It has been a few months since we've seen an update for BlackBerry Link, and today Windows users get a shiny new version (sorry, no Mac love today). We're not totally sure just what's new in this one, but you can expect some minor tweaks and fixes to keep things running decent. It doesn't look like there are any big overhauls this time around, but it's always good to keep things up to date.

So if you're a Windows user, you can head to the link below to grab this one. Be sure to drop a comment if you spot anything fun!

BlackBerry Link v1.2.3.22 for Windows now available

I Still can't upgrade or uninstall LINK on my PC (Win 7)!!!! I know i'm not the only one with this ridiculous/unacceptable problem. BB needs to address this and give us a work around at least to get this fixed or updated.

I'm running Windows 7 no problem with Link. Try installing, with your anti-virus on pause, or closed.

What errors are u receiving?

Posted via CB using my Q10

When almost finishing the install process, i get:
"Error 1316: A Network Error Occurred while attempting to read from the file C:windows/installer/BlackBerry link.MSI"
I disabled Avast for 10 mins to try this again and this message happened. Then it rolls back and i have to cancel the install.... :(

Did you disable all shields???
And i meant right click the file and run as administrator...even though your an administrator :P

My problem was with my firewall. Wouldn't let the installer install drivers necessary to recognize the phone. Once the firewall was temp disabled and installation finished Link worked fine.

Z10... next Ontario!

Having install and run problems since after first week of February 2013. Tried sending logs to BlackBerry beta team etc. No dice. Running windows 7 pc too. Done everything everyone says, won't run.

I know it doesn't really have to do anything with link, but hopefully along with this update, VZW users also get a shiny new 10.2.1 update.

Posted via CB10

You can check for it in the new Link. Apparently there was something on the Verizon for some users today...

Some did not get an OTA offer, but saw the Update offer when connecting their phones. Good luck.

iPhone for me? Scr... ahem Q that! (posted from the latter)

You guys must have a Q10 or Z30 because I received an OTA update on first day 10.2.1 was released. I guess only Z10 received it.

Would you like some cheese..... to go with that whine?

Let's face it, complaining about it here won't do you any good. How about doing something proactive like starting a thread to petition your carrier to issue the update, complaining to your carrier, or going to the FCC about it?

Posted via CB10

I'm on Verizon and I got the update the day of like everyone else.

The one thing Link is missing is auto updating. If it wasn't for crack berry, I wouldn't know about these updates

Posted via CB10

Mine isn't showing an available update. I have V 1.2.2.13.

I don't even think there is an UPDATE function on this poor excuse for software application.

Tombstone - Combat Vets Motorcycle Assn - WWW.CVMAFLORIDA.ORG

That's good news for me,I had major problems with BB Link last week ,Rim Tunnel Service, checked out CB forums and got the thing deleted, but always wanted BB Link back.I had a flashing box in the upper left corner of my desktop, very annoying,I used my time shift camera on my Z10 to identify it and got lucky when I snapped after several tries, the flash was so fast you could not see what it was. It's been a week now and I guess with this update I'll give it a second chance.

Adam, can you give SuperTube a bump for updating the app to support full screen mode for Q10/Q5 users? I Iiterally asked the developer (Marco) days ago to include it and he implemented the update FAST! He deserves a mention. Let's show him how we do things here (Google would NEVER highlight a developer) and that he is playing for the right team.

I used my Q10 to create this CrackBerry madness!

This is the fly in the ointment for the BlackBerry revival.

The BlackBerry Link needs to be better than the OS7 version.

How will you get more people to BB10 from OS7 if there is malfunctioning Link

I downloaded vers 1.2.3.23. I noticed one thing different. The synchronization with my z10 looks different. Instead of a tiny bar on the bottom right corner of the screen, it is now a big bar across the middle of the home screen on my phone tab that fills up and changes color based on what it's downloading (eg music, photos, videos, and docs).

Posted via CB10

The Bar also tells you how much space each category is taking up and how much free space you have left.

Posted via CB10

Oops, that bar is not for synchronization but shows a ratio of how much space is being used and free space.

Dear BlackBerry,

Please scrap Link and rebuild it so it runs as smoothly as Desktop Manager did.

Sincerely,

The Legion of BlackBerry faithful.

Sorry Glen. A chromebook is nothing more than a glorified web browser. You'll need a true PC (Windows or Mac) to install Link.

Appears to be just cosmetic change. Can not sync the MS Outlook calendar or contacts. Fails to write to device. Happen on both my Z10 and Z30 running 10.2.1.537. If can't write software that can not write to your own devices, you are in trouble.

I can get it to sync all my calendar/contacts/tasks data between MS Outlook on my PC and my Z10...however, Link does not let me control if and when that data is deleted. Very frustrating. It's my data, so I should be able to control it, not let the control by set by what BlackBerry has decided is appropriate. Other than that it works quite well now.

I sync with Outlook successfully every week and it works perfectly. As for deleting data, I assume you have the option checked to warn you if any data will be deleted? I tested it and that feature works as it should. It shows up when I delete a contact from Outlook because I've set my phone as the dominate device. Everyone complains about Link and I think it's fine. My only beef is the inability to selectively backup and restore specific data.

Posted via CB10

BB Link worked fine with the lower versions BB 10, just doesn't work with 10.2.1.537. What version are you running?

Hi all, I've got v. 1.2.3.23 as well and can't sync. The sync tab works but none'of the buttons do on that page. The 2 columns ACTIONS and SETTINGS are there but there are only the grayed/ghosted out non-functional buttons CONFIGURE and RESET SETTINGS but the ACTIONS column has nothing. I noticed that every1 here has win 7 and i'm on win 8.1 and wondered if this might be the problem because the other Z10 in the house was running 10.1 while i was running 10.2.1.2141 and both couldn't be synced!

I've got v1.2.2.13. I don't want to switch 'auto update' on... so how do I manually update BBL (on W7) to the latest version? I can't see any way to do it, other than automatically...

Posted via CB10 on my Z10.2.0

just updated Link, when i try to sing in with BB id im getting a error saying i have cookies disabled in my browser. any ideas???

Incredible. BlackBerry Link is still a BlackBerry (Black Box). How come they don't explain what's new. And still doesn't sync tasks and notes. Come on BlackBerry you should do better than that.

Posted via CB10

I gave up on the idea they will ever bring outlook sync with notes and tasks. I'd be just very happy if what there is now would actually work :(

Man, I am really liking the constant updates across link, the OS, and the barrage of apps that BlackBerry is pounding out.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there is no other mobile platform that is as furious of pace; all things said.

Well, it does not appear to fix the problem with not being able to use Remote File Access through a corporate firewall. From the remote file access screen in link "... as long as your computer is connected to the internet."

Come BlackBerry fix this!

Posted via CB10

Don't you think that perhaps the lock down of data through a corporate firewall is on purpose? If I was a business owner I wouldn't want this to happen unless I allowed it. Isn't that what BES is for?

Posted via CB10

Hopefully this update finally surrenders control to me of MY PIM data on MY phone. Frustrating to sync my (non MS Exchange) Outlook data and have Link delete it, not letting me decide if and when it should be deleted. Mine, all mine. Somebody at BlackBerry, please change this.

Well I just dl and installed new link. I now have a bar on home screen that shows my sd card usage and storage, nothing for the internal storage. Then I goto sync and this version will not let me sync over wifi. Don't like it. Probably going to uninstall and go back to the previous version.

Posted via CB10

Not sure how ppl have so many problems with link, i have now installed on 4 different computers, windows xp (has some lag), windows 7, windows 8 and windows 8.1, and it's been pretty smooth install every time, RFA works great. I have noticed that sometimes it takes a while for it to connect to a device via usb. When i installed on windows 7 i did have to manually update the bluetooth driver but that was a year ago so I'm assuming they fixed that with one of the updates that came out since then.

Posted via CB10

Dammit, just downloaded the Link update, and error message " error reading setup initialization file "

Let's start again........

Catapulted from my Z10.

Tried to install twice. This version is causing my screen to crash with the blue screen and restart. I am running Windows 8.1

Posted via CB10

This is one of the most "mysterious" application for me.
Works fine on my laptop.
Crashed on my desktop couple of months ago and any new installation attempt ends up in BSOD.

I have VZW and have the 10.2.1 update and BlackBerry Link updates itself when I sync or just turn it on and I'm running Windows 7 and have not had any problems

Posted via CB10

What's the power inside Link that my whole system slows every time I use it?...(especially starting and closing, a plug my Q10, then go pour myself an espresso, come back, then go again to the fridge for milk, and come back again and Link is still choking...)

If one thing doesnt do BlackBerry any credit it's Link.

 Q1o

Error message driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (ndis.sys) keeps coming up and restarts my PC

Posted via CB10

The previous version of link gave me problems with media synchronization. nothing worked to fix my problem. So my only option, reinstall windows. And the first program I installed after I freshly installed Windows was link. Now link works 100% for me. Maybe you too need to consider this option.

Posted via CB10

All of the previous Link versions i have tried to update have installed but the Z10 will not connect.I cured this by downloading the new update then uninstalled the previous version.Run C Cleaner to clear the registry of the previous reg files and run C Cleaner to clear out temp files etc.I then installed the new update and the Z10 connected. Everytime i have tried to install over the top of the earlier version i have had problems with Z10 connecting, but the above works. So when the next update comes i'll just uninstall the previous version first.
The DM from OS 6 was far better/easier none of this mucking about.

I hot a sync error when trying to sync my outlook calendar. The prev version of link worked fine...but with this version I get an error indicating that the sync was unsuccessful. When I click on the details, it states 'unable to commit data to device'. I have 10.2.1, and am running this new version of link on a Win 7 comp. As mentioned, the prev version of Link used to sync with out any errors.

@Adam - the release notes only say:
New in this release
• General performance improvements
A whole lot of information as usual. :-)

Fir those with sync problems.
1. Set your sync properties as one way from pc to phone
2. Delete your link account from the phone.
3. Connect phone to pc
4. Manually perform one way sync.
5. Set the sync as two way but on contacts set warn me on conflicts and on calendar do not sync conflicts
6. Perform 2 way sync
7. If it is successful, set on both: on conflict pc wins.
8. Perform 2 way sync.

End

I have new BBZ30, I downloaded v1.2.3.23 on my laptop. Will not sync Contacts or Calendar from my phone to Outlook on my laptop, one contact only goes over to Outlook.
Last week I had earlier version on Desktop synced okay now will not sync from Desktop to phone.
Very frustrating. Where do I delete link account on phone?
(but hey- I have music!)
Help.

Last step: Ask Mr Chen to fire more people., this time from BB Link department.

Never have had issues with Link, though occasionally the LAN wireless sync doesn't connect. Otherwise no issues with installs or updates on Win 7 Pro.

Posted via CB 10 on my Z30 w 10.2.1.1925

I have windows 8 on my laptop and the blackberry link never installs at all. It says keeps failing and re boots my computer. :(

Posted via CB10

I am getting the same error as psparks - it gets right to the end of the install process and blue screens with the error message. I have even tried with the unsigned drivers element turned off - still no good. Using Windows 8.1 x64 - annoyingly the previous version was fine but I have now deleted the install package.

Posted via CB10

After a download trying to install it's give error on unzipping I tried several time download but same error every time any 1 can guide me what's going on

Posted via CB10

I installed version 1.2.3.23 on my laptop running windows 7 not sure why it's one number higher. Don't really notice any differences in this update.

Questions...

Does it work with Windows 8.1?

Has BB finally created an install package that won't red flag virus scanners, etc.?

If BB wants to be an enterprise play, they need more seamless Windows support.

The Link recognizes my Q10 but will not allow to backup or anything else because of WIFI; when I turn everything off and use the USB it won't recognize it and nothing happens. I'm running the OS the "Q" came with 10.1 and patiently (not really) waiting on Sprint for the update. I spoke with BB Technical Service Team yesterday and they said Sprint would release it, 10.2, the end of this Month. I know, I know.

I've not seen a reply with a solution to the "Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\BlackBerry Link.msi" So I'll share mine.
I'm not sharing my configuration because I don't think this has anything to do with the problem nor the solution. I will say that I was upgrading the version.

Note the error message is telling us it is looking for the .msi file in a particular location. I checked a couple of times and it wasn't there. So I copied the installation program and renamed it from .EXE to .ZIP and opened it.
In the root directory you'll see the blackberry link.msi file. I extracted and copied the file to the c:\windows\installer directory, then started the installation program again (that's why I made a copy and renamed it). This time installation went all the way to the end - and stopped - it was looking for the data1.cab file in the same directory. This time installation stopped and was waiting, so I extracted and copied data1.cab to c:\windows\installer and resumed installation. It claimed it successfully completed. So far, so good.
