BlackBerry Curve 8520 Gets FCC Approved By Kevin Michaluk | 30 Jun 2009 17:03 |
With all the BlackBerry Tour mania on CrackBerry this week, it's almost easy to forget about the next new device lined up to hit the market in the weeks/months ahead, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 (aka Gemini). The 8520 has been in full-production for weeks already and with FCC approval now behind it it's now just a matter of when. With time we should see the Curve 85xx series roll out to many carriers (1 of the 3 devices in the photo above is actually a CDMA-friendly Curve 8530... can you guess which one?!) but it's looking like T-Mobile will get the honor in the USA of pushing this optical trackpad equipped, rubbercoated Curve first. Anybody out there planning to pick this one up when it hits??

till this comes out.
i am the first one posting. YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the one on the right is the CDMA friendly 8530.
Am I right...do I win it!?!?!
Just kidding...unless I won!
Love the Track pad but I'll be sticking with the Tour when it comes out.
im getting this
replacing my blackberry lol
If its hitting TMobile here in the states then I'm down. I need to transition to a physical qwerty keyboard now that I landed a new job because my 9530 may not cut it with the work load I'm going to be expecting. :-) Cool though thanks CB!
This baby looks nice, and I know I know, it's an 8xxx, so with the exception of Verizon's 8330 Curve, it's EDGE-only. :( :(
I hope I'm wrong....lol
If it comes to AT&T, or maybe If I could get a unlocked one!! I love the buttons on top! The trackpad looks slick as well!
My next BB enabled trackpad will be the Onyx 9020. Once you go Bold, everything else is just... well, old.
If it comes to verizon I might replace it for my storm instead of the tour...
Cant wait till the Oynx is released, thats my next BB, it has everything including the optical trackpad. YAY!
Might wait for the Magnum ifi want a touchscreen, havent decided, but my next BB will be the Oynx or Magnum.
i will be getting this as soon as it hits tmobile. Need to upgrade my 8320 without paying too much.
I am curious how many people buy the new Blackberry every time one comes out.
I'm a new phone every 3 years type of guy and with the costs of some of these devices I may have to stretch it to 4!
I just wonder if you are getting that much more phone if you swap out every year!
Miami Auto Insurance
That really depends on what your carrier has to offer and when.
There are times when going to a new phone after only a year can make a big difference and they're are times when it can make very little difference.
I guess a good example would be someone that just got the Bold with in the last year. If the 9020 (Onyx) comes out in the next few months than I would think that may not be worth shoveling out the cash as it isn't a huge difference aside from the physical size of teh 2 devices.
Another example would be if you bought yourself a Pearl in the last year and then the Pearl Flip came out shortly after. That may be worth paying to upgrade. Problems aside, and dis reagarding if you do or don't like a flip phone, from reading the forums it seems people are happy with the upgrade. As it has been a long time since the Pearl came out and was updated (not including when the pearl finally came to CDMA carriers).
Anyway, that is just my opinion. If you love toys and gadgets then what I said definitely does not apply ;)
Them phones is dusty.
I'm probably sticking to my Bold until the Onyx comes out.
I think the left one is CDMA version as its got different coloured top buttons
it the middle one
The track pad looks AWESOME! I can't wait for the Onyx to come on out. I really think RIM should of thrown in 3G into this model...it really could of been the lower priced "media" 3G BB that everyone would go ga-ga for! The rubber-ized body and music player buttons on top are pretty bad ass.
The dust on the devices don't make them anymore appealing. I wish I could get a new device though. The Storm is okay but I kinda miss the trackball.
I know that the Onyx is slated for AT&T, but is there any way that T-Mobile would carry it too? The Gemini's nice and all, but there are just so many pluses with the Onyx. And I'm fonder of the Onyx's keyboard.
So verizon is getting the new curve tooo???? (inference from xx30)
I already have one and I must say its pretty nice. I almost like the trackball better though. I guess you can call me old fashioned. I do like the media buttons on the top and the rubber around the phone definitely has saved my gemini from a few flaws. The keys feel a lot like the 8900 but I have got use to them. Overall I think it is a really sound phone and may make many 8900 owners a little envious!
I'm currently using both 8900 and Bold... I have a chance to play with the 8520. I did not find this 8520 attractive at all. It is lacking auto focus, only 2.0 MP camera, worse screen resolution, no 3G. It is a so so entry level phone. The only thing that will make me consider this phone is that it supports the UMA from t-mobile. Other than that.... that's it.. :(
i think this is my new love
I really hope that there are more optical trackpad phones
