Today we continue our series on BlackBerry Friendly websites. These are websites that are useful and fit the limited screen size of your BlackBerry. For those of us that follow the stock market, having up to date stock information at your fingertips (thumbtips?) while you are on the go is important. It’s one more reason to leave that big laptop behind and just carry along your BlackBerry.

Charles Schwab

Charles Schwab provides a good basic Finance site. You can get quotes and recent news headlines. One very nice feature of this site is the ability to set up “Watch Lists” of stocks. When you later return to the site you can pull up a list that you have previously saved and quickly see all of your stocks.

This site wins the award for the most painful URL to type on a handheld. But it also has some nice information, and that’s what bookmarks are for. The webpage presents a view of the Dow and Nasdaq, nicely color coded. You can also go straight from the home page to a quote or a chart for your favorite stock. The charts were the easiest to read of all the sites, but they also seem to be limited to a 3 month time scale, which somewhat limits their usefulness.

Stockpoint

Stockpoint offers many of the same services that the other sites offer. They layout of the stock quote data was easy to read. Stockpoint also lets you download a stock chart for the day. The chart was a little hard to read, but it was still useful to see the daily trend of a stock. The news however didn’t seem to be updating when I visited the site. The date of the most recent headlines was two weeks old.

Fidelity Anywhere

Fidelity offers a very nice site with lots of useful features. Although you have to sign up for a free account to use some features, there are still many useful things that don’t require an account. Of the sites I looked at, Fidelity was unique in that it offered a stock chart that let you change the time scale from 1 day to 5 years. Wow, look at that 5 year chart for RIM. Should have bought 5 years ago! From a page for a particular stock, Fidelity lets you pull up headlines specific to that stock.
