As part of their ongoing beta updates rolling out through the BlackBerry Beta Zone for Priv owners, BlackBerry has released a new version of the BlackBerry Keyboard app. New language input support, as well as faster language switching using shortcuts, are among the highlights here.
This release of Keyboard has a mix of changes, but the biggest change is support for Chinese input. We have added Pinyin and Cangjie input methods. If you are fluent in Chinese, please download this update and try it out!
A second major new feature is faster language switching using some new shortcuts:
- Swipe on the virtual space key
- Press Alt+Enter on the physical keyboard
- Long press on Space to bring up the language picker
Before everyone gets overly excited, it's worth reminding folks that these updates are only available through the BlackBerry Beta Zone and to those who have signed up to participate in the beta releases. If you have not signed up and haven't been invited to download the apps, you will have to wait for the general release.
