BlackBerry Desktop Manager

Word is in that BlackBerry Desktop Manager (PC version) has updated to v6.1.0.35 and should be available for download. This version adds some fixes and it looks like support for BlackBerry OS 7 is built in as well. Most users are reporting they are prompted to update when they open up Desktop Manager, but a few have said they had to manually check for updates. Regardless, it should be available for all so get to downloading! Thanks to everyone that sent this in!

BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.1 adds new features and important enhancements to media and synchronization:
  • You can use the new Files feature to manage your files between your smartphone and computer.
  • If encryption is turned on for your smartphone, you can also synchronize encrypted media files or copy encrypted files between your smartphone and computer.
  • If your smartphone is associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you can also synchronize security certificates.

Hmm, the version available on the blackberry.com site is Desktop Software v6.0.2 B45. Must not have it ready to go there yet. Does anyone have a link or is it only prompting an update from an existing install?

2Big2Strong2Fast

It pops up as soon as you open BB DM. Don't see it anywhere else yet....

Looks like BB 7 devices may appear any day now. I am speculating a June 14th announcement & carrier pre-order for a June 28 availability.

Just the fact that there is a new RELEASED Desktop Software that supports BB 7 is a good hint :)

Cula

is wifi music sync also updated, or does it just need to be reinstalled? poped up for me atleast :)

It'd be nice to have a download link to the BlackBerry site in the article. Thanks Michelle. :)

Maybe some fixes for the Playbook back-up issues? It's hard to know exactly where the problem lies, and it is likely on the Playbook end, but its always nice to see an update!

So finally they decided to include the security certificate synchronization support.....whew

Will this update work on my 9780 LOL

Oooh! Maybe this will fix my bricked playbook that the last desktop software version created! I'll try it before i ship it back to rim tonight.. fingers sheepishly crossed..

petworks97

still no love for us Mac users

pjmacklin

there is a mac update in beta testing as we speak.

petworks97

i'm a beta tester and it's not available. I can't find it and others post the same problem.

kevinnugent

So, still no love for Mac users. sigh.

henninge

OTA link? only finding "Desktop Software v6.0.2 B45"

RoseBud68

You should get an update once you open BDM on your computer.

pjmacklin

like henninge, still waiting. wondering if it has anything to do with my running the leaked v6.1.0.20.

Not updating until someone tells me that the AutoText db can be backed up and restored from DM again.

carrickfergus

Finally, backups are automatically dated again!

It "popped up" as soon as I opened my Blackberry Desktop Manager. Simple update. NEW PHONES CAN'T BE FAR BEHIND.

Hopefully this one actually detects my Playbook...

pjmacklin

for what it's worth, it is now available for download at blackberry.com!

Just downloaded. Having same problem on my 9800 Torch. When I click to open DTM the following appears:
Blackberry Desktop software has stopped working. Windows will shut down DTM.
DTM worked fine last week when I upgraded (Torch 9800)to O/S 6.0.0.576. I have uninstalled DTM and reinstalled the latest DTM software v6.1.0.35 (Bundle 34)
Can anyone help me out there?
Got no answers on Crackberry forum (Desktop Manager) on this problem.

While trying to Custom backup my Playbook using this new DM version, I noticed that Applications are showing as 0 byte. Also in the Full Backup option, I do not see any Applications considered. Anybody else noticed it? I will try again at my home laptop to see if same behavior.

narci

Has that Mobile Internet button always been there?

drakesaliasonline

Yes for the longest! I use it all the time :)

rusco

Still can't detect new BB devices correctly. Tested on my 9810 (jennings)... :(

rnich120

I upgraded and there was a update for my torch.

On upgrading - DM failed to finish off the process and was just hanging on the final step of rebooting even tho the phone has rebooted and was working perfectly fine.

Had to crash DM so there maybe be some issues with it.

The version on RIM's site seems like it is a multi-language version. Is there an English only version (to cut down on size a bit)?

petworks97

i emailed rim support on the beta page regarding the mac beta and they sent me an invite. I;m going to install the beta tonight.

Shame they are so far behind on the Mac OS X version. I've tried desktop manager on Windows, and it is much better than the current Mac version. I can only hope they get it right sometime soon.
