Very disappointed to see them announce FALL. I was hoping for late August to early September at the latest.

Posted by ima5exypaki Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

seriously! NOT COOL SPRINT!

Posted by ZMc1834 Thursday, Aug 04, 2011 292 days ago

As per a tweet from CB yesterday: "@Crackberry Multiple confirmations (again) that Sprints release date for new BB devices is Aug 21st - Bla1ze"
So, we might still have a shot at the 21st, but I am taking the approach of believing it when I see it at this point.

Price? Will be interesting if they follow suit with AT&T rumored pricing. I hope not. Otherwise I assume VZW will be right there behind them all with an overpriced phone.

Posted by ZMc1834 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

What is AT&T'S rumored price? I have only seen the leaked info of T-Mobile supposedly listing it at $299 on a 2-year contract.

Posted by ddj247 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Well screw it now.. If it's going to be late fall I will just stick with my 9650 Bold till QNX comes out. If this phone was released this month I'd have no problem at all paying full for it and then using upgrade for a QNX device. I'm not gonna get this phone for just a few months use out of it and then have the possibility of QNX come out shortly after.

Posted by HavPlenty Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

When should we expect to see QNX????

Posted by TivoAl Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Fully agree. I'm holding onto my Tour and my next Sprint upgrade until the QNX phones are out.

I can't see anything revolutionary about the new Bold, except the touchscreen and I have that on my Playbook.

Posted by Mallet21 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

No NFC on the 9850?? Damn.

Posted by johnmarki Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Fall? Ridiculous...

Posted by Cohibaluvr Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

FALL????? FALL?? Ughhhhhhhhhh I have to wait even longer to dump my TOUR?

Posted by Revyrah Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Serves you right for getting a Tour in the first place.

i know it's harsh, but hey...I've taken more flak as a Storm fan.

Posted by Emu the Foo Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

LOL. That's funny. I like how you turned the tables... Kinda

Posted by camera531 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

"In the coming months"!! Very disappointing. I was expecting the 3rd week in August. Could be 3 months from now! Not exactly the big rollout that RIM was boasting!

Posted by Kingkracker Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

RIM isn't the issue, Sprint is. The phones are ready - carrier is not.

Posted by glinc Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Sprint is just not ready for the millions of people that will be making lines for the phones.... Oh wait, I confused it with the iPhone.

Posted by camera531 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Not necessarily, RIM might not have enough production units ready yet. Who knows? But it's kind of unbelievable. They needed to push these out this month. Just announcing them isn't enough. It's already been 3 months since the 9900 announcement,

They waited until after the iPad 2 to launch the Playbook (BAD call). Now they'll wait until after the iPhone 5 to launch these (another BAD call). One step forward, two steps back! Very disappointing.

Posted by Kingkracker Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

I doubt it. The carriers are usually the ones sitting on phones, OS updates and the like.

Big deal they waited to launch the Playbook after the iPad. If they ran the same OS I would see it as an issue, but they don't. If they both ran Android I would expect them to beat out each other in the launch. I waited to buy a tablet because the first is not the best.

Posted by camera531 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

I'm a blackberry die-hard, don't get me wrong, but launching these this late, after the iPhone 5 and more dual core Androids is going to hurt overall sales very badly. You'd be naive to think otherwise. I will still get the 9850, but a lot of potential buyers will now pass.

Posted by Jawbone220 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Will now pass and do what? Wait another three years for something better? I'm definitely getting the 98xx, can't wait. Sure I'm just as disappointed with RIM for the late release of a product that's arguably behind others, but it's still leaps ahead for the company itself.

Posted by LewLew23 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

I agree with this. Obviously you can't always wait for something better because most likely everything in the future will be better. If you like something, get it. But I just don't find it reasonable to wait for the "next best thing" because once you have that, you're gonna want the "next best thing."

Posted by Kingkracker Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

I don't think so. I know alot of people that had a Droid and dumped it for a BB because the battery life sucked. I actually have a 9650 and also a work issued Droid (which should be renamed Dead). People ultimately will choose the phone that fits them. The iPhone does not fit me and I am sure many others out there as well. I think RIM gets it now - they snoozed for two years and took a hit. I think launching these phones now knowing new phones with QNX will be coming in the not too distant future is fine.

RIM needs to kick ass in marketing.

The chicken little syndrome needs to stop.

Posted by Jawbone220 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

I agree whole heartedly!

I can't wait for QNX, but I don't think we'll see it for at least another one and a half years. Hopefully sooner if RIM get's down to business... but we'll see.

Posted by HavPlenty Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Damnit, I'll pass. When is QNX showing it's head???

Posted by Jawbone220 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

rumor has it in about 18 months or less. If RIM holds true to it's recent nature, it'll be closer to two years.

Posted by 3Dee Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Yes, I'm pondering whether to go for an 18 month contract or a 2 year (UK, not Sprint) as I seriously wonder whether a QNX qwerty will be here within 18 months.

Posted by El Platanero Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

It happening. I don't see the QNX phone being ready by then. The upside of being a blackberry fan is that when you finally get the product it is second to none for what I need. The downside (and realistic part) is that if they promise to have something new out within 18 months, grab whats available now becuase you will not see it any sooner and even on time.

Like I said. One advantage they will always have if they stick to the same format is my business but I will never hold my breath for the next.

Posted by pkcable Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Looks like Sprint is out of the running for my business, it's down to staying on Verizon, or going to TMobile!

Posted by Joe257 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Everyone feels the love! Hey, wait, where is Verizon?

Posted by sk8er_tor Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

I have a feeling that RIM isn't too happy with Verizon. Verizon basically dumped RIM for Android a few months back and look now, Android's return rate is said to be at 40%! Screw you Verizon!

Posted by nikkisharif Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

Seriously? You really think Android's return rate is 40%? If that was true, they'd be damn near out of business because no one would wanna sell their phones. I swear people believe anything!!!! Just like the AT&T 9900 is 4G...LOL

Just an FYI...I own a Blackberry!!!

Posted by guerllamo7 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Don't panic yet. The Sprint representative we spoke to said they are scheduled for August 23rd. At least for business.
It is possible that the full touch screen could come later but the Bold should be out this month.

Our company is dropping their droids (nice but battery life makes them useless to us) and it will be nice to get back to a keyboard.

Posted by camera531 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

With all due respect, I wouldn't put money on that one. More like November!

Posted by italirican2003 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Yay, Sprint! Still don't know for sure which one I want! I'm leaning more toward the Torch!

Posted by chillson1386 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

If Verizon comes and says that this phone doesn't come out till Fall, I may as well wait and see what the new iPhone may have to offer. I had one before and didn't like it, but the new one is supposed to have a little bigger display. But I really wanted the new BB for the keyboard.

Posted by nachiAlan Thursday, Aug 11, 2011 284 days ago

I still love my Tour and can wait for Verizon when my two years is up this October. I have "seen the light" after jumping to Sprint and AT&T in the past and spending a lot of money dumping them and coming back to Verizon. I hope Verizon comes out with the 9930. I had my eye on HTC Vigor (here about October 15) which will be the next version of the Thunderbolt or the IPhone 5 but the new malware attacks on Android and IPhone restore my hope that RIM can repel much of this.
Speculating that possibly two years with the 9930 would then be time for QNX to evolve as the prototypes will drive on nuts like the first version of the Tour did with me(trackball problems), or like the first Droid that I got for my niece which we now call the "Dread".

Posted by DadaThePanda Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

this is ridiculous! the 9930 was announced in May, the Torch just now and release sometime in fall? SOMETIME IN FALL? this must be a joke, no foresight on the side of Sprint or RIM. Who's in charge, a bunch of 8th graders? Oh, wait, they would do a better job...

Posted by Laserpointer Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

I want the Bold 9930, but it should be out this month, not in November!!! RIM is so slow!

Posted by ddj247 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Yea I feel ya. Don't matter on who's end who's not ready to launch this. It's just pure BULL! You officially announce phone in May and then carrier announces for FALL?! LAME! I never seen anything like this from any phone company even with delays!

Posted by jbundyCB Thursday, Aug 11, 2011 285 days ago

Really? I think you need to calm down. The HP Pre 3 hasn't even released, and that was "ready to go" back in February, just a couple weeks after HP's own CEO ran his mouth off about not announcing products not ready (source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12291529).

You have no choice but to wait, so just wait. It's not something you aren't used to, and no company ever is going to change that. Windows Phone users are still "waiting" for Mango after it was announced late last year. iOS fans are "waiting" on just an announcement for a new iPhone. Android users are "waiting" on Google to take control of the update process to ensure all capable devices receive updates at the same time and not after carrier and OEM intervention. There will always be "wait," so please stop the crying about waiting and go play.

Posted by scottaco Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

While I fully appreciate the choices from Sprint, I've already spent all summer making the decision (just in case.)
On the go, communication is key. I don't believe there's anything better than the Bold for that purpose. Having a PB for when I have the downtime, I just don't see the need for the Touch Torch.

Posted by axllebeer Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

I'm caught in that same delema. I have a PB, so do I really need another touchscreen? Probably bank for the 9930. But it is nice to see RIM put out what looks to be an awesome touchscreen. If I didn't have the PB, I would be more likely to grab up the Torch. Hard to give up my QWERTY...

Posted by cespinal26 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Bye Sprint! Yes thats right i would like to cancel all 4 of my lines. Fall is ridiculous with QNX phones coming out next year.

Key statement in the last sentence: "Alas, dates can and often do change but we've got our fingers crossed." This was a leaked SKU page that could have been from anyone at anytime and was subject to change. Also, who's to say that some random person trying to just start a rumor didn't pull up an excel spreadsheet and make this on their home computer. It wouldn't be difficult to find an old sku sheet and just copy the format and put all the upcoming phones on it.

Posted by intellectronik Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

I concur the dates could be subject to change, but I can also tell you first-hand that excel spreadsheet is NOT home-made. I'll leave it at that, and truth is NONE of us will know until you see it for sale on your carrier of choice's website (WITH pricing.)

Posted by ZMc1834 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Yes, I agree that it is real, but I was just stating that it is also a possibility and people shouldn't always get their hopes up over leaked documents because you never know when it was created and where it originated, I am guilty of it from time to time as well for getting my hopes up.

Posted by Jawbone220 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Very cool to see the new Blackberry Balance!!! Great to see the combination of BES and personal together in one physical phone, yet still keep the same security! :)

Posted by miamimanu86 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Very dissapointing, I only expected them until august, sorry guys, I'm done, going to an Android, its just way to fucking much

Posted by lnichols Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Sprint keeps making my decision to go elsewhere easier all the time! Hopefully T-Mobile will have the 9860 soon

Posted by estarno Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

LOL THIS FALL?? When we've got RIM telling us that the new super QNX phones *should* be out early next year? They can't even give us a solid date anywhere. This company is really a steaming pile of SH*T! If Verizon is the same, iPhone 5 here I come... and it's looking that way anyway seeing that the dam new BB's aren't that impressive.

Posted by keen_mofo Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

The AT&T press release states that the Torch will be launched "in August." Sprint says it will have "America's First BlackBerry 7 Smartphones." Truth in advertising or puffery?

Posted by ZMc1834 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Technically they don't say that they will be the first to release "America's First Blackberry 7 Smartphones". They just state that they will have them which is true because it is the first BB7 phones. Just good wording to make it sound one way, but not actually mean it that way.

Posted by keen_mofo Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

ZMc1834, you are correct, Sir! I fell for their clever semantics and jumped to the false assumption that they probably wanted me to.

You know what the The Champ says about "assuming"... (reference for the six other people that saw Slammin Salmon)

Posted by WILLSaDICKted Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Will- I am personally ok with this...I'm not due for an upgrade until March, wasted my last one on the style when I decided that my Bold should join me in the pool back in march. Sprint may be taking their time with releasing it, but how long has it been since sprint really had a competitive blackberry? Im really excited that I will have the choice between the 9930 and the 9860, but I will likely go with the Bold since that phone is fucking sexy!

Posted by estarno Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

you realize March is leap years away in the tech world? I guarantee you that you won't be interested in a 9930 or 9860 next march...

Posted by WILLSaDICKted Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

Will- Well it all depends...unless they plan on releasing something even bigger next year then I am dead set on getting the 98 or 99 series...patience is a virtue...

Posted by Joe257 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

Apparently, Verizon hasn't finished certifying the new phones just yet. Hence the delay. RIM decided to go ahead anyway. Good decision by RIM. Too bad VRZN!!! Slacker!

Posted by michaelpaytonmz Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

I don't have an upgrade until March, so I can deal with the delay, if there are any.

Posted by kauser667 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

WOW I have been waiting patiently but I am running out of patience.........

Posted by DadaThePanda Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 293 days ago

this is the crap Sprint replied to my email about release/price details:
'Thank you for contacting Sprint regarding Blackberry Bold 9930.

Currently Sprint announced to launch Blackberry Bold 9930. There is no
estimated time to available for the Blackberry Bold 9930. So i am unable
provide the details of you requested. You will find product and pricing
details on Sprint.com and in promotional information at our retail
stores. We encourage you to watch news reports or monitor our web site
to see if a change in availability occurs.

We value your business and appreciate the opportunity to answer your
questions. Please reply to this email or visit sprint.com if we can be
of assistance."

this is unacceptable, first we are told 5 months (May to August), now we are told fall...what is this? Really pissed. There is no planning on RIM or Sprint's behalf. How can you announce a device but not get ready to sell it and then lie to the customers and postpone even further and then wonder why the decline in customer base...that's why

Posted by Deathcommand Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

They better have meant August 21st...

Posted by taweel.tony Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

What a swift kick to the groin!! FALL !!!!! Seriously????? I don't know what aggravates me more..... the lack of a "release date" by Sprint and/or RIM, or the fact that the unspecified "release date" keeps getting pushed back !! Why is it taking so long to release this phone !! I am on the verge of throwing in the towel......

Posted by lewisc1979 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

Perhaps "Fall" means "Late Summer/Early Fall" in this case. That would include August 21 and up.

Posted by opskmallory Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

I was thinking the exact same thing; you beat me to it.

Looks like we are the only optimistic ones. Everyone is jumping to the conclusion that it's going to be November before these show up. I think August is still a pretty reasonable date. Of course Sprint wouldn't release an actual date until all their ducks are in a row. But they might still have a goal date of 8/21 and could very well meet that goal.

I'm quite excited for the 9930 - It'll be the first phone I've bought on upgrade in a while, and the first phone ever bought on launch day. If I have to wait an extra month, it won't kill me. In the end, it's just another gadget. It's core purposes are met with my Style and/or EVO.

Even if it gets delayed, it's nothing to get upset over.

Posted by lewisc1979 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

I'm currently using an old 8330 until this one comes out. The only thing that is concerning me is that I'll be in Europe next month and would like the 9930 in my hands before then. If not for the trip, I wouldn't mind waiting.

Posted by masterfurda Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

Wow.. I thought I was the only one still rockin' an 8830. I'm more than ready for an upgrade.

Posted by lewisc1979 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

I'm only using this 8330m because my 9650 is in a drainage ditch. I can't wait to replace it with a 9930. Of course, I'll keep the 8330m as a backup device.

Posted by ZMc1834 Thursday, Aug 04, 2011 292 days ago

Another 8330, right here

Posted by nikkisharif Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

I swear I think people forget that Blackberrys are always delayed which is why they are behind with technology. Stop holding your breath & getting upset about something you have no control over!!! You either want to wait (until who knows when) for the phone to actually be released or you go with something else, the choice is yours...no one is forcing you to stay!!!

Posted by El Platanero Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

This is actually perfect for me. My kids just started school so you know what kind of a beast that bill is. If it comes out late September or later it will be perfect. As for the QNX phones, I guarantee that while we are burning holes in the OS7 devices the people will be on here around March of next year either saying "I couldn't wait so I got OS7 anyway" or they will be whining on how QNX is not out yet while the rest of us are rockin o whole lot of OS7 sexiness.

9930 all the way baby.

Posted by dsj3 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

This is absolutely RIDICULOUS! I am all but convinced that RIM is not interested in gaining back the huge business share that they already have lost. I have several business partners that were counting on those phones in three weeks and I will tell you right now they WILL NOT wait any longer. As for Sprint? Only because of their good unlimited pricing has my business stayed a client. I drop more calls with them though than probably in Uganda. These phones are already pathetically overdue and now another 60-120 day delay? Oh my gosh. I had to buy a Blackberry Style because my overworked Bold finally just conked out and several others are carrying Tours that have had their track balls replaced countless times. There are rumors of a Sprint iphone also in the late fall and I think we will say bye bye to RIM if the iphone comes out anywhere near Christmas. Totally unacceptable RIM/Sprint. Get it together. This is another reason why you guys are falling way, way, behind. I am going to visit the Verizon store soon. Sick of this crap. New Blackberries or we are going to iphones.......whomever can offer them without another DELAY.

Posted by my.usernamegoeshere Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

I was ready for a late August launch to replace my aging Tour. I'm not waiting for a "fall" launch. That usually means the last week of said season.

How is it that all sorts of carriers are announcing for this month and Sprint is waiting for the new iPhone to drop on VZ or what?

We already know RIM, those QNX phones won't be here for a year o more.

Posted by Noles603 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need this phone in my life I've been a sprint customer and blackberry customer since I was 16 with the 7130e,8703e,8330,9630 and now the 9650. I've been waiting for this phone since I saw the review for it and now I have to wait so long for it.

Posted by mpagano37 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

Not cool. IF Sprint gets the iPhone late fall as rumored the Torch will have NO chance. I WAS looking forward to the 9930 late this month. Oh well.

RIM should be called DIM=delay in moving

No 4G?! which Sprint will still charge the extra $10 a month for... Not cool

Posted by mpagano37 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

Yes to the extra $10. Any smart phone is extra. I'm still pissed about fall.

Posted by sweetiegirl05 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

Whoop-dee-doo. We knew the brand new bold was coming to Sprint. I would go out and buy one right now, however Sprint or RIM or whoever makes the decision when to release phones is taking forever. Fall, really? I have an HTC Evo and although its a nice phone, I should have known better to get an all touch phone. I need a physical keyboard. Someone needs to light a fire under these companies and get things moving.

Posted by mpagano37 Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

Need the physical keyboard as well.

Posted by jonsigler Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

I've been upgrade eligible for months and months and nothing has been worth taking the plunge in my opinion till the 9930. If this doesn't come out till November, I'll wait, my contract is up in March. I could pick from any phone on the market then as opposed to only a Sprint one.

Posted by BBM.Duchess Wednesday, Aug 03, 2011 292 days ago

WOOP WOOP!!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED.. 9930!!! MY BABAY! BABAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TILL WE MEET MY LOVE :)

Posted by kalpain Thursday, Aug 04, 2011 292 days ago

So not only will these phones not be out for months but AT&T will being getting the 4G versions even though because they are smartphones Sprint will probably still charge the $10 premium usually reserved for their 4G phones. Even though these will still be 3G on their network. I'm glad Sprint and RIM are finally coming out with some new Blackberrys but I'm so disappointed right now...

Posted by ZMc1834 Thursday, Aug 04, 2011 292 days ago

There is no such thing as the 4G version of this phone. They might label it as 4G, but HSPA+ is not 4G. Best HSPA+ could be considered is 3.5G.

Posted by kalpain Thursday, Aug 04, 2011 291 days ago

Oh I see. Just clever (or maybe not so much) marketing.

Posted by Niz Thursday, Aug 04, 2011 292 days ago

You're not being charged $10 for 4G, sprint has changed their policy for ANY smart phone owners. Everyone will have to pay $10 if they get a smartphone, this was announced several months ago.

Sprint is really giving RIM a black eye with this delay. Several comments bashing RIM on this, but sprint is the one who has to get it's sh*t together and get this phone out!!

Posted by kalpain Thursday, Aug 04, 2011 291 days ago

True. But I suppose what I mean to say is that since they are making us pay the 10 bucks anyway we might as well get 4G. But either way I'm not happy about the fee or that we have still have to wait months for these phones. Either way it doesn't look good for Sprint or for RIM. I've been looking to these devices for a while now. I suppose I can wait a little longer to see if they are worth the wait.
