BlackBerry Bridge updated to version 1.0.7.4

BlackBerry Bridge has received another update, this time to version 1.0.7.4. In the usual RIM fashion there is no change log to go along, so if you do find anything new and exciting be sure to leave a comment and let us know. Hopefully this tweaks up some of the bugs users were having and possibly even works with the PlayBook 2.0 OS. Grab the update from BlackBerry App World at the link below.

Is it too much to ask for a brief comment of what was changed? Maybe we can get RIM to build that into the next update(s)!

"In the usual RIM fashion there is no change log to go along"
It's best to disclose a little as possible about your products, it's updates and fixes. Leave customers in the dark and have them solely rely on trust.
It is bad business practice to confirm problems and give ETA's on fixes or at least confirm a fix is on the way, it's better to leave them in the dark so they most likely change devices, again, trust is best way to have your customers deal with your products.
Also, keep pushing updates release date that would make your flagship product shine - TRUST!

Good timing - my bridge is playing the arse this morning! OS1.07 and a Javelin.

Minor OS update on the way?
Darlaten Nov 3, 2011 at 11:42 am
Agree with the OP - would it kill RIM to indicate what's been changed, enhanced, upgraded, stabalized? Seriously, how long could it have taken to write a brief statement to that effect.

us att users need the link to the ota version
pjmacklin Nov 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm
att user here, was able to download this no issue! couple ways to get it done: if you have the newest version of app world, you can go to installed apps. on the pull down menu go to upgrades. if you don't see it, touch (tap/push) the bb button, scroll down to refresh and it should appear.
otherwise, go to bb app world, do an alt r-s-t-r-s-t. sign in and you should see it.

visit rroyy.com from your AT&T mobile BlackBerry Device and choose "Applications" then search for "BlackBerry Bridge" and then download your OS version of the OTA Bridge. i'm on AT&T with the Torch 9800 os 6 and did this and everything works excellent. Can't wait till Sunday to get Bold 9900 from AT&T, i hope the white one is available...
mikegcox Nov 3, 2011 at 11:52 am
Just like every bridge update, it comes just before an OS update and is simply done to make it compatible with what is about to be released. Stop the negativity OP, You are part of the problem!
narci Nov 3, 2011 at 12:21 pm
No PB update when the last bridge update came out.
iPhoneTHS Nov 3, 2011 at 1:45 pm
Mike - you mistake a simple request as being a negativism. If I were being negative, I would say something along the lines of, "Down with RIM," "IPhones are better," etc. I simply asked for a simple statement. Or was that negative also? Have you been waiting to ask that question for some time now? JA!

is there still a version out there that allows bridge without extra $20 ATT subscription? thank you
narci Nov 3, 2011 at 12:22 pm
You'll have to download the bridge app itself and manually install it. The forums have many threads on how to do this.
ryanlrobinson Nov 3, 2011 at 11:57 am
Installing now. Hopefully it fixes the problems with the 2.0 Beta - I've been debating switching back to 1.0.7 just to get my Bridge back.

doesn't fix the bridge issues on 2.0 nor does it give you https access on 2.0... THANKS RIM!
ifarlow Nov 3, 2011 at 12:35 pm
OS2 for the PlayBook is not feature-complete and is not designed to be used in a regular environment. The only person you can blame for your issues is you.
Altarocks Nov 3, 2011 at 12:37 pm
I don't have any bridge issues since the beta update. Everything works - even files and browsing. So yeah, I'll offer a sincere Thanks to RIM.
loth Nov 3, 2011 at 12:47 pm
update os 2.0 BETA FOR DEVS is working for me, so i dont whinning cuz is a beta for developers...
AGAIN ITS A BETA FOR DEVELOPERS
mud314 Nov 3, 2011 at 1:26 pm
So what you are saying is that this for devs. JK man. I know right, funny how they are complaining about something that it clearly says beta for devs. I say with throw them into a pit of snakes and ask them to find a snake :)
JosephRuff Nov 3, 2011 at 1:57 pm
you all just cracked me up.... i try to push the blackberry name every chance i get! i get 2.0 is for devs, but doesnt that mean every aspect should be accessible? yes i can use every feature of it but all i ask is a link that shows on my notifications or my "desktop" work... is that wrong? i didnt know links were that complicated? so sorry for 1 post out of 100 being negative but i just want a simple easy feature... i didnt complainabout native pim or slow as mollasses flash...
so i throw myself at the mercy of all of the rim supporters for the misuse of a critique i thought should be included...
ifarlow Nov 3, 2011 at 4:15 pm
"you all just cracked me up...."
Nothing that was said was intended to be a joke. That means that you are laughing for no reason... a sure sign of insanity.
"i get 2.0 is for devs, but doesnt that mean every aspect should be accessible?"
No, it does not, especially when RIM indicated that the OS2 beta is not feature complete. I also don't think you quite "get" it since you asked this question.
"yes i can use every feature of it but all i ask is a link that shows on my notifications or my "desktop" work... is that wrong?"
Yes, it is.
"i didnt know links were that complicated?"
RIM never said they were. They did say, however, that OS2 is not complete. Is that so complicated to understand?
"so sorry for 1 post out of 100 being negative but i just want a simple easy feature... i didnt complainabout native pim or slow as mollasses flash..."
Well, I'm proud of you then. Congratulations. Oh, wait... you just made those complaints, didn't you. Well, in that case, I take back my "congratulations." I am no longer proud of you.
"so i throw myself at the mercy of all of the rim supporters for the misuse of a critique i thought should be included..."
This is not a court room, so no need to throw yourself at the mercy of anyone. However, since you did throw yourself, I will say this: you get no mercy. And while we're at it... there's a little known key on your keyboard (on-screen or otherwise) that does magical things to letters like make them taller than all the other letters. You should try pressing that key once in a while. It's magical.
JosephRuff Nov 3, 2011 at 5:03 pm
Well as you can see I was actually typing on my PLAYBOOK, and it was rendering the text so slow that even when I had hit the spacebar it didn't actually register so sorry that I didn't go back to change every single punctuation... and actually complain about native pim... I complained that I couldn't access my f'n bridge without some half-assed work around... Sooooooooo seeing as though you decided to comment on every single piece of my post I will do the same to you.
As for the understanding of a BETA os, and being a legitimate member of the Blackberry beta program, I have used many programs that break or that maybe don't have all their features... BUT when there isn't a feature available its not usually in your face saying USE THIS!
A link to a "non-native" pim function doesn't seem all that hard to make. I've worked with many platforms and usually if something is on the screen and has a link to something of value, it works... So if they decided to give such links then why not ACTUALLY have them working?
Well since I pretty much don't care about your opinion after typing for a few minutes, I'll end with this. I've been a member of these forums for a while, I usually side with RIM, but sorry not being able to access bridge easily is quite annoying sometimes when I'm at work and need access fast. So Thank you for taking the time to address all my statements but the fact still remains, your wrong and I'm right... haha!
brianr549 Nov 3, 2011 at 12:12 pm
I have not had any issues with bridge, and I have installed both OS2 dev versions OTA.
Torch 9810 7.0.0.439
Playbook 2.0.0.3894

We've had an update of the bridge with no update in PBOS before, last update as a matter of fact. I expect no more with this one especially since they are working on the 2.0 and have said they are holding up everything for that.
shootsscores Nov 3, 2011 at 1:51 pm
The last bridge update preceded OS2 beta release.
just_luc Nov 3, 2011 at 1:36 pm
its got a new icon...
just_luc Nov 3, 2011 at 1:46 pm
whoa.. its also put a bridge icon in the top notification bar by the clock showing its connected, and its permanently docked the new regular bridge icon in the top row of the applications and won't allow you to move or hide it..(though you can defeat this by moving the icons around it.. moving things in front of it will one by one push it down..still.. weird.. ) This isn't another bug fix.. something is going on here..
Strider2112 Nov 3, 2011 at 1:57 pm
I haven't updated bridge and I have the "connection" icon by the clock
just_luc Nov 3, 2011 at 2:11 pm
I've never had that icon until just now.. not with the release playbook os, not when I updated to 2.0, nor when I reverted back..
you sure where talking about the same icon? my post in the forums has a picture..

I dont understand the reason for bridge issues on 2.0. I get the whole developer build, but why shouldnt I be able to shoot emails whilei am testing and working on my PB. I paid for the damn thing.

I have updated and have no problems with running Bridge.
I'm now running
OS 2.0.0.3894
9800 : 6.0.0.688
I also didn't have any issues running bridge with the previous OS2.0 release.

Crackberry, can you please post what the "old" software version was when posting an "updated software" story, please?
just_luc Nov 3, 2011 at 2:34 pm
That's a good idea.. people could have a look and see if they missed a version or whatnot before they update..
dmoon911 Nov 3, 2011 at 2:57 pm
Haven't had the notification problems yet since the update? Doesn't tell me I have an e-mail or BBM when I don't. Can anyone else confirm this?
Revord Nov 3, 2011 at 3:05 pm
yep, it seems that this update did at least fix that. I hope. It was at best finnicky, never totally reliable, but it seems to be the case
LuayS Nov 3, 2011 at 4:42 pm
While using bbm over bridge the first letter is automatically capitalized, double space inputs a period and also the letter i is autocapitalized as well. Now if only this was throughout the entire OS and bridge browser. Also seems to auto change didnt to didn't so contractions are working fine.
ahamacher Nov 3, 2011 at 5:19 pm
That all has nothing to do with this update. My bridged BBM does all that and I haven't updated anything yet.
ErnieH Nov 3, 2011 at 7:41 pm
All the heavy lifting in Bridge is on the phone side. The Playbook just slaves to your phone. So what you see in BBM and Messaging on your Playbook, you're getting through Bridge.
tboyd1120 Nov 3, 2011 at 6:57 pm
I can now edit Bridge Notes, Tasks, Calendar on PB. I could not edit my notes on the PB with the previous updates.
ahamacher Nov 3, 2011 at 11:02 pm
Again, sorry, but none of that is new. I can edit all that including memos with Bridge v. 1.0.6.5
ahamacher Nov 3, 2011 at 11:22 pm
That said, now that I've downloaded it, things seem much faster.
cvdburgh Nov 4, 2011 at 1:03 pm
weird thing: my e-mails dont display properly. The list of messages is on the left and the messagebody of the selected item is on the right, however, the lines of text don't autowrap right. In full screen message display, allis well. I'll reboot both devices and see what happens but still, this wasn't here before.
green_ember Nov 5, 2011 at 11:40 am
After the update, my email is screwy too. Images constantly reload when I scroll. Mind you, I don't mean re-render, they actually all load over again. It's very annoying...
Perseus71 Nov 7, 2011 at 11:01 am
After I applied the update my perfectly working bridge no longer works. I was able to flawlessly browse while bridged, FB, evernote.... now all that has gone away. I get errors that my smartphone is unable to reach the website I am going to.
Not happy about this update.
Is there a way to roll back?
