Hey guys-
I run a Best Buy Mobile dept and thought I'd let you know we've received our DUMMY blackberry bolds and not the units themselves yet. Some stores are alittle ahead of themselves. We're still being told the 4th also. Thought I'd fill ya in.

I'm pretty sure that's all Kevin meant, even though the article did sound like the store had the actual units already.

Ooooh yeah. I guess that could read a little too much like "available today"

Will clarify my wording on that for y'all.

...so many Best Buy's and no one has nothing, nada! Looks like we'll all have to wait for the 4th Nov, for MULTIPLE reasons!

Prices are high, but at least the launch date is final and just 5 days away. I will be taking an early lunch that day.

So after months of staring at the Bold...on my computer screen...I finally held a dummy version at a BB in NYC last night. No working version was available. It felt good, looked good, albeit a dummy.

I guess my only concern was the keyboard. It felt a little smushed together as in the keys being very close to one another. But I'll wait to play with a working model next week.

I am a T-mobile customer whose contract has expired and I am either going with the Storm on Verizon or the Bold on ATT. I'm leaning toward the Bold at the moment...

I saw one of the placards the other day and it indicated that the "upgrade" price was $419. Yes, more expensive than the new customer price.

They have them on display at Radio Shack as well.

Blackberry was always cheap in Canada, RIM has special discount coupons for us :)

I work at Best Buy Mobile in Maine, and as soon as this Mock came in I grabbed it off the truck and didn't let go of it for a good.... 45 minutes.
ha!
Its such an awesome device!
Although we can't sell them yet, that doesn't stop us from pulling them out of the box to play with them as much as possible!
I can't wait for November 4th!!

Also - yea, the pricing does seem a little high! BUY, BBY, RIM, and everyone else knows that we're willing to pay it!

AlietteM89894,

A MOCK phone is plastic and does not work, nor does it come in a real device box. They come in tiny bubble wrap deals in brown boxes so I dont know how you played with it. What in the heck are you doing with a plastic phone for 45min?

I saw it last week, and looked at it, held it, and put it down. How can you even tell it is an awesome device off a mock phone?

it's $349.99 on an upgrade - i also work at bestbuy and ran it through the register last night to see what it would price at, and a regular upgrade came down to $349.99.

friend of mine works for AT&T and she said that through ATT the phone is $299 after 100 rebate on both new contracts AND upgrades

In comparison to the Curve size (These were taken ON my curve, so I had to use just one of the silicon cases as a size example):

And in case anyone was interested, the Flip Blackberry was also there.
The device is HUGE when flipped open. I was surprised to see how big it was. Imagine having two pearls put on top of one another (as you'll see here anyways)

But the OS is pretty sweet to play with.

that the AT&T Bold page still says "Coming Soon" even though we've had an official announcement.

I dont mind spending 659 for a non-contractual phone. They charge 670 for the bb curve so im all for the price BUT i would rather goto AT&T and pay $550 for the same thing...

Posted by Michael Kuenne Thursday, Oct 30, 2008 1199 days ago

Silly question, but would Best Buy match the AT&T Store price of $299 for an upgrade. Maybe not because of the rebate?

Posted by Dave1 Thursday, Oct 30, 2008 1199 days ago

Probably not since it takes an instant rebate off when you ring out. The only thing would be if they can override it more than it already is. I doubt though, they will do that. Most the time they dont bargain on phones. You might be able to have them give you 10% or something off accessories if you said you were going to AT&T, and that would save you some.

I received the Best Buy newspaper flyer tonight and they are listing the Bold @ $199.00 on a 3 year term w/ Rogers after a $100.00 price drop.

Great deal on a Bold, but I'd rather not be signed up on some locked in plan to any company!
