Despite there being no official announcement, BlackBerry has recently added a pretty awesome feature to BBM Channels. Channel owners who use the online portal can now precisely target audiences they want to see particular updates and posts made to a channel. You can set targeting by a few different options such as demographic, geo-targetting as well as platform targeting.
Before posting to a channel through the web console, admins will be able to filter down the demographic section using the age and sex options, then choose what countries should be shown the post and then, what platforms should be more likely to see it, whether it be BlackBerry, Android, iOS or Windows. When submitted, only those who fit the criteria will be able to see the post.
Needless to say, the benefits of this addition are huge as you're more accurately able to reach those who you need to reach, which is incredibly useful for brands who are using BBM Channels to get their messages out. The only downside thus far, is that fact it hasn't translated over to mobile as of yet, so the options are only available for the web console.
