Research In Motion has been offering sneak peeks of BlackBerry 10 to many different organizations and businesses, and the latest of these invitations were sent out to some important people in Ottawa, namely MPs, their assistants, members of Industry Canada, and regional caucus members. The BlackBerry Government Forum 2012 will be held November 7th at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier.
"Get a sneak peek of BlackBerry 10, the next generation mobile platform that will change everything. You're invited to join BlackBerry Government Forum 2012 for an exclusive invite-only presentation."

During the event RIM executives will show off the future of BlackBerry through live demos as well as hand out special prizes to those in attendance. BlackBerry remains strong on Parliament Hill, so much so that each new member is issued a BlackBerry when they begin working there. Offering these glimpses into the future of Research In Motion and BlackBerry 10 are a fantastic way to build confidence in the upcoming release of the new devices and OS.

Thanks Michelle for the info. At least RIM is doing something positive to keep people informed of BlackBerry 10. I wish, however, that we didn't have to wait so long for them to release BB10 to those of us who have been so patient.

I would be ecstatic if RIM would launch it in time for Christmas! What a present that would be

BLACKBERRY BY CHOICE !!

This is awesome news and am so happy that BB10 is comming. You are right about Christmas, what a gift that would be!!!

I want BB10 to sucseed for many reasons. Number 1 reason is I want the BB10 awesome experience, and number 2 is I want to see RIMS comeback so they can rub it in iCraps narcissistic face.

@Camfella. RIMS not going fail, but if it does I will exclusively use my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus, say c'est la vie and life goes on. I'm not one of those idiotic RIM purists who think there's nothing beyond Playbook.

And do us both a favor and stop following me around like a little liberal mutt looking for self gratification.

@Vic_Franklyn I can't help it if you keep offering opportunities for my "self gratification". I take it where I find it, you know how it is.

Camfella every time I see you post it is something negative. Not liking an article, or product on here and commenting is fine. But when every single time its something negative it looks like you have more of an agenda than being a blackberry fan.

@Bold_until_Hybrid_Comes. I agree with you 100%.

Seems @Camfella has a problem with negativity and is just a plain hater. I don't get angry at trolls like that and just have pity for them. Their lives have to be pretty pathetic to troll strangers like that for no reason.

And when they succeed?? we can expect your mea culpa?? I look forward to it. But my guess is you'll just slink away.

I don't care one way or the other. I'm not the one who said he's eager to rub it in to "icraps narcissistic face". You see, that is somebody who is emotionally invested in the outcome.

@Puz_zled

Camfella is just a hater troll. And of course Camfella cares, or else he wouldn't be trolling.

Ignore the pathetic little hater, and have faith that BB10 is going to put Blackberry back on top where they belong.

You guys need to realize retarded trolls like Camfella are like alley cats. You feed them and you can't get rid of the freak. Ignore the lowlife and it will slink away like the immoral corrupt person it is. DON'T FEED THE TROLL!!!!!

That's awesome to hear!
Let's hope that one of the "sneak peeks" is how bb10 will let you have more then one Word or Excel doc open at the same time. If they want to tout being a business OS, you got to be able to do this.
Plus...
How about being able to present a ppt from the playbook - no... Slide Show to Go doesn't cut it. We need an ability to present ppts that were created on a laptop to be shown from the playbook with full timings, animations, transitions, embedded video etc.
BB fanatics clamour that they want tools not toys. Well..........the other fruit company already does this and BB doesn't.
Make it happen RIM!

Lookin' forward to BB10

There's a little thing called an election. I think RIM is talking to the bureaucrats but I bet all the politicians and all their aides are not in Washington. I agree though - RIM needs to be introducing BB10 to the politicians as soon as possible. Right now though they are all out there wrapping themselves in the flag and trying to get elected.

If I were RIM I'd hand out some BlackBerry10 devices to me and the rest of my friends and family. You know, just to get the word out and what not.

You don't wanna know what I'd do for a dev alpha either!! It's painful watching Bla1ze and Kevin "help" RIM beta test.
I've lost the excitement of Christmas because BlackBerry10 won't be out then either...RIM look what you did to me..Smh..I'm a CrackBerry addict no doubt.

I'm patiently waiting for BB10 and know its gonna be a hit. The Canadian government needs to subsidize RIM and help to preserve this great Canadian treasure.

I don't buy that. RIM doesn't need and should not be subsidized at all. It has lots of money and ability to do it on its own.

Disagree. If RIM needs help, with all the help the Canadian Government is giving the welfare bums who refuse to work, it's the least the Canadian Government can do for RIM.

"all the help"? Oh Please. They keep them alive, that's about it. Coming from you, it doesn't surprise me.

You wanna be a bleeding heart liberal and don't like my opinion, that's your loss.

There's no reason for a healthy young person to be on welfare for more than a few weeks of emergency help.

I've never been out of work in my life before I became my own boss because I've always been willing to do what I have to do to find work.

The whole idea of welfare giving these welfare recipients just enough to keep them alive is to get them off their lazy able body butts, and contribute to society like normal people instead of living off our taxes so they can waste their checks on lottery tickets, cigarettes and alcohol. Disabled people are an exception and fully deserve government assistance as they are incapable of working.

In this analogy RIM is financially disabled and more than willing to work, so therefor are 100% entitled to government subsidization.

Yeah I know what you mean and agree 100% with you. Its really sad there's liberals out there who would rather give the money to welfare people and see RIM possibly go out of business, rather than subsidizing them. Glad liberals are a minority.

And coming from a left wing liberal like you, your stupidity doesn't surprise me either. You're an Obnoxious little troll and must have a pretty miserable life to get pleasure on hating. I pity people like you LOL.

The hate just oozes from your posts, you shouldn't be wound up so tight, you'll have a heart attack! I bet you weren't even smiling when you wrote "LOL"

Center left progressive here patiently awaiting BB10 and pulling for the BB user in chief for the win so that the economy regains a solid foundation so that millions aren't thrown into the social safety net by economic catastrophes caused by supply side economics which is all about the worship of base greed. A nation is not a business. It's far more complicated, nuanced and full of responsibilities that cannot be jettisoned just to improve share price.

The government should only give Rim as much as they have given to Bombardier. The Montreal daily Le Devoir reported that total financial support since 1996 would amount to $1.6-billion. Imagine the advertizing campaign they could run with 1.6 B.

Oh ya for sure. RIM is working their butts off to make BB10 a success and are 100% entitled to subsidization. This would not only benefit us in the private sector, but the government itself as most of them use Blackberry and Playbooks. Those of us who care about RIM's success need to lobby Ottawa for RIM subsidization.

I don't think RIM needs a bailout or government subsidy. But, a little show of pride and patriotism wouldn't be such a bad thing and the government can help RIM out by placing a few big orders for it's products and encouraging various government agencies to do the same through a buy Canadian program. A bailout or subsidy just reinforces the point of view that RIM cannot survive on it's own. But a show of faith through purchases is more of a show of patriotism and pride in a great Canadian tech company.

Same goal is reached, RIM gets more money in it's account, but one way looks good in the eyes of tax payers and it hard to write a negative story in the paper about and the other just leads to more RIM is washed up stories and tax payer outrage.

I partly agree with you, and you make several good points. The government should place a few big orders I agree. As it stands RIM is giving all MP's Blackberry hand sets for free. I'm guessing to entice them to place some big orders. I have supported Playbook since the beginning and even more so since I purchased one on Dec 24, 2011.

As for subsidy I believe the government should subsidize RIM. Not from the angle of RIM being a failure, which they are certainly not, but rather subsidize them so RIM can make a huge advertising campaign to advertise the upcoming BB10.

As it stands, the only way I knew there was a 4g lte Playbook launch was seeing it here on Crackberry and on YouTube with nothing on Tv. That isn't right for a great company like RIM.

Being Patriotic is great. Having a huge subsidy is something RIM badly needs to finance an advertising campaign. To advertise your product is a must in today's tech market, specially with most of the spotlight on Android and Apple, and something RIM would greatly benefit from.

@SuperionMaximus...Being a patriot is cool and everything but you gotta have money to advertise. Right now all RIM's money is going into developing bb10...so to get money from the Canadian government would help them out loads. There's crap products out there who's one tenth that of RIM who's mega successful. Why? They have huge TV and billboard advertising budgets. RIM would only benefit from the government footing the bill. And if RIM benefits then we all do...specially the government at tax time.

Hi priority is to do the US governement Show and tell. RIM should organize an event for us Government officials to continue to keep them onboard.

Absolutly; if you want RIM to survive they should get Blackberries in the US government, and hope Obama is still president when they attempt.

Yep to have the US Government as RIM allies would be very beneficial. Hope Obama is still in indeed rather then that square head Romney.

RIM should be holding events for government officials, law enforcement, military, etc. the world over. BlackBerry is the ONLY solution that meets the security needs these agencies need and they should be flaunting it to everyone on a position to purchase equipment.

I hate being a Negative Nancy but this "event" is also about greesing the palms of those who might protect them from a foreign take over...

#BB10Beleive

How do you figure that? Plus, I would hope that the Canadian Government would do everything it can to protect a company like RIM from getting purchased by a foreign company as the Canadian Government does rely heavily on BlackBerry and I'd rather not see that information be controlled by a company who's goals may not be as focused on it's protection as RIM's are.

Our Canadian Gov will do what it can to protect Canadian IP and tech...im just saying if the sky falls (which it wont), the Gov will be there to protect RIM.

Could there be a better BB10 launch in 2013 then providing a firm date for the release of the BB10 Touch and Qwerky phone + announcing Canadian Govt. and USA Govt. contracts + announcing Banking NFC partnerships & Telcom carrier partnerships + announcing SKYPE for BB10 + announcing a user friendly BB10 Tutorial site front and center on the RIM site where BB10 users can go with " Ease " and review BB10 user tips and feedbacks in video format. !! Now that will be a launch like no other !!

RIM can't announce skype, since they don't make the app. Microsoft/Skype has to make the application and submit it to Appworld for it to be included.

You have to remember the B10 launch is still as much an if as a when. If they do launch it, the hardware specs will be a year behind and the OS will have the inevitable bugs that come with any new system. A commercial success would be nothing short of a miracle. Plus the dorks got rid of the trackpad so they deserve to go down in flames. How did THAT meeting go?

"OK guys, let's build on our positives. What do we have that makes the phone a joy to use relative to other platforms?"

"There is the trackpad."

"Anything else? We're getting rid of that."

[crickets]

Stop being so negative every damn time.
You'll never know what BB10 will be like until it's released. HAVEN'T YOU READ THE BLOGS YET? You missed out on so many videos if you haven't. And rim isn't going to go down/bankrupt/be bought out at all. BlackBerry 10 is going to be a hit.

Premature judging, sure stinks.

I was at the Blackberry Enterprise Forum in Winnipeg on Oct. 18 and although I expect they will shift the focus to Government requirements, my guess is they will focus on the transition from BES 5 to BES 10 and some of the specialized security protocols they have implemented for government. The BB10 demo was neat and showed off the keyboard, how it learns from the user and can shift the touch points to automatically correct the user's frequent mis-types. They also showed off flow and peek in relation to the centralized mailbox or the Hub. Finally, they demonstrated the camera and how you can pick the best photo.

Of course they also kept saying "There is much more but we aren't allowed to show you yet!"

RIM is very proactive at getting the word out. Their sales rep was very frank in recognizing the media trashing RIM has been getting, but also debunking a lot of the false information out there.

Finally, the powerpoint was run off a Playbook using a Bold 9900 as the remote. The slides were static but it showed the power of the Playbook and bridge.

Lotta interesting stuff being said in here about RIM. The most interesting thing is something I read on a government subsidy. These RIM guys need this cuz the best way to get your product out to the people is to advertise it. There's products out there that are one tenth that of RIM who have huge advertising budgets. They are crap products but advertise so much people end up buying it cuz they cant get away from the advertising.

This is good. Seeing the government officials and those that work there and in those agencies having blackberry smartphones is just excellent. Keep it coming RIM!
