Now that the BlackBerry Keyboard app for Priv has reached version 2.0, one of the standout features has been the new swipe to type option. It's a feature already available through other keyboard apps on Android and but it's a welcome feature to the BlackBerry Keyboard for the Priv, over and above the usual flick typing that BlackBerry users love. If you want to turn on the new swiping feature, follow the steps below.
- Go to Settings by swiping down from the top and tapping the gear icon or by selecting it from the app drawer (white circle in the bottom center of the screen with a 2x3 grid on it)
- Select Language & input
- Choose BlackBerry Keyboard Settings
- Tap on Type by swiping
- Tap the toggle to ON on either the Touch screen keyboard or Physical keyboard or both if that's your preference.
It's pretty neat that it can be done on the physical keyboard too. Just bear in mind that if you do turn it on, you will lose the ability to swipe back to delete words as well as the ability to swipe down on the keyboard to bring up the symbols. It won't be for everyone but it does give us options and it's there if you want to use it. Watch the video below to see the new feature in action.
