longer lags and moves around on it's own like it used to

Posted via CB10

Updated. Crashes. Restarted. Crashes. Battery pull. Waits an extra second, crashes. Please fix this soon, this is embarrassing.

Posted via CB10

I'm having the same problems on Verizon. Just crashes when I try to open it.

Posted while peeking and flowing on my incredible BBQ10!

Just thought I'd add that I read the reviews before updating but took the gamble anyways. Good thing I have BMaps 10! I can live without turn by turn until they get this sorted.

Posted while peeking and flowing on my incredible BBQ10!

I have been pleasantly surprised by the BlackBerry maps app. Love the turn by turn gps with street names and realtime traffic updates

Posted via CB10

Lousy. Maps crashes on launch even after rebooting twice. Has to be some to back this out.

Posted via CB10

Upgraded and now I screwed. Won't run. Great job blackberry. Great job. I hope some dumbass gets fired for this.

Posted via CB10

I guess like every one else, I received the update notification and trusted I would work. Haha hahaha....
It doesn't even open!!!!
Wow! I guess this puts blackberry at par with Apple when they had problems with their map app. If you can't beat them, join them

Posted via CB10

Is there a way to get rid of this leaked version and get back what I had?

Posted via CB10

Doesn't work on my Q10 on Verizon. Glad I'm not traveling in the next couple of days I'd really be lost.

Posted via CB10

Confirming: updated on stock Q10 from Verizon (10.1.0.2011). Crashes upon opening after updating. Reboots do not change the situation. Ugh!!

Posted via CB10 on my Q10

Just Great BlackBerry. You turned my nearly worthless device and the only working item worth a hogs poop into another item that you click and with a flash of brilliance it crashes and burns and vanishes just as fast as it started to appear. This is Blackberrys KEEP MOVING! Yep, BB is super fast, that is super fast and crashing a perfectly fine app. Yah, im on ATT with the latest version, you would think with all that testing you did with the OS that you would have known the behavior of your own items, and you wonder why a developer thinks twice about making an BB10 App. Blackberry cant even make working apps for their own OS, anyone remember BB Travel with all of its problems.

Can't even download new update, guess developers caught on to the fact that it doesn't even work after upgrading. Lots of bad reviews keep pouring in about how horrible the new upgrade is. Guys they will fix this, give them some time and be patient. Glad I was not able to download, however, they better fix this fast......

Posted via CB10

Lol performance and stability update.

Nice One BlackBerry as the app will not open now, just shuts down once you tap on the icon to try an open it up.

Crashing as if it's not compatible with the OS.

Posted via CB10

Quality control anyone? I'm recommending a root cause analysis in Waterloo. This is just unreal. An app that I liked and worked well now is completely unstable!

Posted via CB10

Though not that useful here in India.. but utterly useless after the update.. kept crashing again and again when open..

Hope Google Maps do come soon for Z10..

Posted via CB10

Mine didn't crash on app startup...
Didn't the maps on previous legacy devices show the speed you were going when driving? I don't remember seeing that in this version??

Posted via CB10

Seems like BlackBerry still has adequate QA team. I'm working on the upgrade of 2 Q10. On both I had trigger the Upgrade button several times before the device (or AppWorld) recognizes it.

Posted via CB10

Loved the Map app before. Now my Verizon Z10 won't open like most of us here. Let's see how fast the wiz kids at HQ can fix this one????

It only works on 10.1 MR and upward. Upgrade to 10.1. MR to solve the crash

Posted via CB10

Unofficial to your carrier I suppose ;)...., while any other carrier already at minimum 10.1.0.4633 (min. MR)

Posted via CB10

Looks like only Canadian aide is working as I read through the post...would this assumption correct..:-)

From my Z10

Works on my Q10, I have the SQN100-5 running OS 10.1.0.273. Purchased on tmo usa but using Vodafone CZ but updated and currently roaming on T Mobile in Croatia.

Posted via CB10

Z10 Verizon crashes when I try to load it worked great before so not sure how thats more stable but i'm sure they will fix it

You all talk about bad reviews... I don't see any of them right now.. why? x)

Posted via CB10

I'm running 10.2 on Q10 (Telus).
BB maps runs flawlessly. Used it to navigate to 8 addresses in the last 3 days.

Crap! Just crashes. :( And I actually like BlackBerry Maps. I hope they get it fixed soon.

Posted via CB10

Anyone out there from Germany O2 who updated Maps? Any issues?

Z10STL100-2/10.1.0.4633 Germany

So either they didn't test it properly or couldn't be bothered - both unforgivable.

If a story like this got into the general media at a time like this think what it would do to the firesale value of the company. Apple could weather the storm re: maps at the time but BBY.

As a long time BB user this is getting worse and worse - Business tool? my 9800 was more use than my Q10 with Later Dude, Call logging, DECENT COPY AND PASTE! I give up...
